We are who we thought we were
1/15/2022 3:28:09 PM
We kept it closer than I thought but they had too many athletes and are way bigger than we are. I wish Dowouna didn’t miss just about every put back he tries.
1/15/2022 10:47:09 PM
Yeah honestly, I can't be mad. We played ok. We were undermanned to keep up with a team as polished and deep as DukeAlso, that "Dirt Sheet" is the most sad and pathetic thing I've seen in a while. Don't even get me started on the "Cameron Crazies" either. Overrated as hell. When State was up at the start of the game, the only thing "crazy" was how apathetic they seemed.
1/16/2022 9:08:43 AM
Somebody else, maybe Joe Ovies?, posted the rest of that sheet. It included making fun of players for having good grades…very weird. It’s all very cringeworthy. Also heckling Terq by shouting his nickname when he gets the ball? That sounds a lot like cheering him on. Which, again, very weird!
1/16/2022 9:44:45 AM
Back when I was a student, the crazies sort of got under my skin. Now I'm fairly indifferent and able to tune them out.
1/16/2022 9:58:28 AM
98% of what they do is just lame, only annoying for the over hype. The phone number thing is actively fucked up.
1/16/2022 11:38:12 AM
The phone number thing is for sure fucked up. Otherwise they generally lack creativity and are lame if not outright cringeworthy. Rowdy student sections are part of what makes college games fun. Coordinated chants and “in depth” research sheets about what to yell at the players is for sure lame. Be loud. Be creative. Be mean, I don’t care. The rowdiness is way cooler and more fun (and real) when it’s no coordinated.
1/16/2022 12:46:43 PM
Yeah that phone number thing is fucked up. They should heckle players for their alleged venereal diseases.
1/16/2022 1:46:40 PM
Remember when Duke fans allegedly chanted “how’s your grandma?” at Tyler Lewis after his grandma died…Except that according to everybody there they actually didn’t chant that at all. I maintain that they aren’t creative enough to chant such a mean thing. They don’t have the balls to chant something that mean.
1/16/2022 2:50:40 PM
^^lol touche

https://packinsider.com/2022/01/17/our-take-on-nc-states-loss-to-8-duke-and-what-adjustments-wed-like-to-see-moving-forward/I pretty much agree with this take. We are at the point in the season where it's time to start taking our lumps with guys who are gonna be here next year. Right now, Ross is probably about even with Ebe but he has WAY more upside offensively and the more he plays this year, the more prepared he will be to be a guy next year. I'm at a point with Hayes where I have a hard time seeing him turn it around and I think Pass plays more consistently as the backup ball handler to Seabron. I actually like Allen in the role he is in, but I would like to see some of his minutes go to Morsell. Not to harp on old shit, but the main reason why it's so important to get Pass and Ross in there is that had we taken this approach with DD went down last year and let Shak start eating up minutes, things may have turned out differently in the offseason. Things are already looking bleak in the coming years, but if we lose either of them, we may as well pack it in.
1/17/2022 12:02:53 PM
Ross is hurt
1/17/2022 1:23:49 PM
Yes, of course. I mean, presumably it's not season-ending right?
1/17/2022 1:48:51 PM
I thought that might be in response to him not playing. Peace
1/17/2022 4:52:49 PM
1/19/2022 6:24:38 PM
I assume he won’t be able to redshirt at this point which sucks
1/19/2022 6:33:19 PM
Not a good start!
1/19/2022 7:14:11 PM
Pathetic
1/19/2022 7:30:38 PM
These games with announcers at home are such garbage. Announcers keep saying they called goaltend on VT but the score gave them 2 points, I’m pretty certain. And it wasn’t actually a goaltend so I don’t think it was called. Production and presentation really suffers when announcers aren’t in person. Pretty sure they also missed the opening tip. And the only thing on before this was a replay of last nights Duke game. Shitty production for a shitty game. Fitting [Edited on January 19, 2022 at 7:47 PM. Reason : A]
1/19/2022 7:41:47 PM
You'll notice Duke and UNC always have in person announcers, so this isn't a covid thing. It's solely a cost cutting measure by ESPN. Fuck them. Also turns out spotting a team a 15 point lead is bad]
1/19/2022 7:49:42 PM
I checked the score and decided I'm watching the Hornets instead
1/19/2022 7:50:20 PM
Kinda thought that was a clean steal before the TO. But they called a foul. Of course this awful production doesn’t show a replay. It was a kick ball. Further illustrating how awful the announcers are. Offense coming alive. Need stops[Edited on January 19, 2022 at 8:09 PM. Reason : A]
1/19/2022 8:07:44 PM
Bench Hayes
1/19/2022 8:19:26 PM
T Hayes for that? Wtf that’s weak as hell
1/19/2022 8:19:50 PM
Def need Hayes to not suck. But that was a weak fucking call
1/19/2022 8:20:33 PM
That's been a point of emphasis, interfering with the ball after a made basket. Gotta pass it directly to a ref or not touch it at all
1/19/2022 8:22:12 PM
That’s a clean steal
1/19/2022 8:22:59 PM
Ref legit had his back partially turned and walking upcourt, away from the play before making that call on Morsell. Such horseshit.
