it's over . . . bullpen collapse again
6/18/2006 11:03:57 PM
how does McBride come in, and on 7 pitches, take out Ortiz and Manny.........and then walk 2 straight and give up a liner for a single to Fucking CoCo Crisp??? God our bullpen sucks. If i was a starting pitcher and i had a lead, i would never come out of the game.
6/18/2006 11:12:16 PM
people at turner field cheering for the red sox?that shit's embarassing
6/18/2006 11:15:27 PM
i know rightalso, fuck our bullpen
6/18/2006 11:48:37 PM
As I was watching last night's game, I just knew McFuckup was going to blow the shit out of that lead. I honestly think the Braves have just turned into the Royals. Since I live in Kansas, I see a bunch of Royals games and even in games which they should win you can always just tell that a loss is about to happen. It is kind of like when State plays UNC in football.
6/19/2006 9:48:26 AM
^ I used to live in Kansas City (last year). I never knew what it felt like to look up to the Nationals, Marlins, Phillies, and Mets... it sucks being 14 games behind...100 loss year anyone?
6/19/2006 10:00:56 AM
Can anyone give me one reason why we have Jore Sosa starting at 1-9. WE have got to have someone in the organization who can have a better record them him.2-0 already with men on and sosa is folding fast as usual.
6/20/2006 8:38:22 PM
interesting article from espn:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2493341Smoltz is one of the few on the team I do not want to see leave
6/20/2006 10:24:03 PM
yeah they had him talking about that during the sox series, he seems perfectly fine with the fact that he could be traded francouer just shot a cannon out of right field to nail to the runner at the plate, still 6-5 jays though
6/20/2006 10:25:32 PM
I would be pissed if we traded Smoltz. We need to send 90% of our bullpen down to minor league ball and trade saltlajsdlfkajs and some others for nothing but relievers.. i dont think ive ever seen us play this bad
6/20/2006 11:22:40 PM
A long year, sad year could get a lot longer and a lot sadder if we end up trading him.
6/20/2006 11:29:46 PM
I honestly dont think Shuerholtz(sp?) is stupid enough to trade him unless he asks to be traded. He's one of the only reasons people still go to the games is because he's been with us for so long.. he's the face of the Braves in my opinion
6/20/2006 11:34:28 PM
well we gave you him for doyle alexander in 87we'll take him back[Edited on June 20, 2006 at 11:58 PM. Reason : .]
6/20/2006 11:41:34 PM
aha that'd be a pretty good 17-year lease.
6/20/2006 11:53:31 PM
i am pretty sure he still calls Dearborn Heights, MI home
6/20/2006 11:56:54 PM
Well, lets look at the business side of it. Smoltz rakes in a good 15 - 20m a year. If we traded him (and Scheurholtz and staff have been known to make fantastic trades of verteran players towards the end of their productivity) that frees up a good 4 - 5 Dontrelle Willis'. Right now, with the shape of our starting rotation and relief, we surely could use 4 - 5 Dontrelle Willis'. I love John Smoltz, he's the last of the great Atlanta Pitching days to still be around... but I think it's time for a new era. We have got to fill the holes...
6/21/2006 8:47:17 AM
^ Actually Smoltz makes $8 million a year and the club has an option for $8 million in 2007. Considering what the Yanks and Mess are paying players on the open market like Farnsworth, Smoltz is quite a bargin and I think the Braves would be pretty damn stupid to trade him before getting rid of other guys like Giles or Renteria. Its not like we have a bunch of SPs who can step in for him, where as with Giles or Renteria, we have Betemit who can play right away.
6/21/2006 11:53:08 AM
Get outta here. The Mets have the 6th highest payroll in baseball. It's less then it has been at any time in the last 5 years! But yeah I'd exercise the $8M option just like I hope the Mets exercise Glavine's new '07 option. There is something to be said about consistency from a pitcher and you can't put a price tag on that in the day and age of paying players like Pavano and Burnett 10M+ to sit on the DL..
6/21/2006 11:58:13 AM
^ Don't try and tell me that the Mets aren't one of the teams driving the price of FAs through the roof. They basically go after every damn FA, which gives those player's agents leverage to get bigger deals. Fuck they have signed Pedro, Beltran, Delgado, Wagner, Glavine, etc all in the past few years. They are part of the problem with rising salaries.[Edited on June 21, 2006 at 2:55 PM. Reason : s]

