For a long time Trump has denied he has done anything wrong as POTUS. He has now gotten so brazen that he overtly screws the American public and the government and basically says to them:"Fuck you, y'all are too impotent to do anything about it."Karma... love it!

So corrupt, they'll investigate corruption.
9/20/2019 5:16:24 PM
Don't see how Trump gets out of this without impeachment. And why? I mean, Biden didn't even need investigating. He would've ended up doing himself in with something before the primaries ended. I guess in his mind there was honestly nothing wrong with it.

He's not being impeached by the senate either way and although I think he should be impeached for a bunch of domestic things, this doesn't seem like Trump did a crime at all and it seems to only be a big deal because of the passionate love for the Obama administration. Ignore the "having his political opponent investigated" part of the narrative for a second and answer some questions:Isn't it the duty of the executive branch to investigate possible crimes and corruption that has taken place by american citizens abroad? Can incidental quid pro quo count as quid pro quo? He asked him to investigate but didn't say "or else you won't get the money until you do this for me?"Investigating someone for something they already admitted in public isn't personal gain. I could see if it was something to benefit his hotel but Biden in jail doesn't even benefit Trump. Is biden supposed to have political immunity for any crimes he may have committed? Is Trump supposed to just overlook possible Biden corruption just because he might be running against him next year?I remember being so angry at Obama for not investigating the crimes committed by the Bush administration. He's now culpable for all they did.[Edited on September 23, 2019 at 4:00 PM. Reason : he hasn't done any swamp draining yet but this would definitely qualify]

MOST of that post is bullshit but
9/23/2019 4:35:07 PM
Obviously he is referring to conviction and removal, on which he is right. The other stuff is straight out of MAGA twitter and a complete misunderstanding of the entire situation. It’s always amazing how easily Earl falls for rightwing talking points.
9/23/2019 4:48:16 PM
IIRC, Impeachment just means formal charges of wrongdoing. It doesn't mean anything besides that. The Senate votes on removal, and you need 2/3rds of senators for it to happen.
9/23/2019 4:49:25 PM
9/23/2019 4:53:55 PM
I guess symbolically, it's important. Only 2 other presidents have both been impeached, and neither of them was removed from office. It will probably enthuse both dems/GOP come 2020, and waste lots of time and money in the process, but it's the right thing to do, so pull the trigger already.
9/23/2019 5:02:33 PM
Impeachment is good because it distracts Trump from doing other things, like starting a war with Iran.
9/23/2019 5:09:49 PM
And sends the signal Dems think his crimes are bad and worth investigating with the full power of the US house! And puts his corrupt, lying dirtbag administration member in front of the the camera under oath over and over! And makes Trump mad! And is the right thing to do! And puts Republicans on the hook to go on the record saying "this is OK!" etc etc etc
9/23/2019 5:37:24 PM
^none of that accomplishes anything tangible. I'd be for impeaching Trump if it was for the human rights violations but democrats can't push that because they'd be implicated so they have to look past all of the human rights violations and push some collusion part 2 bs. Whoops the whistleblower didn't even have first hand information. I'm starting to wonder if the whistleblower was actually working for Trump because this whole thing is playing out to his advantage....AGAIN

9/23/2019 8:23:45 PM
the only thing worse than impeachment without conviction (or trial, let's be honest mcconnell wouldn't even let there be a trial) is democrats not even impeaching
9/23/2019 8:31:12 PM
9/23/2019 8:39:21 PM
If the truth comes out, and it's as bad as it actually looks, the Dems need to be swift as fuck to impeach and get it over with ASAP. Like within a few weeks, tops. Barr had plenty of time to cover up the Mueller report, given how long that whole investigation took, and the public got bored/annoyed/frustrated with the lack of a smoking gun. Trump and his cronies don't have the same luxury of time to work with this go around. This story went from being a "rumor" less than a week ago, to Trump essentially full on admitting to it today. I called it last week with the Rudy meltdown, and everyone else should be able to see what's happening pretty easily. Time to act fast. The reality is that the narrative of "oh, the Senate will never impeach Trump" could actually change pretty damn quickly. In fact, plenty of spineless GOP cowards could very well decide to stab Trump in the back to save their own skins. This is all wishful thinking on my part, of course, because the grim reality is that Trump has already demonstrated he can get away with anything he wants and nothing will happen to him.[Edited on September 23, 2019 at 11:59 PM. He was so insanely off the rocker yesterday that it’s hard to tell but I think he was trying to say that she can’t control her caucus and far left runs the house. Also, the bananas CrowdStrike thing in the memo is definitely an effort to STILL absolve Russia of the DNC hacking. He is essentially chasing Seth Rich conspiracies (which I’m sure one or two on here love).

Access Hollywood tape was released 3 years ago today.Hard to believe, from today's vantage point, that there was serious consideration as to whether that might be a bridge too far--the thing that GOP voters finally wouldn't tolerate or excuse. Hell, I'm not even certain it makes the greatest hits album at this point.

I admittedly don’t know much about the Turkish-Kurd thing but it’s apparent this wasn’t thought out at all given the Kurds themselves nor any of our allies (UK or EU countries) knew it was going to be announced. He literally had a call with Erdogan and just did it...What’s the Earl/Blumenthal take on Erdogan? Is he a Golden God who just loves his people like al-Assad?https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/194484731801387008?s=21Thankfully, we have the biggest crusader against corruption our country has ever seen in office. Lindsey Graham and Nikki Haley have both asked Trump to reverse the decision.I don't really understand the broader implications of pulling out and giving Turkey free reign, but I can't see how burning one of our longest allies that fought closely with our people can result in anything good. This has to be demoralizing for American soldiers that fought with these people too.
10/7/2019 10:20:37 AM
I recently watched a TV show (on Vice maybe) that showed ex-US soldiers still over there voluntarily fighting with the Kurds. In other news: https://www.wral.com/judge-tosses-out-trump-challenge-to-tax-return-turnover/18682134/https://www.npr.org/2019/10/07/767830713/federal-judge-rules-trump-must-hand-over-8-years-of-tax-returns[Edited on October 7, 2019 at 10:52 AM. Make no mistake. Wanting to protect the Kurds and thinking the US should be physically involved with boots on the ground are two completely different things. I don't like Turkey being able to go in there but the US has NO BUSINESS over there. We need to put diplomatic pressure on Turkey to leave the Kurds alone but we don't need to be arming anyone or fighting anyone. We could quid pro quo or alliance with Turkey which sounds like what he's already threatening. Syria is not our responsibility. Work on home. All in all the US getting out of the region is one of the best things I've ever heard in foreign policy. I probably disagree with Trump's reasoning but am happy about this result. Fuck Turkey though. Honestly we don't need them in NATO. NATO probably needs to be dissolved anyway. We certainly shouldn't be obliged to helping Turkey unconditionally. [Edited on October 7, 2019 at 6:50 PM. Apparently a week ago the US negotiated a deal where we defend the Kurds in exchange the Kurds remove fortifications.https://www.militarytimes.com/flashpoints/2019/09/03/us-backed-syrian-kurds-to-remove-fortifications-from-turkish-border-as-part-of-safe-zone-deal/It appears trumps agreement with Assad blew this deal up.
