And you guys are probably reading the same thing I am reading. Apparently if your contract ends anytime in 2010, they will give you the special price. They go on sale on June 24th. (earlier than I thought)

"There are some big new features -- the first being multitasking. People said you weren't the first, but we figured it out. If you don't do it right, you kill the battery."Yeah and they didn't want to give us the choice to do what we liked with the phones we paid for. So you either have to jailbreak or switch to another platform.
6/7/2010 2:48:06 PM
so that means folks that got a 3gs through AT&T wont be eligible for the upgrade
6/7/2010 2:48:55 PM
sure you're eligible, it just costs you alot more money
6/7/2010 2:50:03 PM
so...any thoughts on how much HD vid recording you can get on a 16GB? I don't keep many songs on my iphone and have plenty of space on my current 8GB. I'd rather save 100 bucks over the 32GB if I can...[Edited on June 7, 2010 at 2:51 PM. Reason : glass 30x harder than plastic per apple...]

You'll probably pay the full price. This is why I didnt jump last year. I have had the 3G for almost 2 years, and last year saw very little improvement to make it worth upgrading. This, on the other hand, is a huge upgrade from a 3G.^ probably a couple of hours? I would probably go to the Flip video site, and compare the record time and their storage capacity for a good comparison. they are probably going to be equal or about the same.[Edited on June 7, 2010 at 2:52 PM. I got a 3gs at launch day and the text response was
6/7/2010 3:00:16 PM
they said at the keynote that if your contract ends this year you can upgrade early^yeah i got that too. I got mine last year, contract is up in 2011. confusing.[Edited on June 7, 2010 at 3:01 PM. Reason : *]

I'm sure it's tied to how much you spend monthly just like it's always been.
6/7/2010 3:01:17 PM
all this upgrade shit seems so odd, i still have a 3G and got:
6/7/2010 3:04:40 PM
my response was "the information you requested is not available at this time"prob cause its a business account i guess.
6/7/2010 3:05:57 PM

^^yeah, you're right. I guess buying new hardware doesn't really qualify as a new customer for AT&T.It's like everyone is forgetting what happened last year. all the people that bought launch 3G's were so pissed they didn't qualify to get a new 3GS and they bitched up a storm and AT&T eventually caved. They are just saving everyone the trouble of bitching this time around.^Have you done the *new# thing recently? I checked last week and it said I wasn't eligible, but I checked again today and I am. They made a lot of changes this weekend supposedly. I don't know why anyone that has a 3GS wouldn't upgrade. Wouldn't the cost of buying an iPhone4 be offset by the money you'd get for selling your 3GS on craigslist? That's what I'm planning on doing. The only thing that has me even a little bit reluctant to upgrade is the lack of a jailbreak. But I'm sure that won't take too awful long, and I have my iPad to tide me over until then. Then again, I guess not everyone is iPhone4life.]
6/7/2010 3:36:15 PM
gonna wait to see if windows phone 7 turns out ok and if not prob get an iphone 5
6/7/2010 3:42:46 PM
Currently in gadget shock, if you threw me in an Apple Store right now I'd probably buy it. I'm gonna hold strong though and wait until my contract runs out, then evaluate my options in the Android market/other carriers.
6/7/2010 3:44:17 PM
what happened to the verizon iphone?