1/19/2022 8:23:30 PM
^he was looking at the play, just made a really poor call
1/19/2022 8:24:47 PM
1/19/2022 8:26:24 PM
This dudes name is Storm Murphy? What a name
1/19/2022 8:35:28 PM
We got no answer for Aluma and Mutts. Surprised VT hasn’t been feeding them more down the stretch
1/19/2022 8:42:15 PM
Welp
1/19/2022 8:44:10 PM
Refs just love making big calls. Ref really into the charge call and then the very next possession he really leaned into the travel call on VT. Very funny to watch[Edited on January 19, 2022 at 8:46 PM. Reason : Terrible in bounds pass. And why throw to Ebe anyways? Lol]
1/19/2022 8:45:27 PM
Man when seabron isn't scoring you start to notice his (lack of) defense and rebounding
1/19/2022 8:47:46 PM
How’s that not intentional foul on VT? He grabbed Morsells arm to prevent him from even getting up an attempt.
1/19/2022 8:48:49 PM
Seabron > Virginia Tech > the rest of our team
1/19/2022 8:49:42 PM
Was waiting for the tech for hanging on the rim
1/19/2022 8:50:15 PM
Lol he immediately gets 2 steals! And I was wrong about rebounding most games
1/19/2022 8:50:30 PM
Absolutely hilarious last 45 seconds. VT turnovers. State backcourt.
1/19/2022 8:51:26 PM
Baby T or Morsell for 3 here? Hellems the better shooter but usually can’t create much on his own for 3s[Edited on January 19, 2022 at 8:57 PM. Reason : A]
1/19/2022 8:56:55 PM
9-7 vt on the bubble?
1/19/2022 8:59:28 PM
Cool play
1/19/2022 9:00:06 PM
Whoops^Keatts should have said DONT dribble off your foot smh[Edited on January 19, 2022 at 9:00 PM. Reason : E]
1/19/2022 9:00:11 PM
KK is awful out of timeouts. Telling Baby T to dribble off his foot…Or in that other game when he told Hellems to throw it off the sideline when in bounding. Smh. Seabron didn’t have a great game. Hayes sucks. Virtually no production from our big men. We missed FTs. It was a miracle we kept it close.
1/19/2022 9:05:04 PM
Just saying maybe NOT taking the timeout there might be okay
1/19/2022 9:08:01 PM
One of our issues imo is we run nba style schemes, lots of 1on1/PnRs on O and position independent switching on D, only problem is we don't really have the talent for either (outside of Seabron for the former). On O even seabron gets stifled by doubles bc nobody is scared of Ebe rolling, nobody else really has that off the dribble talent. On D in theory it reduces open shots bc we aren't going over or under picks but auto switching, but in reality it means they pick match ups. Ebe got dusted on the perimeter multiple times and we frequently had smalls on bugs resulting in either easy inside scores, double teams leaving shooters open and/or easy O rebounds. Also me shitting on seabron D is mostly about off ball, he seems to get lost on help and be too slow to recover too often. He was odd man out on lots of scores.
1/19/2022 9:12:16 PM
I would have been fine with letting them play it out with no TO. Hard to tell what the play actually way…Hellems was on the right side, looked like he was ready for a catch and shoot. Allen was in (after starting and then we got down 13-0 and he didn’t come in again til the end) so maybe he was an option but I didn’t see where he was on the floor
1/19/2022 9:13:29 PM
And Allen had a 6 trillion (do trillions allow for missed fgs?) after starting[Edited on January 19, 2022 at 9:15 PM. Reason : Maybe not but still]
1/19/2022 9:14:24 PM
We really fucked up a few double teams defensively. We’d double on Mutts and leave Aluma or somebody wide open for an easy layup. Seemed like an intentional choice to double, but obviously poor execution.
