I tell ya, Manning paid off for me last night. I took him with the 6th overall pick in the draft because our league has nice scoring rules for QBs (10 yards = 1 pt and TDs for QBs are also 6). The defensive scoring has been adjusted down in my league this year, so QBs are really where the money is, and I hit paydirt. The average predicted point totals for my league is right around 105-110 this week, and I just racked up 46 points without anyone else stepping foot on the field.Extra...I also took the Indy defense as a number 2 D with my last pick in the draft. Everyone thought I was an idiot. It's not looking like such a bad idea now.[Edited on September 7, 2007 at 3:13 PM. Reason : d]

holy shit 10 passing yards = 1 point?
9/7/2007 3:18:01 PM
^Yeah, but passing TDs for QBs only counts as 4 instead of 6 points. That's the trade-off.

Anyone have more news about Jacoby Jones becoming #2 in Houston? Will it happen this week, next, etc?
9/7/2007 7:09:41 PM
I don't know for sure, but my guess is as soon as he looks like he did in the preseason, but in a regular season gameKevin Walter is just an average slot receiver really, so it's up to Jacoby to keep performing
9/7/2007 7:57:09 PM
i really want to pick up jones, but i don't know who to drop. my receivers are: chad johnson, marques colston, vincent jackson, donte stallworth, and mike furrey. suggestions?
9/8/2007 12:06:27 AM
hmmmm. I'm looking at jones because i'm desperate. I would take any of the guys you already have over Jacoby Jones.
9/8/2007 12:16:04 AM
start 3:Stallworth @ NYJDerrick Mason @ cinMalcolm Floyd vs chiCrayton vs nygM. Lynch vs denverDunn @ minnWe get points per reception and points for return yards. That might make guys like Lynch, Crayton, Mason more attractive (who otherwise would not get TDs)[Edited on September 8, 2007 at 10:39 AM. Reason : sdf]
9/8/2007 10:17:42 AM
Yeah I've been looking at Jacoby Jones too, he was awesome in the preseason, but I already have Andre Johnson, don't really want to put all my eggs in Matt Schaub's basket, haha. But playing opposite of AJ will really help him to take up the double-teams.
9/8/2007 10:41:43 AM
Trying to pick a TE to start, 1 bad match-up and 2 good match-ups.Gates vs. Chi - good LB crew, but could get looks near the endzoneV. Davis vs. Ari - really good match-up(Current Starter)T. Gonzalez vs. Hou - good match-up but will Huard get that offense rolling?
9/8/2007 11:09:24 AM
how the hell did you get those 3 tight ends on the same team? can you say trade bait?
9/8/2007 11:18:52 AM
^^i would play Gates every single week...drop/trade one of the other TEs unless you have botha TE an a W/T spot
9/8/2007 11:33:31 AM
Even if he has a w/t spot, he should trade a TE to someone for a WR
9/8/2007 11:38:35 AM
Autodraft league, 10 teams, and it decides that I need a bunch of TE's, haha.I was using Tony G as trade bait but all anyone wanted to talk about was Gates, haha. I think after week 1 and their TE's get nadda in points they'll come looking for some help, haha.
9/8/2007 11:55:51 AM
i just proposed stallworth for marshawn lynch. good trade? i need some help at RB and i've got all those WR's i listed earlier
9/8/2007 12:03:19 PM
the more i see, the better i feel about crayton. he seems to be one of the best WR2 options around, and with a QB who likes to wing it, i think he'll be big. i don't like teams that split their reception numbers, so my other three wideouts are basically the only guys on their squad (evans, driver, and galloway) who will get the real looks.i couldn't get a 4th who was only a primary, and i just picked up crayton to fill that role. i'm looking forward to his numbers this week.
9/8/2007 12:19:42 PM
good WRs always emerge, as inevitable injuries happen around the league]
9/8/2007 12:20:26 PM
I'm reading some stuff on Yahoo, and this made me laugh...
9/8/2007 12:25:47 PM
^5 I would probably start Gates every week too, but if you were ever going to bench him, this would be the week against the BearsDon't be afraid to trade Gates either, if you're going to get a stud for him, someone you couldn't have gotten with the pick you used on Gates. When Todd Heap (doing Chunky Soup commercials this year) gets hurt, for instance, his owner may be desperate.I wouldn't worry about Huard, he ran the offense well last year. Wait until the Chiefs decide to go with Croyle to worry. ^^^^Getting Lynch for Stallworth would be a steal, even in a PPR league. Good luck with that.^^^Me too, I've thought Crayton was going to really well if he got playing time and stays healthy, here's his chance to prove me right or make me look foolish
