anyone know of any good places to rent near downtown/elon law? (under a mile preferred but this is evaporating fast)
6/28/2010 12:43:03 PM
^^I like Indigo the Salon. Their cheaper version is called Indie the Salon, and it's a training salon. http://www.ndgo.com/documents/23.html They'll run you about $15-$30 for a mens cut.[Edited on June 28, 2010 at 12:43 PM. Reason : ]

^^ I see a lot of places for rent on Elm Street north of downtown, also Fisher Park. No idea what you're looking for, though.^ Excellent. All of these places have shitty websites or none at all and I'm not going to call them all.
6/28/2010 12:47:07 PM
^^^ what is your price range? the closer you get the downtown the more expensive it will be. I lived on Battleground when I worked downtown, and it was a 10 minute commute. if you are looking to rent a house, there are plenty off of Lawndale across from Target.
6/28/2010 12:50:51 PM
$900 or less, doesn't smell like cats, and it's a complete shithole, old is ok, above retail is ok.yeah we've got a line on a positive looking prospect (from looking in the windows at least) on Magnolia just south of fisher park, a different one on wharton looked good from the outside, but inside smelled like cats, door frames were about 3 inches shorter than me, tiny bathroom, and floors were more than just a little slanted....got a notice about some place called "new town" or something off of n. church as well, might look over there if i have to.

Haven't had Elizabeth's since I lived in Winston, but I remember it being good.I really like Mario's on New Garden.
6/28/2010 6:48:12 PM
Elizabeth's sucks[Edited on June 28, 2010 at 6:50 PM. Reason : all of them, but some are more ghetto than others]
6/28/2010 6:50:00 PM
yum mario's looks good.its like 15 minutes away from me though i have a coupon for elizabeth's also (/poor person) so i was going to maybe try it ton?! i am scared. but it has good reviews?i wanna try mario's also though. hmmmm.
6/28/2010 6:51:55 PM
Elizabeth's isn't great, but it's completely edible. Just be prepared to wring the grease out prior to eating. Seriously, grease on everything, even the salads and pasta. Would I eat there again--yes, it's cheap, and it's not horrible.
6/28/2010 7:18:20 PM
ewww really. hmmm.i mean is it better or worse than like papa john's/pizza hut/etc?
6/28/2010 7:23:00 PM
Pizza is worse than Papa Johns/ Pizza Hut. But better than Cici's. Pasta really isn't *that* bad.
6/28/2010 7:34:35 PM
haha ok then i'm definitely NOT getting it. thanks cause i don't like papa john's/pizza hut so i DEF won't like this. sadness. i was hoping it was going to be good. i guess that is why they are always sending out coupons haha.
6/28/2010 7:36:39 PM
^^ come on. elizabeth's is better than the major chains.
6/28/2010 8:19:25 PM
well i didn't get iti do have a coupon for a $12 2 topping large and i want to try it but if it isn't that good i'd rather have another person to share it with so i don't have leftoversit has good reviewsbut we are in greensboro so i don't trust all of the reviews haha.
6/28/2010 8:35:04 PM
Mario's makes a good white pizza. I don't think I've had a bad time at Mario's yet. Elizabeth's isn't bad. It's a step up from Papa Johns. The sauce is a little bland/watery imo. In fact all of their tomato sauces are a little bland. Worth it for a coupon. Not so sure if I would go out of my way without a deal of some sort.
6/28/2010 10:35:38 PM
The best thing to get at Elizabeth's is the Sicilian style. It's like $20 but it's HUGE. We usually get it, eat like 2 slices each, then have lunch for the rest of the week.
6/29/2010 10:08:10 AM
The Proximity is hiring front desk/ drivers if anyone knows someone looking for a job...

yeah, Barber Park is in a pretty bad part of town. When I was in middle school we had our All Star baseball game at the Barber Park baseball field. We had to walk the infield an hour before the game picking up broken glass.
6/30/2010 9:29:38 AM
where the crap is barber park?
6/30/2010 9:30:45 AM
all the way down Lee St, just before you get to I-85on a sidenote, we had to do the same broken glass ritual whenever we played at Dudley in High School
6/30/2010 9:34:19 AM
I think I took this picture in Burlington, which is kind of close to Greensboro
7/5/2010 8:19:37 PM
Just boarded my flight out of detroit. I don't think I've ever been this happy to be flying to greensboro
7/5/2010 9:28:16 PM
^^ yes, Cum Park Plaza is in Burlington. In one of the "bad" parts of town.
7/6/2010 8:41:39 AM
^^^ lol, I have that same picture. There is a diner in in there called "Cum Park Diner" or something like that. I have been meaning to steal a menu.and yes, it is in a REALLY bad part of Burlington. There is a housing project area there called Beverly Hills, which I always got a kick out of.Actually, I found the picture. It's Cum Park Grill:[Edited on July 6, 2010 at 10:49 AM. Reason : a]

And while we are on the subject of funny business names, this is a truck wash place in Siler City. Notice the church in the background.

Are you trying to tell me there are good parts of Burlington
7/6/2010 1:28:50 PM
Yeah, as you get closer to Elon and out in the rural areas.
7/6/2010 1:38:07 PM
Anyone else just lose power
7/7/2010 8:19:06 PM
Taking the GF to Marisol tonight for her birthday. That oughta cost me about $200
7/30/2010 12:27:50 PM
^ went there with my wife and in-laws a few years back. Very glad they picked up the tab
7/30/2010 12:42:09 PM
Yeah, it's pricey. But she loves the place, so whatever. Shit, factoring in alcohol and tip, it will probably be more like $250
7/30/2010 12:47:32 PM
greensboro resident for ~ 24 more hoursits been real, gborobut not really. glad to be leaving. even if it is to move back into my dad's house :/but i HATE MOVING AHHHHHH RAWR.
7/30/2010 1:03:39 PM
update:$250 after tip
7/31/2010 10:08:26 AM
was it good? what did you eat? i've NEVER had a meal that expensive. i don't know if its really my thing. making me a horrible woman! *shrug* haha.
7/31/2010 10:16:13 AM
It was fucking awesome! By far the best meal I have ever had in Greensboro. The only reason it was that much was because my GF is friends with the owners, waiter, and bartender so i tipped huge. I tipped the waiter $50 on $150 meal and I tipped the bartender $20 on a $25 bar tab. So I guess I'm wrong, it was only $245.We had calamari as an appetizer, their bomb ass crab soup, I had rabbit and she had grouper. We are going back for appetizers and dessert for my birthday next week.[Edited on July 31, 2010 at 10:23 AM. 8/5/2010 6:34:27 PM
My neighbors hate me because 9 times out 10, I'm leaving my cans on the curb all weekLIKE I GIVE A FUCK]
8/5/2010 6:36:48 PM
Just noticed this:
8/5/2010 9:17:00 PM
Jimmy is still at Gene's Barber Shop...lolGreen cans are nice with a wide wheel base and lower center of gravity. The brown cans are way too narrow at the wheel base, thinner wheels, and top heavy.
8/6/2010 10:23:08 AM
Oh is he? Cool, I thought my dad said he was thinking about retiring. Maybe he's part time. I take it you've been there?Maybe the fact that I like the place so much means I'm an old man at heart...
8/6/2010 5:17:57 PM
Gene's is by far the best barber shop in Greensboro. My dad used to take me there when I was younger. I have never been there as an adult though, since I switched to the clippers route when I was like 17[Edited on August 6, 2010 at 5:19 PM. Reason : a]
