so I have a friend that claims getting out of raleigh would be the best thing to do. but snewf... where is the best place to go? if an all out zombie attack happened, there would be complete chaos as everyone tried to evacuate places of high population... how could you hope to escape in a situation where traffic is tied up, zombies are attacking, AND people are attacking you for your supplies, etc.

the best thing to do would be to hole up in an easily defendable place with access to plenty of supplies.

I think a well supplied and defendable cabin would be a good idea

preferrably something with two stories so you have a position to fall back to

^ideally, yes, being mobile would be great, but most of the roads are going to be impassable by cars, and there is only so much a moped or motorcycle could protect you, not to mention the inability to carry a large amount of supplies on one.

well what do you do once you are in the air? you can't fly it forever.

now a helicopter would be EXCELLENT
you could land it almost anywhere and escape without having to travel to a landing strip. you could land it on the top of a building, and be able to go get supplies for your group, and bring them back, assuming the building is secured on the bottom floor.

A properly defended position can't be overrun by sheer numbers alone.

It doesn't matter if there's a hundred zombies or a million in a place. Only so many of them can be directly adjacent to your building at any given time, which means that only so many of them can be pounding feebly at your defenses.

It isn't as though you have to kill them all. You just have to keep them out until they die, which is not nearly so difficult as covering large tracts of zombie-infested land when all the roads are clogged and your destination is uncertain.

^^wait a minute... your assuming a lot there.... you assume that the zombies will die due to their physical nature... that has been shown not to be true in some cases. also there will be a steady supply of new converts for a while, meaning that within 40 days a good portion will have died but it will probably take several months before you see a sharp decline due to physical death. assuming they die, arent reanimated dead. also you assume they are feeble zombies.... they could be like the ones in land of the dead and start learning....

well if the zombies don't die, the only thing that we can hope for is some sort of military action and counterattack. If that doesn't happen, then no matter where we go we will be living in a world perpetually overrun by zombies.


that being said, i am of the firm belief that the zombies reanimated bodies will eventually decompose, and they will eventually rot to "death." now that might take months, but it will eventually happen.


being in a secure place (the most secure place is a multi story building) that is properly barricaded, and that has supplies (food, water) will be the best chance of survival.
