u-verse (as well as direct or dish) doesn't have the full unc-tv pbs suitei also cannot pick the digital unc-tv stations up in my area over antenna due to some weird blackout wave thingdealbreakers on all sides

is this a joke or are you being serious? unc-tv? lol...what do you watch on UNC-tv?

11/19/2009 4:16:41 PM
It will tell you all HD feeds are in use and ask if you want to disable another tv or cancel a recording. It wont just cancel anything on its own.You can still watch SD with the other 2 HD feeds used.
11/19/2009 4:17:41 PM
^^ what ^ said...if you are recording two HD channels it will ask you to either disrupt a recording, watching recording or you can go to an SD channel and watch that instead.

^^,^^^ don't confuse the guy.... at least to me it sounds like you may be... there are 4 streams...If you are recording two HD shows, then no you can't watch/record on another HD stream. you can still watch SD streams though (or watch 1, record 1, or record 2).There are a total of 4 streams. Up to 2 can be used for HD at one time. [Edited on November 19, 2009 at 4:35 PM. Reason : .]

^^^ What annoys me is when you choose "record series", it records the "later" showings and not the original. You have to go in and change the advanced settings.Oh, and ^.^-.-:-)(\_/)(o.o)(___)0[Edited on November 19, 2009 at 5:02 PM. Reason : yeah]

http://www.unctv.org/UNC-TV is an 11-station network licensed to the University of North Carolina that provides statewide public television service. In our area, we have 4 channels provided by UNC-TV that offer PBS programming.I watch one of 3 of them 50% of my television viewing time. The rest of my time i'm usually watching sports, vh1 classic, ovation or turner classic movies.[Edited on November 22, 2009 at 9:22 PM. ^get out of here with that shit, troll.^^just out of curiosity what are some programs you watch on PBS? I do enjoy watching documentaries which is why I like U-Verse over TWC because there are a ton of the documentary type channels in HD.Also, how do you currently get TV service? Do you have cable or over-the-air? When I used an HD over-the-air antenna I used to get the UNC-TV network stations...can't remember which ones because i never watched them but there were a few. If you use over-the-air you could double that up with U-verse and still keep your current local programing that you enjoy.[Edited on November 22, 2009 at 11:04 PM. Reason : .]

I'm going to upgrade my Upload speed by going from the 6/.725 to the 12/1.5. I see on the website that theres a special for $20 back for upgrading. Is there any way to get a better deal? I really only need double the upload for about 2 months.
11/30/2009 12:45:36 AM
yeh, just ask.
11/30/2009 7:56:37 AM
i got 50 back without asking, shit was turned on overnight
11/30/2009 8:13:05 AM
yeah the 12/1.5 for $55 is the best deal in the area.
11/30/2009 10:30:25 AM
So after having this for a month I have figured everything out. If I still had TWC I would keep it, since I have DTV maybe not. Here is the hierarchy for TV.DirecTV > Uverse > TWCI can't justify keeping this with how many people at my house need to use it at once. It also drops out, freezes, generally screws up more than DirecTV. Granted satellite drops out during a monsoon rainstorm I have had DTV over a year and only noticed it cutting out during one storm, that storm was absolutely hellacious.
12/1/2009 11:02:29 AM
yeah, i can see how U-Verse would suck if you've got 3 or 4 people living in a house, each with their own TV. it makes DVRing shows damn near impossible, since 3 or 4 people are watching TV all the time.]
12/1/2009 11:10:50 AM
^^ I agree. When I had DirecTV, I rarely experienced screw ups. Now with U-verse, I always get screwed up signals.BUT, DirecTV wouldn't budge on their HD-DVR price (they wanted to charge $199). So, I dropped 'em and went with Uverse since they gave me $250 cash back, an HD-DVR, and MORE channels for the same price.[Edited on December 1, 2009 at 11:11 AM. Reason : $]
12/1/2009 11:11:33 AM
i don't see how ya'll get so many screwed up signals. since having U-Verse, our service has been 10x better than TWC ever was.
12/1/2009 11:12:44 AM
Oh yeah andThat really does not give me any advantage over TWC.Sucks I gave away my router already.
12/1/2009 11:54:01 AM
uhh... sure it does. you've got the 3/1 package and are nearly getting that... TWC would give you have of your download and 1/4 of your upload... assuming their service is actually working... which it often is not
12/1/2009 12:11:24 PM
I am happy to have no complaints about my U-Verse 6m/1m internet connection. TWC can continue to suck it.
12/1/2009 12:53:07 PM
I cannot wait till Uverse is expanded in my area. At the moment it's within 1/4 of a mile but is STILL NOT AVAILABLE TO MEI'm so fucking sick and tired of TWC dropping HD feeds, the huge delay when switching between HD channels, the ability to only DVR 2 shows at once, the crappy software that freezes all the time or disables sound for no reason. And I can't forget the occasional cable and internet outages or temporary service disruptions during "upgrades"Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck TWC
12/1/2009 1:06:02 PM
I just realized last week I hadn't received any of my $250 cash back yet. How long did it take everyone else?I did the tech support chat thing with AT&T and the person on the other end was worthless. Said she couldn't even find my account...
12/1/2009 1:49:42 PM
I would call them.U-Verse isn't 100% awesome. It has its problems just like TWC.Only having 2 HD feeds including whatever you're recording is more annoying that it may sound if you have more than 1 person in the home. Yes you can switch to SD which is the only reason it is better than TWCs.A 'Weekly' emergency test has been going off far more than weekly. Sometimes with the annoying sound, other times not.Sometimes when turned on, the boxes have an image frozen with the sound going. It takes a power cycle to correct it.The UI is more responsive than TWCs, but it can still become laggy. I also dont find it as clear to navigate as TWCs and its preview is not as well placed/easy to see as TWC. Minor complaint here though.I LOVE being able to view DVR items from any box. The girl doesn't like my car shows so I can record them and watch them up in the man room.Customer service has been much more responsive, so far. I am interested to see how long that lasts.Price is competitive, and often times a better deal than TWC.

I had Direct TV over the summer and hated it. HD feed being knocked out every time it rained more than a sprinkle is bullshit. I also wasn't a fan of our HD-DVR box shitting the bed for no reason and having to wait 1 week for DirecTV to ship another one.

^^Well that doesn't seem to be the case with Tobacco Road Sports bar. Last time I was there in the spring and it looked like it was about to pour the manager said to me, uh oh our feed's about to go out. Then it started pouring and yes all the HD feeds went down.I'd imagine that a bar that new would have a pretty up to date dish.As far as the one where I lived over the summer I am not sure but I'd say at least 3 years.[Edited on December 2, 2009 at 4:17 PM. How do you guys have your network set up?I've been thinking of converting my house to wireless-N. G just isn't cutting it for HD video.

Update on U-Verse. I work with a U-Verse regional manager down in San Antonio (one of AT&T's original test sites). They have recently upgraded their service to include:3 HD Channels at one timeAll boxes can now pause/rewind live TV.I can't wait to get these upgrades!
