i'm just amazed that these guys (who were going to be the future of the Vols team) could make such a dumb decision- richardson is already a big part of their game plan (as an unexpected stud on special teams)

Fucking morons. Boot them all, maybe give Jackson a sec to explain his side since he didn't go up to them, unless he can prove that he was just taking a dump in the gas station h is gone.

Turns out that the Pilot gas station they robbed the people at is owned by a huge UT booster as well.

How you think that guy feels today?

^^^^Losing Jackson is a MUCH bigger hit than Richardson, I think. It looks bad with Richardson because of everything around him during National Signing Day, but Jackson is a much bigger contributor and is already one of the best defensive players on the team.

^^I'm assuming that's a joke. Richardson and Edwards are done. Jackson has a small, small chance of playing for UT at some point in the future

Haslam isn't just the owner of that particular gas station. He's the founder, owner, and CEO of ALL Pilot gas stations. The dude has given UT over $32 mil.

Also hilarious that Richardson is one of the kids involved considering how Kiffin orchestrated his announcement. Karma definitely came back to bite him in the ass there. The irony of the whole situation is just beautiful.

"Janzen Jackson, one of three freshman UT football players arrested early Thursday morning in connection with an armed robbery, has been released from jail on his own recognizance, according to his attorney.

Since Jackson's release, co-defendant and teammate Mike Edwards has been released.

Jackson is also saying he's innocent of the armed robbery in which he's accused.

Attorney Don Bosch is representing Jackson and has given 10News a statement on the matter:

This office represents Janzen Jackson. As of this afternoon his bond has been reduced from $15,000 to being released on his recognizance. Mr. Jackson vehemently asserts his innocence. And we hope that this will become apparent in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Jackson is one of three University of Tennessee football players charged with an attempted armed robbery that occured at a Pilot on the Cumberland Avenue strip early Thursday morning.

Nu'Keese Richardson, Janzen Jackson, and Mike Edwards were being held at the Knox County Detention Center; there's no word at this point whether Richardson or Edwards have been released.

According to victim statements to police, three men were sitting in their car outside the Pilot at 2218 Cumberland Avenue. They say a male in a hoodie approached and opened the driver's door, showed a black semi-automatic handgun and said, "Give me everything you have!" A second male then approached and opened the passenger's side door and said, "Give us everything you've got!" Then a third male told the other two they needed to leave.

The victims, identified as Corey Zickefoose, Benjamin Everett and Corey Smith, all Maryville residents, called 911. Police were then dispatched and a search started for the suspects including a reported female driver.

Police then found a vehicle matching the description near Gibbs Hall on the UT campus. The four suspects were then detained.

A search of the car revealed marijuana paraphenalia, two black hoodies, and a CO2 powered black pellet gun.

Police said the female driver, Marie Montmarquet, later stated the paraphenalia belonged to her. She was charged with posession, in addition to attempted armed robbery.

Montmarquet is a 22-year-old woman from Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

The suspects were taken to the Pilot for identification where the victims identified Edwards and Richardson as the ones who asked for all the money.

The three football players are all Lane Kiffin recruits.

"At this time we are currently evaluating the circumstances surrounding an incident involving Mike Edwards, Janzen Jackson and Nu'Keese Richardson," said UT Athletic Director Mike Hamilton. "Any decisions or comments regarding their status will not be made until the evaluations are complete." "

I hope the charges on Jackson end up getting dropped and just gets suspended for the rest of the season or somthing like that. As for the other two, they will be gone from the team soon.

None of the three will be traveling with the team. There was some discussion that Jackson might make the trip, but that's not the case.

With that said, Nu'Keese is still in jail. Whether his parents/family members don't have the money to bail him out (Pakokee) or they are trying to send a message, it's a sad (and hopefully wakening) situation.

"Corey B. Zickefoose, 20, said he was sitting in the driver's seat of a 1998 Hyundai Elantra on Cumberland Ave. when one of the players pulled a gun and demanded money.

But that's not enough to prevent the players from being kicked off the team, he told 6 News.

"I think they should still be able to play football, regardless," he said. "Tennessee is my place. It's my football team."

"Even after they put a gun in your face, you say let them play football?" 6 News asked.

"Yeah, it's Tennessee. That's the way it is sometimes," Zickefoose said."

"Tennessee running back coach Eddie Gran interviewed for the Memphis head coaching vacancy on Sunday, Rivals.com has learned.

Gran joined Tennessee this season after serving the previous 15 years as an assistant to Tommy Tuberville at Ole Miss and Auburn.

Memphis is looking to replace Tommy West, who was fired last week.

Other targets, according to published reports, are Middle Tennessee State coach Rick Stockstill, Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer, LSU running back coach Larry Porter and Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster."

I heard on the radio coming back home that another UT player has been arrested for shoplifting. Apparently this occurred just before homecoming as well. He allegedly stuffed a $100 shirt into a Dillards bag that he was carrying with him in the store. I can't remember the guy's name though. Anyone else have any info on this?

EDIT: he wasn't arrested, just cited

"On its way to a 5-5 record this season, Tennessee has had to deal with a shortage of talent it has rarely seen.

The Vols have been forced to rely on walk-ons and freshmen more than at any time in recent memory. And, based on UT's roster, it could get worse before it gets better.

That's bad news for UT fans starving for a championship contender, but good news for prospects looking to play right away.

In 2010, UT will have to replace starting quarterback Jonathan Crompton, leading rusher Montario Hardesty, five offensive linemen who have started at least one game - Chris Scott, Vladimir Richard, Cody Sullins, Cory Sullins, Jacques McClendon and Josh McNeil - solid tight end Jeff Cottam, its two best defensive tackles in Dan Williams and Wes Brown, its best linebacker in Rico McCoy and likely its best overall player, safety Eric Berry, who is expected to forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the NFL draft.

That's quite a list."

and assuming you are from NC, its no different, pretty much identical states, I have lived in both... but the fact that you are resorting to "your state sucks" talk when it comes to a sports discussion shows you are grasping for straws. And if you want to go that way, and actually have something to do with Buffalo, then you are a complete moron

Tennessee literally might not kick FGs the rest of this year

Tennessee has the worst kicking game in football.

The blocks against Alabama (obviously)
blocks against Ole Miss
others

and in practice this week, HALF of the attempted kicks were blocked.

Thank god we have the #1 HS Kicker coming in next year

HA, they used a walk on kicker that they found on campus yesterday, made it though

"By request from some of our readers, here is the Wes Brown interception and touchdown. The kid may not have had tons of tackles, but he had a big-play day, getting a 9-yard sack, hurrying the quarterback once, and an interception and 25-yard return for a touchdown.

I couldn’t stop grinning from my seat in Section K after the play. Everyone was high fiving and screaming and hugging each other. This young man has basically sent his knees down the river in order to play football for the University of Tennessee. After he hangs up the cleats this year, he will never play another down of football. Not because he isn’t amazingly talented or because he doesn’t want to — because he can’t. He won’t physically be able to go any longer. He deserves our respect and admiration for everything he has given us and for giving his all for Tennessee. WES BROWN, EVERYONE!!!"

Longest streak in College Football...

Not sure though, shit got nuts with Ole Miss losing and LSU maybe losing today. Tennessee are second the in east to Florida. Capital One is supposed to be #2 in the SEC, but the Florida/Bama loser will still go to a BCS bowl, so Cap. One was going to be Ole Miss, but now that they lost... either Capital One or Outback for Tennessee
