I think scottrade charges you a regular trade (or you have to do it as a regular trade) to have dividends reinvested...

CREE is up 12% since I picked it up a month and a half ago, and thats not counting the $0.60/share that I made on puts and calls on it.

Back into BIDU at just under $106.

If you guys have some beer money to spare, get in now before close

But don't risk any rent money on it.

Delta was my worst purchase, ever.
I must get out before it's worth nothing. I've lost like 3823429348923847% on it.

If that's the case then it's one spot where my full-service brokerage wins. All my dividends are automatically reinvested free of charge...

^^^ that's something i was wondering today...

who exactly is paying that nickel per share for Delta? I mean, I don't understand how it has any value whatsoever, if the shares are about to be wiped out.

I suppose now it doesn't matter... Perhaps I can unload my $30 worth of Delta tomorrow on some unlucky sucker.
Then again I was stupid enough to buy it.

Live and learn.

^^ no, if you have shares of it, it doesn't matter. Sell it to anyone who'll ante up for it.

I'm just curious about the economics behind it...why would anyone pay even a nickel per share for it?

this is compelling:

Quote :
"Technical Analysis: NEM short-term downtrend (A) has not been able to break support (B) just above $40. When downtrend (A) is broken, expect a violent move through resistance (C) at $50 and a test of resistance (D) at $60. Resistance (C) at $60 will not hold for long. NEM target price is $80."

from: http://hipegg.blogspot.com/

i usually look at the charts and make a decision based on my eyeball analysis. i have never taken time to understand the finer points of technical analysis, but i think its a worthwhile exercise.

^ wouldn't beat self over it. another time i tried trading BIDU around earnings i got waxed. i've had ups and downs with that one, but i can't seem to quit it. over the life of the relationship, its been net pretty good to me. doubled on the IPO day and whatnot.

why don't you just buy the 4k of the vanguard 2050 through vanguard?

btw...it's a good fund. i also like the t rowe price target date funds if you are into that sort of thing.

I already have about 5 accounts, so I don't really want another one. Plus, I will be able to easily buy Fidelity, T Row, or whatever else in the future if I so desire. I just want to make sure Scottrade won't charge me any fees before I get it.

ah. i've got a brokerage through t rowe. can get most anything i want through there(but not everything). saw something online not too long ago about the webtrade sites with the most funds available. td ameritrade was at the top of the list with over 15000, if you don't already have an account with scottrade you may check them out first. specifically if you're interested in the target date funds check out the t rowe 2040 too (TRRDX). done well for me.

^ How's QQQQ doing these days?

I am interested in Target date. I think I decided to go with Vanguard b/c of lower fees / expense ratio. Yes, I already have a scottrade account.

I also understand the people still holding Ford should cash out on their winnings now.

Cause that shit is not coming out of the woods by 2009.

about a year ago, I bought a very tiny position in it with some of the spare change floating around my brokerage account. it's literally like a couple hundred bucks. it'll be long term by the time i get back from SERE school, and I might just sell it for the 25% return, then jump back in with a "real" position next time it makes a big dip.

I forgot to sell my Delta.
575 shares...worth $10.35.

There's seriously no point in spending $7 to save $10.
This is so sad it's laughable.

In other news GE had a good day.