9/8/2007 12:54:32 PM
9/8/2007 1:28:38 PM
^don't you know that the Bears were the best defense in the league against tight ends last year?http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef.phpif you don't trust those numbers, they gave up just 3 TDs last year to tight ends, held Shockey (66 recs) and McMichael (62 recs) to 1 catch each[Edited on September 8, 2007 at 1:47 PM. Reason : if..]
9/8/2007 1:36:44 PM
Shockey and McMichael can't hold Gates' jock...especially McMichael
9/8/2007 1:53:07 PM
^oh I know, no TE in the league can hold his jock yet. But what I am trying to say is that no one's defense could hold the Bears jock when it came to defending TE's last year. I did say that I would probably start Gates anyway, but I also stand by my statement that if you were ever going to bench him, it would be this week.
9/8/2007 1:56:11 PM
i'm just a firm believer in the fantasy strategy that if you have THE best player at a position, ie Gates, Manning, Ladainian...you play them 16 weeksbut i also believe when you bench a star, he'll do well...when you play him, he'll suck...lol[Edited on September 8, 2007 at 1:59 PM. Reason : .]
9/8/2007 1:59:02 PM
Well I have LT, Gates, and Kaeding, so I think I'll start LT and bench Gates.
9/8/2007 2:32:00 PM
Don't bench gates, dumbass. Playing matchups with star players is retarded.[Edited on September 8, 2007 at 2:51 PM. Reason : as]
9/8/2007 2:46:32 PM
^^I'm not going to call you a dumbass, but I want to make it clear that I would start Gates In case my "if you were ever going to bench Gates.." may have swayed you at all, it was just a hypotheticalReasoning: It depends on your league settings, but I have Gates scoring 130% as much as the 2nd best TE. As far as WR and TE go, even against the best defenses you wouldn't expect less than about 90% of their normal production. I am not pulling these numbers out of my ass I promise. [Edited on September 8, 2007 at 2:55 PM. Reason : reason]
9/8/2007 2:50:12 PM
start gates
9/8/2007 7:01:05 PM
I've got Tom Brady, Cutler and Gerrard. Do you think its safe to start Brady today?
9/9/2007 10:25:49 AM
pick two:mark claton (@ cinci), andre johnson (vs. KC), j-cotch (vs NE), matt jones (vs TENN).With Claton's injury, it's a bit of a toss up.not getting many reports saying he'll be in limited action, but he had a light practice schedule... if that's to be geared up for the game, or that's b/c that was all he could do, I can't tell.im leaning towards claton and johnson
9/9/2007 10:56:24 AM
^ yes^^ yeshmm stallworth or crayton at my W/TE spot?
9/9/2007 11:03:30 AM
I'm feeling Stallworth this week.Crayton may be a good start as the season goes on, but in the preseason, Brady and Stallworth seemed to have a really good chemistry.I'd go with Stallworth.
9/9/2007 11:27:14 AM
im in the stallworth camp for this week too
9/9/2007 11:34:12 AM
Greg Jennings is inactive today against the Eagles.
9/9/2007 11:44:21 AM
here's another oneCrayton, Marshaun Lynch, Jerry porter or Braylon edwards for my flex
9/9/2007 11:46:37 AM
and another one:mason or crayton
9/9/2007 11:52:59 AM
^^Edwards...#1 Wr on a team that will have to throw to compete^ Crayton...fast, long, and athletic #2 WR in a pass happy offense. He will benefit from the double teams that T.O. will face
9/9/2007 12:14:57 PM
With the Giants allowing 200+ yards in passing a game, I went ahead and picked up Crayton and am starting him instead of DJ Hackett due to his shared playing time... let's hope it pays off.
9/9/2007 12:56:43 PM
nice start for Welker
9/9/2007 1:51:17 PM
fuck, andre johnson 77 yard TD reception
9/9/2007 2:01:37 PM
I have Andre Johnson! [Edited on September 9, 2007 at 2:19 PM. Reason : Jerry Porter needs to produce for me today....got him over Glenn now ]
9/9/2007 2:18:34 PM
is santana moss even playing or is campbell just that bad?
9/9/2007 2:31:06 PM
miami's defense is good moss has been thrown to 3 times, and he has at least 1 drop IIRC
9/9/2007 2:33:11 PM
Anyone worth picking up, yet?
9/9/2007 2:37:28 PM
there, he has a catch[Edited on September 9, 2007 at 2:38 PM. Reason : ^welker if your league counts return yards, or is even moderately deep]
9/9/2007 2:37:50 PM
nah, dude was draftedI need a TEBrady and Moss are going nuts[Edited on September 9, 2007 at 2:52 PM. Reason : sdf]

I think Foster is going to be replacing McAlister as my #2 starter next week, because he is dominating today.
