were those lessons "get turkey from foodlion" and "if they are out, try harris teeter"? [Edited on May 12, 2007 at 5:01 PM. Reason : d]

No, the lessons were "scan the ENTIRE field before stepping close to the edge", and "keep your effing shotgun in your hands and always be ready, I know you have a sling, but its not best" because I can kill something and eat it myself.[Edited on May 12, 2007 at 5:19 PM. Reason : ]

yeah. those are probably good lessons. i like my lessons though. much easier. probably cheaper too. ammunition can be a lil expensive.
5/12/2007 5:11:41 PM
I know it was a joke, I didn't intend for it to seem like I was uptight. I wasn't. And I wasn't implying you were a puss either. It was just a comment. I can delete it if it hurts your feelings. And, not actually cheaper. Camo does not come into the equation because I use my camo for everything I hunt, which is 4 species. A box of High Power Turkey Loads are about $8 with 25 shells in a box = $0.32 per shell. One shell can kill a, lets say, 20 lb. bird. And lets say you pay $1 / lb. of turkey breast...You tell me which is cheaper...
5/12/2007 5:18:51 PM
woah, simmer down...it's summer break I can't do that math!
5/12/2007 5:22:14 PM
no need to apologize.but you also have to take into account that even though the ideal situation of the cost would be cheaper, if you don't actually kill a turkey, and you wanted to eat turkey. you'd still have to buy one. therefore you'd have to calculate the the cost of the turkey and the ammo used. and can't forget gas to get there, and product usage for rifle cleaning and such.
5/12/2007 5:26:26 PM
^^ Ummm...thats why I did it for you.^ Well, I never eat turkey right out of the woods. (Deer, yes, I eat it for breakfast the next morning, but the rest has to be aged if you want it to be good.) So, there is no eating it that night. I may not use any gas if I walk out the back door and to the woods. And it MAY cost $0.10 per gun cleaning...and that's going heavy on the Rem Oil!
5/12/2007 5:33:02 PM
well then that gun cleaning would probably cost like 2 dollars... we know how you like it heavy on the rem. time of turkey consumption isn't a factor.
5/12/2007 5:37:31 PM
Also, you wouldn't even have to clean the gun, and most people don't, unless you fire it or its rainy. You buy a bottle or rem oil, some pads, and the gun rod...and it lasts for a LOOOOONG time.
5/12/2007 5:40:48 PM
wait... you didn't fire?
5/12/2007 5:45:49 PM
No...I didn't bring one home did I? I don't fire unless I am positive.I have not *yet* fired at a big game animal and missed. I have missed doves and geese.
5/12/2007 6:03:11 PM
then cost out the window.because you didn't use any resources. except energy. so it'd be like going to the grocery store and not picking up the turkey.
5/12/2007 6:10:48 PM
Seriously though. Store bought/farm raised can absolutely NOT compare to Wild Turkey! It is by far the best bird around. Dove is a close second, then chicken, then store turkey.[Edited on May 12, 2007 at 6:13 PM. Reason : ]
