Dan Patrick a few minutes ago:"North Carolina football team is in a heap of trouble .... but don't you have to be GOOD to get in trouble?"lulz abound

So Andrew Jones apparently writes for FOX Sports now. Anyway, another dig at Butch's "I knew nothing" stance:

I'm usually not one to cry media conspiracy, but how the fuck is a UNC basketball piece the lead story in the N&O today?nm, it's based on when they were posted durrr[Edited on June 22, 2011 at 10:36 AM. Reason : .]
6/22/2011 10:35:45 AM
ok, I understand how Butch manages to avoid scrutiny on the "you can't fault the head coach if his assistants really want to break the rules"But if Jim Tressel gets LOIC at OSU for not reporting violations he knew about to the NCAA, how does UNC NOT get LOIC by refusing to follow up on problems to see if there were any violations?
6/22/2011 10:47:45 AM
UNC b-ball's 'Big 3' is the front-and-center story in the Winston-Salem Journal today. The notice of allegations story is conveniently pushed to the far right side.I almost posted in the NCSU conspiracy thread today.
6/22/2011 10:47:48 AM
Can someone explain to me why anyone would give two shits about vacating wins from the last 3 years? They didn't win the division, conference or national titles during that period. Who gives a fuck...how can that be seen as a harsh punishment???
6/22/2011 11:07:00 AM
^exactly.
6/22/2011 11:10:19 AM
Yeah, can somebody who knows more than me explain how vacating past wins is really punishment? I'm just hoping for a loss of scholarships and bowl bans, to hopefully help our recruiting. That's what I care about.
6/22/2011 11:13:26 AM
I've never really seen it as much of a punishment in any circumstance. Even if a school has to remove a national championship from their official NCAA record it's not like they didn't still win the damn thing, and everyone knows it.
6/22/2011 11:13:59 AM
vacating wins is not a punishment really. Although, if they have to give up last year's wins then they still haven't won at UVA since 1981, lol
6/22/2011 11:14:52 AM
^againI wake up every day with a little more hatred than my original extreme hatred for the athletics of UNC-CH.It should be noted that I also completely hate their fan base and student body.I do not mind their level of education they provide to all of the hated parties.

"if this was basketball, yea...we'd care. but since it's not, we don't"from a UNC friend.
6/22/2011 11:18:29 AM
I don't care about past wins. It means nothing. They didn't win jack shit. I want bowl bans and scholarship cuts. I dont want loss of tv because: A) that hurts the teams they play, unfairly. B) I want the announcers to keep talking about the how dirty they are. Granted they've danced around the issues and keep talking about the "adversity" but the announcers should be required to talk about the infractions in detail.
6/22/2011 11:20:01 AM
anyone know where to get a red "i support butch" shirt? now's as good a time as any[Edited on June 22, 2011 at 11:21 AM. Reason : COME ON GUYS BUTCH NEEDS OUR SUPPORT][Edited on June 22, 2011 at 11:22 AM. Reason : WITCH-HUNT]

im sure a sports shirt shop could conjure up some letters and iron them on a shirt for you
6/22/2011 11:22:53 AM
loss of scholarships and bowls are absolutely the right thing to do here. Vacating past wins is bullshit. Calipari is living proof that it is a useless punishment.
6/22/2011 11:23:26 AM
you guys must not ever have UNC fans trying to say that Butch > TOB or UNC > NCSU based on their respective records over the last 4 years, even if you just say 'scoreboard' and they dont get itwhile vacating past wins doesn't mean shit if you don't win any titles, it will at least shut up UNC fans from trying to brag about their 'consecutive seasons over .500' and bullshit like thati'm all for anything to shut those fuckers up]
6/22/2011 11:45:15 AM
I see UNC fans referencing this a lot lately...showing how "dirty" NC State's program is historically. I don't know how many of the violations are considered "major" for UNC...but they'd be high up on this list once the final ruling is handed down...correct?http://bleacherreport.com/articles/428918-most-ncaa-infractions-the-record-no-team-wants-to-holdI think that article, even though it's from the bleacher report, may be more accurate and recent since it lists USC.[Edited on June 22, 2011 at 11:50 AM. 6/22/2011 11:47:45 AM
if they can use this investigation as an excuse for not winning the nat'l title, i dont think they'll have an issue with trying to use it as an excuse for not having their +.500 seasons
6/22/2011 11:47:50 AM
It is impossible to shut them up. If they even find a turd that is Light Blue they'll spin something positive about it.
6/22/2011 11:49:18 AM
5 years ago i didnt hear a peep out of them about football, i'd rather it go back to the way it was where they all stfu when its not bball season]
6/22/2011 11:55:28 AM
^^^^ I know State, and UNC, both have the point shaving thing from the '50s. The Thompson 'violation' in '73 was bullshit, and us getting LOIC in the late '80's/early 90's for players selling shoes & tickets was bullshit (not that it wasn't a violation, it just shouldn't have been LOIC and was all way overstated by the N&O and Personal Fouls). This FB investigation alone should bump UNC up a few spots since it includes at least 6 major violations.[Edited on June 22, 2011 at 11:56 AM. Reason : tbdv]
6/22/2011 11:55:45 AM
I want:1. Vacated wins2. Scholarship losses3. Bowl ban4. ACC Championship ban5. Top-25 ranking ban6. TV ban for select games (we don't want the State game to not be televised, for example)I want them to not be recognized even if they somehow do well. Basically anything that will hinder their spirit that makes the players think: "Why bother trying to win this game?"I want local HS recruits to be quoted in newspapers saying, "I grew up a UNC fan, but I thought about it and decided, why go to a school that has these violations, where we'll never play in a bowl game or contend for the ACC Championship, and never play on national TV?"[Edited on June 22, 2011 at 12:17 PM. how do TV bans work? it doesn't seem fair to not televise, say, UNC/Miami or UNC/State because UNC fucked up.
6/22/2011 12:14:47 PM
i think it all comes down to if they want to set an example or not. the infractions are there, if someone in the ncaa wants to send an enforcement message.
6/22/2011 12:18:58 PM
6/22/2011 12:20:01 PM
i mean they could conceivably blackout the game in NC and have it still being shown in FL

correction, every State football fan who wants us to inherently be able to recruit better locally should...
6/22/2011 1:01:52 PM
how about any fan of any other school in competition for recruits
6/22/2011 1:04:32 PM
yep, a loss of scholarships and bowl bans would probably result in a few more in-state recruits a year for the wolfpack. and being a state fan, that'd be pretty cool.

I am usually the last to complain about something like this, but the fact that this is a bigger story nationally (SI.com) than locally (N&O) is absolutely ludicrous
