do you know them or do you know of them?
9/4/2011 12:10:04 PM
^There were some girls that were good friends of my sister and her friends that I went to parties with, so yeah I know them. They were better looking than the FSU girls.

so if Texas wouldn't join the PAC-X last year because they wouldn't be allowed to have their own network, how does this PAC-16 rumor have legs?Boulder Camera (and probably 1000s of others) are saying TT, Oklahoma, OSU, and Texas to the PAC is likely. Totally sucks for Utah and Colorado - they'll lose the trips to southern California that they get every season as it stands now.http://www.dailycamera.com/cu-college-sports/ci_18822742
9/6/2011 12:47:12 PM
Yesterday CBSSports had Texas, UCONN, Syracuse and Rutgers joining the ACC. You silly internet...
9/6/2011 1:11:09 PM
interesting what they were saying on PTI about this about these three or four super conferences breaking apart from the NCAA and even forming their own playoff systems, does this then lead to paid players or semi amateur/pro teams I wonder?
9/6/2011 5:56:00 PM
Why the hell would Texas join the ACC? These rumors suck.
9/6/2011 6:15:39 PM
Texas is going to be independent within five yearsOr they'll form the one-team ESPN Conference
9/6/2011 6:21:39 PM
The Pac 12 wants TLN revenue distributed throughout the conference evenly, but Texas obviously wants to keep its network. The ACC (Swofford) is more open to the idea of Texas keeping more revenue from TLN as a sales to pitch to get them in the conference. In return, Texas gets much need leverage in negotiations with the Pac 12 over TLN.

So basically, virtually no change from yesterday! We all knew they were going it's just a matter of when the details are finalized. And they still aren't finalized.I am in the set of people who would love to see State move to the SEC, but I would miss some of the rivalries against other ACC-North Carolina teams. Hopefully we'd still get to beat UNC once a year!
9/7/2011 9:37:34 AM
yeah...cant get rid of that state/wake game...
9/7/2011 9:44:41 AM
9/7/2011 9:54:07 AM
They like the idea of a 3-9 season every year? Assuming of course we schedule 3 cupcakes every year.
9/7/2011 9:54:56 AM
I'm not one of those people who thinks we should move but...Just because we're not a great football team now doesn't mean we're permanently shitty. A better conference leads to more exposure, more opportunities for recruiting and better players, and a chance at becoming a better program. And the SEC dick sucking is a little out of control. Every team in the SEC is not an automatic L, even for our current team.
9/7/2011 10:00:55 AM
In the ACC Atlantic (still the dumbest fucking division moniker outside of Leaders and Legends), we're annually better than Wake, on a relatively level playing field with Maryland, BC and Clemson, and behind FSU. Thats the general pecking order and while it changes slightly from year to year, its relatively consistent over time.In the SEC East, we would be annually better than Vandy, on a level playing field with UK, and behind South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida. We go from middle of the pack to a whooping boy. No thanks.
9/7/2011 10:08:34 AM
I don't want to leave the ACC either and I don't think the SEC would want us anyways. I just don't think we'd get shit all over every single season for the rest of eternity if we did go.
9/7/2011 10:12:24 AM
so:Texas A&M to SECsupposedly Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, and Texas Tech to the Pac-12that leaves in the cold:MissouriKansasKansas StateBaylorIowa StateMizzou I think would be a good Big 10 school. You have to imagine someone would pick up Kansas. K-State, Baylor, and Iowa State would get demoted in this scenario.

If we beat UNC this year, we should move to the SEC and never play them again. We'd end on a 5 game winning streak and then we could say they aren't our rival anymore since we got better competition .I know we won't move to the SEC but I would love the opportunity to see awesome football week in and out, even if we get stomped on by the likes of Alabama, LSU, etc.
9/7/2011 10:19:46 AM
Yes, really. In a decent/good year (read: not 2009), NC State could certainly be competitive against Vanderbilt, UK, Tennessee and Georgia. South Carolina would almost always beat us and Florida/Tennessee/Georgia would be tough games, but we could certainly compete with them. On an average year Tennessee and Georgia wouldn't be that much harder than UNC and Maryland/Clemson. Florida/South Carolina wouldn't be any harder than FSU or VT, which already run all over us most of the time. (though since the end of the Tebow era Florida has been fairly weak) The huge football power is in SEC West. Alabama, Auburn, LSU and so on. [Edited on September 7, 2011 at 10:24 AM. Reason : .]