FUCKbullpen is 15/30 in save opportunities this yearthat's fucking horrendousi'm a reds fan for the rest of the year
6/22/2006 11:14:06 PM
andruw just hit a 960 ft. homer
6/23/2006 7:22:23 PM
get rid of chipper and giles before smoltz, get cabrera and put betemit in the lineup everydaypick up some pitchers with the money you save and boom, you've got a team that won't lose 21 of 26
6/25/2006 12:18:45 PM
no one would want chipper
6/25/2006 12:47:35 PM
Chuck James looked great last night. Granted it was against the D-Rays, but any lefty that can get some outs is a plus. Also Sosa had a save and win over the weekend so hopefully he'll flourish in the closer role.
6/26/2006 10:13:05 AM
i remember when chipper was a focal point of the atlanta offense :x poor guy
6/26/2006 10:30:27 AM
The rumors keep swirling about Smoltz which is scaring me.. i thought he was just misquoted at first but Im beginning to wonder if we really are thinking of trading him. Steve Phillips said we should trade him to the Tigers(because they're in the playoff race and he is from Michigan) for their closer Zumaya and im sure some other players
6/26/2006 11:09:41 PM
smoltz is gonewe lost glavine, we can lose smoltzbut it still sucks
6/26/2006 11:12:00 PM
smoltz isnt going anywhere
6/27/2006 8:53:38 AM
I really doubt Smoltz will be traded, but if the Tigers really were going to give up a guy like Zumaya and maybe another good young arm, I think the Braves should consider it. This season is lost and next season will be too if we don't find some arms to stick in the pen. Plus Smoltz is likely done after next year anyway. A trade to the Tigers would atleast give him another go at the playoffs.
6/27/2006 12:08:26 PM
no body gives a shit the braves just beat the Yanks?good game. played good. Ramirez is our ace right now
6/27/2006 10:15:30 PM
i give a shit
6/27/2006 10:18:20 PM
Good win last night, really needed it. Hope we can get another one this afternoon, baby steps....On another note, 20 loses in June. The Braves haven't lost 20 games in June since 1952, when they were in Boston..
6/28/2006 7:40:50 AM
I think smotlz should go. He's getting old and while he still has 97mph on his heater, his time is limited. He's the last of the old Braves pitching dynasty. I think we have to start looking for that young tom glavine and young greg maddux again.good win. I'll take it. Ramirez looked good.

6/28/2006 10:40:08 AM
i give 2 shits.
6/28/2006 11:11:16 AM
maybe the braves overachieved the last 15 years
6/28/2006 11:15:43 AM
they've certainly overachieved the past two or three seasonsi have no problem admitting that
6/28/2006 2:12:50 PM
I'd rather overachieve for 15 years than underachieve....
6/28/2006 2:26:42 PM
wordwe're on top of the yankees again todaysmoltzie is looking good
6/28/2006 3:03:05 PM
bullpen disaster again.smotlz wants to be traded. I'd get tired of that shit
6/28/2006 3:25:32 PM

and fuck you
6/28/2006 3:29:00 PM
oh sweet kenny
6/28/2006 3:30:14 PM
it's a fact... we cannot, absolutely cannot, win one-run games.
6/28/2006 3:33:46 PM
oh come on- followed the yankees? we can't hang onto 6 run leads let alone come back down by one....maybe todays win overgood ole choke-lanta will turn things around though
6/28/2006 3:35:07 PM
please leave our thread of pain and misery
6/28/2006 3:35:48 PM
^^ You have Mariano Rivera - we have Ken Ray and now Jorge Sosa. Please stop your bitching.
6/28/2006 3:40:26 PM
yeah but Mo' isn't the Mo' of past- and u started Smoltz against Wong! should have worked us over
6/28/2006 3:44:13 PM
well here we go... francoeur on in the 9th...we need to win... we need to go like 45 of 47 to finish the season to get the NL EastAnd why is Giles batting 1st with a .235 average? And why is Laroche sill on the team? Have we killed Rietsma yet? I think he was worse than Kolb, and that's saying a hell of a lot.[Edited on June 28, 2006 at 3:45 PM. Reason : .]
