Sushi is pretty much all I want to eat... that and pizza. But some sushi would hit the spot right now.
1/21/2014 4:45:48 PM
i didn't go for sushi this week its what i crave, but may have to wait til tomorrow
1/21/2014 4:56:25 PM
dammit- i passed on sushi today and was fine with that... now that I've seen this thread I want sushi! maybe for lunch tomorrow....
1/21/2014 4:59:30 PM
So hungry. Want a sweet dragon roll and a budokan roll from Kanki. Also, I cant wait until I can eat raw fish sushi again.
1/21/2014 5:03:47 PM
The last time I had sushi was with her...hahahhaa, but it was bland and a complete waste of time/money. I'm craving some good sushi and soon.[Edited on January 21, 2014 at 5:05 PM. Reason : ]

Has anybody been to Orchid on Creedmoor? Its that all you can eat sushi/sashimi/teriyaki chicken place. I really like the sushi at the Kroger on Creedmoor/Strickland. The guy makes it fresh. If you ask him for something special, he'll try and make it for you.
1/22/2014 9:05:33 AM
I've heard good things about Kai by Gonza/Sawmill Tap Room (maybe its no longer the sawmill tap room though) as far as quality of sushi, but i think its relatively new.I still prefer tokyo house for all my sushi dining, but its cause they know me there
1/22/2014 9:06:38 AM
I know people who have been and enjoyed it but I haven't been personally.
1/22/2014 9:07:08 AM
Tokyo House--I've never been there but its owned by one of the former sushi chefs at Waraji...and rumor has it that they hired Heajin, who was Waraji's first female sushi chef before she was let go.Kai-- Was opened by one of Hayashi-Ya's former sushi chefs. I've heard good things about their sushi but heard that their cooked food is nasty.btw Waraji now has a Caucasian sushi chef. WHAT A WORLD.I'm a wealth of sushi gossip.[Edited on January 22, 2014 at 9:10 AM. Reason : d]
1/22/2014 9:09:48 AM
I liked the sushi I got at hayashi ya. So did my dad.
1/22/2014 9:11:56 AM
I haven't been to Hayashi-Ya in forever. The sushi is really good but their place is just too big. The overhead of that place has got to be insane and it's never busy enough to justify the rent/overhead.
1/22/2014 9:14:26 AM
Didn't it close?
1/22/2014 9:32:02 AM
^^^^ They did hire Heajin.[Edited on January 22, 2014 at 9:33 AM. Reason : ^]

You just entered a thread full of Waraji lovers. Tread lightly!
1/22/2014 10:23:54 AM
Nah, waraji is overpriced.
1/22/2014 10:25:28 AM
welp, I can't pretend I liked the room temperature puke they served me.I am an avid sushi lover, and that place made me wished I had ordered anything but sushi, which is a first (and probably last). There was no redeeming that experience for me, sorry.[Edited on January 22, 2014 at 10:26 AM. Reason : .]
1/22/2014 10:25:37 AM
grimx took me a couple times and the food was good, but I wouldn't pay that much for sushi myself. I like the cheap sparkly sake and the beef tataki was my fucking jam!
1/22/2014 10:26:46 AM
When I hear white sushi chef...
1/22/2014 10:30:26 AM
sushi last nightsushi tonight
1/23/2014 11:28:23 AM
 I want sushi
1/23/2014 11:50:04 AM
I too want sushi.
1/23/2014 11:53:32 AM
I would eat this...
1/23/2014 12:03:49 PM
that's pretty messed up.
1/23/2014 2:38:21 PM
Anyone know where to get good quality sashimi around the Raleigh/Durham area? Grand Asia smells too fishy for me to trust their stuff, but has anyone tried Li Ming's in Durham? Right now I just get tilapia at the teeter but I'd like to expand my options.
1/23/2014 3:00:35 PM
^ I overheard someone ask the sushi chefs at Sushi Thai in Cary where the best place was to get sushi meat. They said online is the best.
1/23/2014 3:04:30 PM
what about a freshmarket? I don't know about the raleigh market, but whenever I took sushi classes, they said to get fish at your asia market or at a freshmarket or something similar, and you'd be fine
1/23/2014 3:04:45 PM
Speaking of Asian Markets...I drive by a sign that claims to be a market across the street from Fred Anderson Toyota on Glennwood. Anyone have any experience in there?^^ I've heard that...but I have a feeling that might only pay off in bulk restaurant-sized orders[Edited on January 23, 2014 at 3:15 PM. Reason : ]
1/23/2014 3:09:58 PM
I haven't tried freshmarket yet, guess I will have to stop by there at some point and see what they have.
1/23/2014 3:55:46 PM
I feel sorry for that squid. He seems to be in pain.
1/23/2014 3:56:44 PM
yea, that was disturbing. When you eat an animal, you should respect it and kill it as quickly and cleanly as possible, that made my stomach turn
1/23/2014 4:07:43 PM
mmm so good.and they were helpful to learn about making sushi too
1/24/2014 8:24:56 AM
Had some sushi last nightWant more.If anybody is interested in taking sushi classes, the owner of Waraji sometimes teaches classes at A Southern Season.[Edited on January 24, 2014 at 8:27 AM. Reason : f]

1/24/2014 8:28:58 AM
LOLOLMy brother is a clown.
1/24/2014 8:30:18 AM
he was like "is her last name fujitsu? fu-something?"
1/24/2014 8:31:05 AM
hahahahahayeahHis nickname at Waraji was "Sunshine" b/c he smiled all the time
1/24/2014 8:32:28 AM
Bump, because sushi.
2/4/2014 9:38:56 AM
that does sound pretty good
2/4/2014 9:41:29 AM
I usually order from this one sushi place. My usual order is 17.50. That order is now 27 dollars for the same size portions. what in the actual fuck?
2/4/2014 9:41:32 AM
my order is $25.75, and you have to order $25 to get a stamp on the cardand with two it comes out to about $51 and change which is good for 2 stamps
2/4/2014 9:45:12 AM
I usually go for the Sashimi dinner at places I frequent.I still need to get over to Orchid...trying to rally a few friends to check it out this weekend.
2/4/2014 11:30:44 AM
i hadn't seen orchid until recently. lots of new sushi places popping up though
2/4/2014 11:32:31 AM
Orchid isn't new. Its been there for at least 4 or 5 years.I just havent heard the greatest things about it. [Edited on February 4, 2014 at 2:23 PM. Reason : e]
2/4/2014 2:23:25 PM
i don't typically go that far down that complex, and i certainly don't see the sign and think of it as sushi
2/4/2014 2:25:19 PM
I ate at this place the day after Christmas. It was amazing.http://m.yamazushirestaurant.comThey only have 4 tables in the restaurant but only take 3 reservations a night. There are 3 booths that can sit 2 people each and one table that sits 4. Extremely hard to get a reservation but since it was the day after Christmas, they had an opening. It's like $90 a person but the presentation/food/atmosphere was worth it.
