I think Lemke is involved with the Braves as minor league coach somehow (Blauser too), but I can't provide any links to prove it.

As for old school Braves:

Gene Garber
Ed Olvine
Cliff Speck
Bob Horner
Bruce Benedict

I remember those guys from their 87 Topps cards.

^ no doubt, but it is much more fun to pull out old school names for players who hardly played (other than Horner) and sucked than it is too pull out names like Zane Smith, Murphy, and Glenn Hubbard.

Oh yeah I just got another:

Another win for the Braves today 5-3 over the Padres - Johnson with a big bases clearing two out double. He is clutch.

Hudson looked okay - he allowed alot of hits/base runners, but worked out of jams. He also got tagged with a line drive to the arm, but seemed to be okay.

nice win today, also nice to get it against that tub of lard pitcher. Good to see the bullpen hold it together since Wickman has been out.

damn, Chipper gotten lucky twice tonight, first not getting hurt on the run to third, then the cf drops the ball and he gets a double.

Then Andrew and Jeff go back to back homers!

i wouldnt call the drop lucky.....id say the outfielder got lucky he didnt get a concussion for as hard as he hit the wall. Anytime you hit a ball that would hit the wall, you don't get lucky. The outfielder usually has to make a nice play to get it. Nonetheless, nice 6th inning and GREAT pitching

yea it was nice to see Chipper NOT get hurt on that play at 3rd.

#348 for Andruw and Bobby is tied with Sparky for #4 all time wins.

glad chipper was fine, the replay did not look good. I thought he might have broken his collar bone. That would have been a double whammy for me....

Thorman jumped up and hit a 3 run shot in the 3rd tonight. Braves have tacked on 3 more since then and lead 6-0 in the 6th inning

Scott Thorman hit his 2nd homer of the night. 5 RBI's for him....Chuck pitched 7 shutout 1 hit innings, then paronto came in and gave up a couple hits and 2 runs.

9-2 looks like it will be your final

chipper called out the unfair inter-league schedules of the mets and braves having to play teams like the bosox, yanks, twins, indians, etc. while the marlins and phillies play against teams like the d-rays and royals... good for chipper

I'd much rather see us play the Red Sox and Yankees...

Considering we are the Yankees of the South

What does that mean? The Yankees of the South? I've never heard the Braves described as that. They have won divisions a lot but have never had a real dynasty and they certainly don't have the same philosophy as far as building a team as the Yankees have had.

^^ I've been saying that for YEARS! The Marlins get the fucking Devil Ray's 6 times and now that the Braves have the Sox 6 times (which wasn't always the case up until '05 I believe) they and the Mets get fucked every year..

[Edited on May 14, 2007 at 12:39 PM. Reason : V 4 world series in 5 years >>> division wins.. now stop making me defend the scumbag yankees]

you've never heard this? I don't particularly like the comparison but I've heard this saying from just about every baseball fan I've encountered (especially from the North East)

plus, the Braves have like the 3rd largest payroll in MLB if my Yankees fan coworker is correct...i will find out..

whoa whoa whoa...

i don't think that's close to right

In fact, the Braves are 13th, the Mets are 3rd.

Dynasty takes more than 1 fucking championship you chump.

By your logic, I guess my Cardinals are a fucking dynasty since they have won the weak NL Central 4 out of 5 years.

The Braves are not a dynasty. I am as big a Braves fan as anyone, but I would never call the run of 14 straight division titles a dynasty. What the Yankees did from 96-2000 was a dynasty.

I would say that the Braves are one of the most successful organizations in history in terms of fielding a winner year in and year out, but not a dynasty in any way.

^ a winner in terms of championships = dynasty

a winner in terms of regular season victories = good team, no dynasty.

Honestly the Braves will be remembered for their division/playoff streak, but they will not be remembered like the recent Patriots or Yankees teams.

Smoltz out with either Broken or Dislocated pinky finger on his pitching hand. Did it applying the tag on a botched squeeze play.

McCann ends no hitter with a solo shot.

i was thinkin of the 2nd/3rd week of the season when we lost the last game of a 3 game series with the nats and then 3 days later we lost the first game of a 2 game series. Thats where i got that

Sounds like Smoltz will be okay - X-rays were negative. He was pissed at the time when the injury happened because he felt like Austin Kearns tried to hit him with his elbow (replays don't show that though) and Smoltz apologized for getting upset.

That fucking Bergman cocksucker has owned the Braves in his two starts against us this year. No hitter into the 8th!?!

Two losses in a row combined with the Mets wins and the Braves are back in second place

Chipper is still out too

Wickman was activated yesterday and Kevin Barry sent down to the minors. Bobby said that Wickman would be back in the closer role right away, but I wish he'd give him a couple of 7th innings to make sure he is okay. Soriano and Gonzalez were lights out while Wick was down.
