Reaching audiences with what exactly?

Obama on Leno?So instead of plugging a movie, we have the president plugging what..class warfare? Democrat leaders allowed the AIG employees to get their retention pay, and now Obama acts shocked and stunned? And without his teleprompter, I'm guessing he'll say something stupid.
3/19/2009 10:53:29 PM
yes, because he is such an incompetent speakeroh, and

re: the Leno interview. So far, so good. No flubs, gaffs, mistakes, whatever. No problem talking without a prompter. Nice, easy conversational tone with Jay. As he was explaining the AIG history, i realized that this was an excellent way to get a point across to lots of people who have probably not taken the time or energy to actually understand what is happening. To have the President of the US sit down and give a 3 minute history of it, in simple, plain terms, is wonderful. Now, i'm sure E-dogg will find hints of "class warfare" throughout the interview, but face it - he's speaking a populist, popular message. You may think it's "class warfare" for the PotUS to say "enough is enough, guys - get real", but to the 95% of people making <$200k a year (or 99% making under $500k or whatever), that's a message they agree with.---hell, turn this into a weekly or monthly thing if Obama wants to get his message out. That would be kind of cool, actually - if he hit up some talk shows like this once a month or so and and had normal conversations instead of only press conferences and speeches and news-type interviews[Edited on March 20, 2009 at 12:09 AM. Reason : .]----well, the biggest mistake so far was Obama almost drinking out of Len's mug going into the 2nd commercial break. otherwise, he's been on target, on message, and a smooth-talker, as usual. Actually, maybe his biggest mistake is saying Geithner is doing "an outstanding job". I heard some talk on the radio today suggesting all the praise Obama has been giving Geithner in the past week could be leading up to the kiss of death - praise, praise, praise, then the ax[Edited on March 20, 2009 at 12:19 AM. I foresee that Geither is going to be Obama's Browny.I guess it's good to get that out of the way early? hopefully it's the last time.
3/20/2009 12:28:32 AM
so, the only thing I think anyone could jump on Obama about that interview, and it would be an indication about how desperate they really are, is the joke about bowling a 129 and him going out for the Special Olympics. Let's if Palin and her crew of special-needs parents feel like making a mountain out of that molehill.

^While it's fun to watch libs get all over each other for political correctness, it's just amazing how we can't even make a joke about anything anymore without offending some group.

3/20/2009 11:20:56 AM
I'd be happy if I bowled a 129
3/20/2009 11:44:21 AM
Well not only that but he wasn't saying he was a shitty bowler like a special olympics player themselves - I don't even think they HAVE bowling. It was a response to Leno telling him that it was a "good bowling score" which obviously it wasn't - he was just using the quip to say oh well like the special olympics where everyone has a good score / everyone is a winner , etc. Anyway, it's retarded that this is even an issue.[Edited on March 20, 2009 at 1:03 PM. his special olympics comment doesn't offend me, but I do find it entertaining that they bent over backwards to nip that one. I too am bothered that you can't make a joke publicly anymore. To be honest I criticized Obama's move to be on Leno. But in hindsight (even though I didn't watch it) I think it was a good idea.

Just once I'd like to see him on Colbert...He'd be able to finish off his "Better Know a District" segment by covering the entire US.
3/20/2009 2:28:36 PM
I use the special olympics line at least 3 times a year.
3/20/2009 5:44:35 PM
It is somewhat in bad taste for the President of the US to make a joke like this.Personally, it makes me realize that he's not hiding i his ivory tower looking down on us, like I always perceived about Cheney/Bush, he's more "in touch" with normal people. But, it really does look bad, from the quotes i've seen (i haven't seen the video yet), that he would say something that could be perceived as diminishing Special Olympics athletes (even though that wasn't his intent).
3/20/2009 5:52:56 PM
I agree moron. On one hand just about anyone else should be able to say that and it really be a non issue, but this is the president. In no way should they even come close to a joke like that, very poor use of words. imoI think how he handled the british Pm was a bigger blunder. He isnt have a good couple of weeks. Whoever compared the gietner to brownie comment.. i agree with you 100%. I guess the thinig with brownie is bush knew he wasnt qualified when he gave him the position, but he thought we wouldnt ever need him. Big difference with geither

what is happening is that we've full-on entered the mtv generation in powerall that 1950s-60s stuff is dying and going out the windowwhen you've got millionaires in sneakers and internet message boards, comments and ideas are going to be increasingly off-the-cuff and randomfor better for worse... time marches onmen don't powder wigs anymore

3/22/2009 7:37:02 PM
Kinda done with Obama. The laughing about the auto makers situation on 60 minutes just now was the final straw I think.
3/22/2009 8:26:13 PM
going to have to elaborate on that....
3/22/2009 8:43:00 PM
Just kinda sick of the way this mess has been handled. Read Geithners latest attempt at bailing out wall street buddies was nearly the last straw, but chuckling on national TV about the auto makers needing money and then giving it to them anyway pretty much pushes me over my limit for tolerating this corporate welfare bullshit.
