I'm sure clemson is in prevent and not blitzing so don't get too excited about beck...of course underneath passes are open.[Edited on September 13, 2008 at 3:06 PM. Reason : not]

While I'm disappointed that WE SUCK ASS and are a bad team, I understand that it will take a few years for TOB to get this team set up the way he likes it with the players he recruited. So I'm being patient. But in the meantime, if we're gonna lose can we at least look like a respectable team?!?! Worst special teams play ever. How the hell did we end up with a place kicker that can't even boot it to the 20?!?!? Or a punter that can't kick further than 20 yds?! Or an offense that can't do, anything.
9/13/2008 3:15:36 PM
it always sucks to lose but I do feel a little better about the entire season after watching this game.
9/13/2008 3:15:40 PM
on a completly unrelated note, duke is 2-1

our tough road games are finally over.I think you had to be kidding yourself if you thought we wouldn't be 1-2 after the first 3 games... but we have people that can make plays on defense I was really surprised we held them to less than 30 points.
9/13/2008 3:19:55 PM
^Yeah, I've expected us to start 1-4 for a while. After that, it's hard to tell.
9/13/2008 3:20:59 PM
Our defense is pretty good. You could tell that after the first game. But I don't see how you can feel better because our "tough road games" are over. At this point, UNC is looking like a tough game. The fact is, you can have the best defense in the world but if you can't score more than three points on offense you're gonna lose. After the first game I already wasn't impressed with Wilson, but it was only a few plays, sure. But now you have to feel REALLY bad about this season because Wilson is just complete garbage, just like Beck and Evans. We have no QB.[Edited on September 13, 2008 at 3:22 PM. Reason : ...]

On the lighter side, volleyball beat Western 3-1
9/13/2008 3:22:45 PM
I feel like our defense actually is good. However, all the tackling I saw was piss poor. We'd get good backfield penetration, and then completely miss the guy or deliver a glancing blow that did jack shit to stop the RB/QB
9/13/2008 3:22:57 PM
I think that has to do with Spiller and Ford being ridiculously fast and not so much on our guys
9/13/2008 3:27:12 PM
so here's my stab at staying optimistic...we knew we were going to suck this year. and we do.with that said, we were also hoping to get 6 wins and to a bowl game. i think that's still very feasible. our defense is clearly better than last year. our offense is terrible, but could be better than last year.wilson is still our best option. which is sad, because he's clearly not as good RIGHT NOW as we were all hoping for. however, if we can see any growth out of him over the course of year, he could be a serviceable qb. really he just needs to develop his vision and grow a pair to throw the ball downfield (definitely easier said than done, granted, especially considering the regression our other qbs have seemed to have made under this staff). plus, when (if?) we get eugene and hill back, and get any improvement from our young o-line, our offense might be able to score a touchdown or two per game, and we could squeak into a bowl game.and remember, we've been decimated by injuries this year. so for those (mainly the packpriders) who are throwing it on Tom, hang in there! /hope [Edited on September 13, 2008 at 3:29 PM. I mean, Aaron Kelly is huge... you can't put those on our DBs. Also, this is the best running game what we'll face all year more than likely and I thought we played well against it. Unfortunately, Clemson adjusted with the screen pass.we had plenty of offense, someone needs to step and and make plays in order to score. It's hard to say wilson is terrible when he's played against two of the best secondaries he will all season. He adjusted well and made good decisions as far as running with the football. He had some happy feet, but who wouldn't behind that O-line.I think we get more open receivers against ECU's secondary and we'll see him throw downfield more.
9/13/2008 3:28:48 PM
wilson even improved throughout the game. he sucks, but we don't have anyone else.

9/13/2008 3:31:27 PM
I questioned it at first, but i'm really glad we redshirted Glennon. Hopefully our O-line is built up and talented next year and our offense is alot more potent.

I think somewhere in the 3rd quarter Bible or TOB must have told Wilson to stop just rolling out and throwing it away. He seemed like he tried to stand in there a little more later in the game. Plus, he's still seeing his 1st-2nd college game ever. Overall, I'd say Wilson did alright, ran when he needed to, and when he didn't, threw it away too much, but it's better than Evans throwing picks. I think Wilson can get better, and if we get some players back without more getting injured I can still see 5 wins, maybe 6.
9/13/2008 4:04:16 PM
Yeah this was really RW's first game.I know everyone is bitching but I think we did better than I thought we would. There are some positives to build on.
9/13/2008 4:11:02 PM
I'm just glad that our QB didn't completely throw the game away. That is certainly an improvement.

Wilson can throw. We know that. It's all we've heard since he got here. His problem is that he does nothing rhythmically. I shutter to compare anyone's mechanics to Beck's, but if you watch him, he takes his drop, scans the defense, plants his back foot, and fires. That's rhythm passing. Wilson drops back, shakes around, runs outside the pocket, and throws on the run. You can hit a big play every now and then doing that, but you'll never be consistent. I think Wilson should remain the starter for a few more games to see if he develops any type of rhythm. This game alone, I thought he improved a great deal, so who knows how good he could eventually be. BUT if he fails to move the offense, and at least present the threat of down-field passing, we gotta go with Beck. Never thought I'd say that.
