somebody recommend a good place in triangle to do an alignment on the m3…that’s not terribly expensive
11/2/2006 3:27:57 PM
custom specs or stock?
11/2/2006 9:01:22 PM
atlantic tire in cary...somehow I didn't get charged extra for custom specs
11/2/2006 9:22:18 PM
why would someone charge for custom specs? Either way its the same amount of work, which is little.
11/2/2006 11:10:25 PM
what do you all recommend? im lowered 1.2" up front and 0.6" back. car will not be tracked or autoX so i doubt i need aggresive settings.
11/2/2006 11:51:29 PM
any ol place can do it really. its not rocket science and if youre not after custom settings/advice/experience, then any monkey w/ a rack can pretty much do it. Atlantic Tire in Cary seems to run a tight ship and they worked out well for PJ
11/2/2006 11:57:48 PM
ok ill try em tomorrow. what do you recommend for specs?
11/3/2006 12:09:54 AM
as close to factory as possible.

is anyone interested in doing RTABs? mine are slightly cracked and i dont want to wait until winter ends to replace them. id like to buy a tool and maybe split the price. we can have a mod day if you will.
11/5/2006 11:51:01 PM
I've already done mine. maybe you can borrow the tool from someone online or something? btw the victory tool kinda sucks, but it does work. it can also be used to press in CAB bushings.I'd recommend OEM RTAB bushings w/ the delrin shims from GC. no noise, OEM lifetime, and the added stiffness w/ the shims is noticable. in case you were wondering.
11/6/2006 9:53:03 AM
no powerflex?
11/6/2006 10:13:35 AM
id not recommend it. itll be harsher, squeak, want to bind, and fall apart in 25k. i really don't see the need for it. if its a street/hpde car, OE plus the shims is all you need and more. if its a race car, you get bearings and fancier stuff.poly would be easier to install. but besides that i think it sucks
11/6/2006 11:16:44 AM
ok, good deal. OE it will be.

can any of you post your alignment specs. i went to atlantic tire, but the guy couldn't adjust my right rear camber because bolt was stuck and he couldn't use torch because it is close to bushing anyway so i got the following. i told him 1 degree more camber in the front than in the rear. right rear is stuck on 1.5 so he couldn't adjust this one to 1.0 to be equal with left rear. figured zero front toe because of tire wear and braking stability. i took dan's advice on slight rear toe (in).problem is car pulls the left noticably. pressures are 30/35 f/r. this is VERY annoying. control arm bushings are fine, suspension is brand new. wtf???at this point i dont give a crap about handling. i just want the car to go straight!front camber: -2.1/-2.1 (L/R)rear camber: -1.0/-1.5 (L/R)front toe: 0.00/0.01 (L/R)rear toe: 0.04/0.07 (L/R)caster: 6.7/6.9 (L/R)rear:cross camber: 0.5total toe: 0.11thrust angle: -0.02[Edited on November 13, 2006 at 2:44 PM. hahaha bastard

I'd get an alignment somewhere else. There's not anything significant wrong w/the specs you've posted. As for the un-adjustible rear camber, don't get on the guy too bad for that one. I've seen one too many broken adjusters, and it's a pretty big/annoying job to replace a bolt seized in that rear balljoint.Ahmet

i didnt get on him, but i would think that if they do alignment for living, they should have some tools for these situations. after all im not the only one with siezed bolt.anyhow, i can't now pick another shop. i already payed $80 here, so ill just go there tomorrow and see if they can realign with maybe more toe (in) in the rear.how is angle related to inch measurements? meaning total rear toe of 0.11 degrees would be how many inches?
11/13/2006 5:31:44 PM
thats not much rear toe at all. thats less than 1/16th total in. i run an 1/8th in which would be about 0.3deg total in. And even that isnt THAT much. 1/8th-3/16th is common for our cars.that could make things wonder a little on the highway, especially if on original RTABs. but it shouldnt make it pull to only one direction of course.I guess have em check it and add a little more toe in
