You guys were busy last night!

#1) Fuck Herb Sendek. He is a pussy. (no offense ncstatetke!)

#2) When gauging a coaches performance and the direction a program is heading, it's only natural to compare how we are doing under the current coach with how we were doing with the previous coach as one of the ways to do it.

#3) I think pretty much everybody would want Lowe gone if it weren't for two highschool kids. These two highschool kids are basically holding our entire basketball program hostage.

nah. i think there's lots of people who know that he's certainly not been a great coach, and realize that he may not be the best long-term solution, but are realistic and realize that getting rid of him now or after this season would be more detrimental to the team than any positives that may come. Whether those two high school players were coming next year or not.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure if it weren't for Harrown/'Zo Lowe would be catching the heat he is now times 50.

You really have to have your head stuck in the ground to think that fans wouldn't be more upset with the four straight (assuming this year) double-digit ACC finishes and zero NCAA Tourney appearances if we didn't have the two studs coming in next year.

Honestly, I have seen nothing to show me he can coach aside from one player (Costner) getting incredibly hot at the right time...

I'm talking more about in-game coaching.

Not developing players. Though he hasn't done a great job of developing players aside from Javi IMO. I have given Lowe credit on numerous occasions for Javi's improvement though -- just saying that so you don't think I'm a raving Lowe-hater.

That was my point. I don't think there would be many positives in letting him go right now and trying to find someone else who's willing to come. I think there'd be mostly negatives.

So Mays, Degand, Horner, and Smith haven't improved while being coached by Lowe?

And you don't think Howell, Wood, Vandenburg, Painter, Howell and Davis are going to be better the more games they play? If they do, I'm sure it's just the player's drive to be better. If they don't progress, it's all on the coach.

I understand that...there are some in game decisions that leave me scratching my head.

But I do think that the shear raw effort the team is showing this year shows that the players believe in him and that is huge....We're just talent deficient, which why our first real, complete ACC caliber recruiting class next year is critical. Once (if) the ball gets rolling, more and more top flight talent will want to come here....Which imo, makes it worth holding out until next year regardless of what happens this year.

Beating UNC, WFU, Duke and G tech (more talented teams). If you look we have had a couple losses to less talented teams (Virginia this year) but in general our losses aren't that surprising. Given an evaluation of our talent, injuries, and lack of solid guard talent we have won just as many head scratchers as we have lost. Probably to be expected when you are attempting to change from a weave and heave to a standard low post oriented offense.

Minimal improvement is natural as bodies mature and being in ANY regimental college system will improve you physically.

What kind of question is that? I don't know if they will and neither do you. i suspect they will obviously (see my first point). Costner, Fells and McCauley didn't. And two of those three were much higher recruits than everyone you listed.

^^ to your point, I see some more effort on the defensive side, but I still see a lot of standing around on offense. I know Lowe tries to play an Iso-offense but that doesn't mean it's 1 guy and then the other four playing four corners!

With as many of our minutes going to freshmen this year the N&O should be running stories about how we're the youngest team in the ACC and how all the playing experience is going to make us really awesome in the years to come, especially with Butch Davis' Sidney Lowe's star recruiting classes

UNC this year is probably younger than us. Or at least it's close. Especially with Ginyard and Graves missing some time.

Seriously? Smith maybe but come on he was a 4* recruit. He was pretty good when he got here.

Mays still sucks ass and should be playing in the SoCon, Degand is wild and out of control, and Horner lol the guy everyone wants to play less.

I think all in all Lowe is an ok coach and know how to run somewhat of a team, but I think he lacks leadership and confidence building skills. I don't think he really knows how to instill confidence and get our guys pumped up. After every game he always thinks we tried hard etc. etc. rather than being pissed off that we played like loser.

LOL at the Smith and Horner comments, how can you not acknowledge both of those players have improved significantly under Lowe? As for Mays and Degand, certainly less improvement for Mays so far but he is still just a Sophomore, Degand is much more under control this year and I think compliments Javi pretty well when they are both in the game.

I agree that Javi, Horner, and Smith have all gotten better, but only Smith is truly an impact player.

Horner has gotten better only because our talent is so thin he has been given the minutes to improve and get stats. On any reasonably decent team, he'd barely see the floor.

Javi is definitely better and my favorite player on the team and I think Lowe/Towe deserve a lot of credit for his improvement.

Lowe just needs to stop his crazy substitution patterns and let our best players play. Take them out if they get tired or in foul trouble, but don't yank Javi just because he makes one bad pass or takes one bad shot.

I have been told by several users in this thread that the 10+ man rotation that we currently run is just fine for our team, and then called an idiot, stupid, etc. and that I have zero knowledge of basketball for even questioning Sidney Lowe.

^^^ Yeah I saw it last year too, but I felt that last year it was more related to effort. This year just doesn't make any damn sense.

my problem, last year and this, is that he would substitute out players that were doing well or on a hot streak.

I noticed it more last year than this, but it still happens. Effort I can understand; he is teaching even during games.

The only thing I think we can possible give Lowe to this point is that maybe, and I mean MAYBE the guys are doing things that he is specifically discussing in practice etc and that's why you see him pull people out. He keeps saying the guys are fighting for starting positions and time etc, and they determine who plays etc. End of the day we are going to make mistakes... and I think Javi is always a better choice than Mays, unless obviously reason(breather/fouls/etc).

Ding! And Parks you never said anything about Javi, he obviously has showed a lot of improvement.

Mays/Williams are not improving, if anything taking steps backward especially in CJ's case. He showed promise last year. What happened? He's our new Fells....very talented but not aggressive at all.
