How in the hell is it a poison to the team to have a coach that stands by his word and holds everyone accountable for their decisions?

So why is this thread still unlockedI don't understand that a few hours after someone else leaves the thread gets locked asap

after a while it will be old news, until...A. Wilson signs with a new team, then this will blow up againB. Every game that is televised will have this mentioned and reminded to us by the commentators

Sports talk is gay as fuck. I understand why people trolll it now
5/1/2011 9:39:06 PM
so if we only win two games this season, you think OBrien will be fired? Would be something if he goes to Auburn......lol......

Quote :"“I really want the fans, N.C. State alumni and most of all my teammates to know if I had been given an equal opportunity to compete for the starting job, I would not have asked for my release,” Wilson said Saturday in a telephone interview. “I am a competitor.”Wilson, a three-year starter, is playing minor league baseball for the Asheville Tourists in the Colorado Rockies organization this summer. He said he wanted to come back to N.C. State this fall and attempt to lead the Wolfpack to an ACC championship. He said he didn’t want to have the starting job handed to him on a silver platter, but wanted an equal chance to compete for it. Wilson said it didn’t appear that he would be given that chance."It's odd that now RW says so confidently that he intended to play. Up until last week, from all I understood he was a complete question mark. If he were so sure he was going to return, why didn't he say this months ago? TOB might be stubborn, but I really don't think he would have turned RW down. Given that, it was honestly annoying to me that he was just leaving it up in the air, again, about whether or not he was returning. If I were on the team, I know I'd be frustrated. I thoroughly enjoyed watching RW play, especially the 90% of the time he was helping, and sometimes saving, the whole team. He's always shown class to go with his talent, and quite frankly it disappointed me to see him throw TOB under the bus with the statements I quoted.

Lock this fucking thread already.
5/1/2011 11:39:00 PM
^^ Honestly, i was surprised he didn't face a little more scrutiny after not going thru spring last year but hopefully everyone realizes when the personnel is a) pretty drastically changedb) you're only going to get weeks/days (if you are even allowed to come back) with themc) the playbook is being designed for themthese simple variables should show everyone that any qb would have a tough time overcoming it.Also, RW isn't going to go to another school, show up, and learn their playbook and offense in a few weeks/days either.

5/2/2011 8:59:27 AM
I don't think anyone has ever asked TOB about Brosius, but he could also be progressing (hopefully).
5/2/2011 9:27:55 AM
so did the pack pride guys all get a talking points memo before taking to twitter. now one of them is trolling it up by saying he hopes RW goes to SC so he can drive to columbia 6 times to watch him play

Why is this thread still unlocked
5/2/2011 10:54:18 AM
why do you keep posting about locking this thread?
5/2/2011 10:56:27 AM
Because he's not going to return, the school has released him.In the past history has it that the thread gets locked when this happens. Why is this one different.
5/2/2011 11:38:01 AM
His story isn't over. He could very easily return to college football...
5/2/2011 1:00:47 PM
what's this "Wilson would report at the start of June" stuff I'm reading?I thought the problem was that TOB didn't want to get burned at the last second when Wilson decided against returning. Could he really not have waited one more month?[Edited on May 2, 2011 at 1:46 PM. Reason : 3 months isn't enough?]
5/2/2011 1:45:08 PM
1. Where are you reading that?2. Why would he miss over half of the baseball season and risk the Rockies voiding his contract?3. What the fuck is he going to do in June and July? Fall practice starts in August.]
5/2/2011 1:49:29 PM
kind of curious to see how he might do at another school like auburn or LSU.. of course, if he does well, nc state and TOB will be (unjustly) burned at the stake

