Love it. He's adorable. And you have freakishly long fingernails (or I have mistaken that wristwatch for a man's, and it's really your wife's hand).[Edited on March 28, 2012 at 3:51 PM. Reason : ]

Mine just lost her first tooth. She's also gotten pretty good at shifting the gears for me in my Corvette...I just taught her to ride her bike without training wheels, tie her own shoes, and I've got her reading very simple books.Oh, and last weekend, she ran 0.8 miles with me to the park, played for a while, including doing the monkey bars alternating hand-over-hand, and then ran 0.8 miles back home (stopping to walk a couple times on the way home)Kinda funny, until our court date, she only stays with me every other weekend, but all those aforementioned "firsts" (except the tooth) have happened with me on our weekends together over the last few months.[Edited on April 25, 2012 at 10:08 PM. Reason : Pretty good for a 5-year old preschooler, I think!]
4/25/2012 10:05:57 PM
She said she wanted to take her training wheels off; I gave her the ratchet and socket that would fit, told her "righty-tighty, lefty-loosy" and told her to take them off. (after she ran to the park and back with me)Snow White doll in one hand, Corvette Z06 gearshift in the other.Assembling her Barbie kitchen playset
4/25/2012 10:14:13 PM
duke, you're the coolest dad ever!!!when are you going to teach her to shoot guns? my dad showed me how when i was a little one (supervised, of course!)btw i love that you made her take her own training wheels off & gave her the tool to do it
4/25/2012 11:45:48 PM
yeah, I'll teach her to shoot when she's young, but I think she needs to be a little older, even supervised....and yep, I didn't touch the bike at all. my little preschooler took her own training wheels off and then replaced and tightened the axle nuts without any help except me showing her how to flip the lever on the ratchet to change from loosen to tighten. (I did check to make sure she had replaced everything tight enough when she was done). This weekend, we ate black bean chili, flatbread with hummus, and blueberries for dinner one night...eastern NC-style BBQ the next day for lunch, and then the next night I asked her what she wanted for dinner--did she want to eat at home or go out to eat. She said "I want to go to the Indian restaurant". Hahaha. I have them spice hers mildly, but I think it's a win that she'll eat Indian and Thai food now...6 months ago when I moved down here, she wouldn't touch anything even remotely spicy.Still working on music...she only gets to hear shitty Top 40 and vanilla housewife pop country when she's with her mom. I've gotten her into Pearl Jam and especially Bruce Springsteen.Check her out singing Springsteen's "Promised Land" (her favorite):[Edited on April 26, 2012 at 12:10 AM. Reason : ]

bottombaby, it fucks me up how grown your kid is.]
5/6/2012 7:12:39 PM
^^ Well yeah, it's definitely not right...but that's what's demanded by FL law. You pretty much just put your respective incomes into a formula, and it spits out the support amounts.Assuming each parent spends at least 20% of the time with the child (other situations where the child only spends minimal time with one parent have a different formula), it's a function of overnights spent with each parent. I haven't done the math, but I would expect that even if my daughter lived primarily with me, say, 75-80% of the time, and just visited her mom for 20-25% of the time, I'd STILL probably be on the hook for a car payment to her...probably $500/month or something.0[Edited on May 6, 2012 at 8:34 PM. My oldest, Matthew, is almost 9 and my youngest, Charlie, just turned 5. Yesterday after school my wife gave Matthew some Benadryl because his allergies were acting up. He said he was sleepy and went to go on and do his reading for the day. I found him like this at 6:30. His little brother wanted to wake him up so he could keep playing.