9/7/2011 10:24:03 AM
Yes, and the same year that we lost to Duke and WF which is why I say that it was a bad year.
9/7/2011 10:30:13 AM
Just to be clear...You're saying that South Carolina will beat us 99 out of 100 times even though in one of our "down" years where we lost to Duke, we only lost to South Carolina 7-3.This is a dumb argument to have in this thread but I'm just curious what South Carolina has accomplished in the last 5-10 years that makes them such a powerhouse but you also think we can hang with Florida, who have won multiple conference titles and national championships in recent years.
9/7/2011 10:36:17 AM
Look my first NC State game was against SC and we won 3-0! Well at least from what I can remember its been a long time since then haha
9/7/2011 10:38:58 AM
South Carolina is good right now, but as a program, they're still well behind the Florida/Georgia/Jaybee triumvirate. We would struggle to win 1/3 of our games vs any of those teams.
9/7/2011 10:39:14 AM
99 out of 100 would be an exaggeration on my part obviously. It's literally completely impossible to predict what will happen more than a year or two ahead of time. It could be anyone's game by then, even our own (if we were to join). I'm just saying that SC has been far more impressive recently than Florida.
9/7/2011 10:47:29 AM
Yeah, well that's kind of my point. It's easy to line up our current team against current SEC teams and project out many losses we'd have. But shitty teams aren't always shitty. Good teams aren't always good. Being in the best football conference provides opportunities we haven't had yet. We could easily be South Carolina in 5-10 years if we were in the SEC... you never know.I like the ACC and want to stay in the ACC but moving to the SEC wouldn't mean we're an automatic bottom dweller for the rest of our lives.
9/7/2011 10:52:11 AM
screw it, acc should pick up mizzou and kansas
9/7/2011 11:18:38 AM
i wonder how much in-state recruiting would improve, being the only SEC team in the state
9/7/2011 11:21:37 AM
football recruiting would get better for us, i think, if we were in the SEC. Probably a few big name recruits from NC that would typically leave might stay and play with us.However, I think we're a charter member of the ACC and we're not going anywhere. And that is for the best. Tradition needs to mean something. Let the Big 12 dissolve. They were just formed in 1996.
9/7/2011 11:36:10 AM
9/7/2011 12:12:15 PM
Has anyone mentioned how idiotic this will be for any team that isn't in a revenue sport?Seriously, NCAA football needs to be 100% independents. Let Texas have their contract. Play the season strictly for tournament/bowl seeding. The conference thing is too much of a clusterfuck.
9/7/2011 1:35:10 PM
Why would the SEC have ANY interest in State? I don't get it. We are not at the top of the ACC in basketball, not in football, not academically..We have facilities! Maybe Chuck is the SEC commissioner?
9/7/2011 1:46:39 PM
to answer your question, because NCSU is the only realistic option in this statethat's one reason, not saying it's a big enough reason, but you asked about ANY reason
9/7/2011 1:48:40 PM
Are we just assuming UNC would never leave Dukes side?
9/7/2011 1:52:32 PM
i haven't been keeping up with this all that closely but, is this becoming closer to reality? This thread topic? Also, while right now UF and UGA would beat us more often than not, would we still lose guys like Xavier Nixon and what was that awesome LB that went to UF a few years ago, or the LB who went to Clemson last year? You'd have to think we'd get at least a little bit of upgrade in talent. How many people have we lost to South Carolina, you'd have to think Keith Marshall would probably wanna stay in state too, if we were perceived as being in an elite conference.
9/7/2011 1:54:17 PM
i think that's a pretty safe assumption^^
9/7/2011 1:56:15 PM
And SC was able to hang onto Clowney this year as well. While our recruiting would improve naturally with in-state talent, the bigger problem we'd face is improved competition.
9/7/2011 2:13:03 PM
LOL at some users thinking that South Carolina is somehow a better program than Florida. Wow they were marginally better LAST YEAR. Forget the preceeding 15 years Also UGA would stomp our asses most years. USC has been good recently, but we'll see if they can keep that up. Spurrier has done a nice job cheating building that program. UT is recruiting like mad and will be better soon. Vandy and Kentucky are the only teams we'd probably ever be favored against in a normal season and UK would be 50/50.We'd just be another Mississippi school in this conference. Dan Mullen has done an amazing job at Miss St and they'll still be middle of the pack in their division forever at best. Joining the SEC would be cool for a little while, but eventually all the losing would just start to suck so bad. Kind of like us in basketball now.[Edited on September 7, 2011 at 4:39 PM. Reason : j]
9/7/2011 4:37:12 PM
^ can't agree with that completely. We'd obviously get better talent and the state of North Carolina is a much better destination than Mississippi (no offense to any Mississippi residents).
9/7/2011 5:30:39 PM
Yeah right
9/7/2011 5:31:33 PM

^^ This man speaks truth. So far, ACC has never added a school that doesn't border the coast. I'm sure money would make them break that tradition but it still seems unlikely to me.