It won't matter what Wilson does so long as Glennon plays well. And I'd have to think that the odds of Wilson mastering a brand new offense under a brand new coach with brand new receivers, all within a few weeks, after nearly nine months away from football, and then succeeding in the SEC... are pretty low.
5/2/2011 1:56:43 PM
fucking tim jefferson does OK at LSU - you could probably put Beck at LSU and have him win 9 games
5/2/2011 1:57:49 PM
yeah, it was from Joe Schaud
5/2/2011 1:58:31 PM
5/2/2011 2:02:15 PM
just heard on the David Glenn show that Russell Wilson is 95% sure he's going to play football next year...
5/2/2011 2:05:03 PM
getting my jefferson's mixed up
5/2/2011 2:07:26 PM
95% isn't 100%, that 5% could have screwed us
5/2/2011 2:07:42 PM
Is anyone mentioning Jerimiah Masoli as a comparable?Obviously vastly different circumstances, but still, both mobile QBs with a track record transferring to play one year at a new school.Masoli threw for 2000 yards with almost as many picks as scores. I think Russell can top those numbers.
5/2/2011 2:17:51 PM
I wish Russ luck wherever he lands, I just hope it's a team that is scheduled to play UNC next year so I can see him shit all over those fuckers for a fourth year in a row. Shitty situation and not the way I wanted him to leave, but he's still awesome.
5/2/2011 2:22:24 PM
here's what depresses me even more...he's likely to be starting QB at either Auburn or South Carolina. both of those teams play Clemson. i will cry.
5/2/2011 2:22:47 PM
Why would he report in June to a team this year? He left his rookie ball team last year to report a few weeks before the first game last year, and now he would leave his Single-A team even earlier to report to an entirely new school and situation? I still want to hear the Rockies say they going to let him go again before I start thinking RW is going to play for a new school this fall. He could just leave the Rockies organization, but I wish he'd made an earlier commitment to NCSU so this situation could've been avoided. Hopefully he starts hitting well enough he doesn't want to leave.[Edited on May 2, 2011 at 2:27 PM. Reason : tbdv]
5/2/2011 2:23:16 PM
I hope Russell goes to a top 5 program and wins the Heisman. It will not mean anything for TOB. The fact is, you cannot plan around someone like Russell unless you have a backup plan for Russell that can run in the same system. That is not something we have, so it's one of those impossible delimmas. Therefore, TOB took the responsible route.... Dude is not a gambler .... and is planning around what he knows he has. Add to that that he sees great potential out of MG...Would love to see both NCSU and Russell do well this coming season. And I hope both teams beat the shit out of UNCheat[Edited on May 2, 2011 at 2:44 PM. Reason : spelling ... someone threw me off on the interweb ... not sure why I accepted that spelling ]
5/2/2011 2:28:09 PM
really set on spelling his name wrong, aren't you?
5/2/2011 2:36:53 PM
let's see a bowl game of glennon v. wilson!
5/2/2011 2:41:29 PM
Where are people getting Auburn and South Carolina predictions from? I haven't read anything on it, seems rather random. Might as well say he could go to Oregon or Boise State, as far as I've seen.Did those schools show interest in him or something?*EDIT* I see it now, never mind.[Edited on May 2, 2011 at 3:50 PM. Reason : Yeah.]
5/2/2011 3:37:19 PM
People are getting those because they are schools who are in need of a QB, RW is a hot commodity, and said he has been contacted by several SEC schools.[Edited on May 2, 2011 at 3:49 PM. Reason : .]
5/2/2011 3:49:34 PM
hate that it didn't work out for RW and the pack to remain together, but given the circumstances on both sides, TOB did the right thing here.
5/2/2011 4:08:01 PM
if Wilson came back Glennon would be all like
5/2/2011 4:10:20 PM
^^^ no because they put it on the tv about 30 mins ago when they did a story on wilson.
5/2/2011 4:16:20 PM
What channel did a story on Wilson?
5/2/2011 4:26:14 PM
espn
5/2/2011 4:42:27 PM
I'm sure Heather Dinich knows everything and will fill us all in shortly
5/2/2011 4:44:31 PM
5/2/2011 5:59:43 PM
yup, not preparing with your team does make a huge difference. and this year he wouldn't have the experienced crop of receivers he did last year.
5/2/2011 6:30:22 PM
If we win 9 games next year, you will still have a contingent of fans who will say "omg we couldve won 11 or 12 games if we had Wilson!"
5/2/2011 6:35:06 PM
WRAL said at 6 that an SC assistant said "nonsense" in response they were interested in RW
5/2/2011 6:49:05 PM
i never believed those rumors on account of them being ridiculous for the reasons stated (which should be obvious to anyone)
