delegate-wise, Iowa is very small of course. narrative wise, it carried a lot of potential. but the IDP fuckup and the bernie/buttigieg dynamic for 1st has drowned out coverage of every other candidate. not to mention impeachment and SOTU coverage, the entire thing was just a mess. but anyways, life goes on...sorry to repost, but this is just too on pointlast night Yang did a CNN Town Hall. I thought he did very well.[Edited on February 6, 2020 at 12:43 PM. Reason : debate night on Friday ]

The big question: will Yang ever reveal the location of the 3 missing voters???https://twitter.com/Nate_Cohn/status/1225612299513344002?s=19
2/6/2020 11:12:51 PM
^^ Right his CNN Town Hall was rated the highest among the candidates. He's really good at it. Let's see what he can do tonight.
2/7/2020 8:53:07 AM
qntmken, do you have a job lined up if he doesn't get the nomination? 2024 will be his time to shine.
2/7/2020 3:05:01 PM
The campaign has already started layoffs but with 1 month severance
2/7/2020 3:34:18 PM
This is random but I realized the prediction guy from the previous was wrong about Trump, his model predicts popular vote winners not electoral college. He predicted Trump would win the popular vote. His model also predicted Gore in 2000, despite him saying in that interview that people like gore don't win. Of course in that case he was right about the popular vote, but wrong about the winner.
2/7/2020 3:44:40 PM
I also pointed that out, his prediction was wrong by millions of votes
2/7/2020 4:42:24 PM

proud of the campaign. certainly defied a lot of odds. shame it had to end this way. good luck to you all.
2/11/2020 8:10:44 PM
Damn, I was excited about Yang and really hoped he was going a bit further in the campaign. What's next for you @qntmfred, is there another candidate you're going to support actively or passively?
2/11/2020 8:23:28 PM
No, he's gonna vote Trump now.
2/11/2020 8:31:23 PM
I enthusiastically supported Bernie in the 2016 primary and I think he's the only candidate remaining who has any chance of beating Trump. If any of the other candidates end up winning the Dem nomination, it'll just further entrench the dynamics of this party that has led so many Americans to disengage with national politics or worse drive them to the GOP. I do have many concerns about Bernie's policies and the approach to politics he and his revolution have taken especially since his 2016 defeat and subsequent PTSD, but at least he's not straight up corrupt like Trump is.just like Bernie's movement didn't evaporate overnight in 2016, I suspect neither will Yang's. The problems that got Trump elected still exist.[Edited on February 11, 2020 at 9:03 PM. Reason : .]

I am going to Birnie’s rally this Friday in Durham.Pretty disappointing ending, but very much as I expected from the beginning. He’s a political Jeremy Lin who created this sensational Yang Gang movement like Linsanity in sport. As time goes by, he will be remembered as an Asian MLK.
2/11/2020 9:11:50 PM
does this mean i’m not getting $1000

I certainly did not think he had a chance, but why now?

back to what i asked at the very beginning of this: what is his goal? just awareness for UBI? Is he going to run for congress? he's genuine enough that i don't believe it was about selling books, or about wanting to be a future media talking head, etc... but what is his goal?
2/12/2020 9:51:11 AM
On the national standpoint, he wants to promote racial equality for Asian Americans, according to his mother. Personally, my guess, he wants to enlarge the influence of Yang/Young kin/family and become a billionaire.

He did just like MLK 55 years ago. The difference is, MLK is only an activist and leader in the Civil Rights Movement; Yang just directly targets the big chair--fighting for the dream of Asian POTUS.

2/12/2020 4:11:19 PM
Just like a startup with a lot of investments attracted suddenly announces bankruptcy and seeks protection in one night. Employees definitely blame their boss. Who else could they blame? They should have expected this happens and mentally prepared for it.
2/12/2020 4:32:50 PM
It's THEIR fault that the guy who made them a bunch of promises didn't deliver on them, and then blamed it on someone else? They should have known better? Welcome to America, shoot! Time to get a law degree and make some money!

As a previous volunteer, I did see many folks dreaming about Andrew bringing them to DC and Capital Hill, while I knew the days of his campaign were numbered.

it is true that the campaign laid off dozens of staffers in the days after Iowa. it is also true that some were taken by surprise and/or disappointed by the unexpected move and reacted as one might expect. it's a campaign though. they often do end suddenly when the money runs out. Campaign Workers Guild members in particular should know this. I know many laid off staffers continued to work as volunteers until the campaign was suspended. [Edited on February 12, 2020 at 6:36 PM. Lol at not telling people and just cutting off their email accounts
2/12/2020 6:46:32 PM
I know of exactly 1 such incident. Yang ended up calling her directly to apologize, and then she left Iowa for New Hampshire to continue work as a volunteer. Not saying that was the only incident, bc of course I don't know 100%, but word does get around.I do recall when I would open email and google would spazz for a second before prompting to log in again, there was always a split second in my mind I wondered if it was over lol. so I can understand if this is how anybody did find out their job was over, it would be frustrating[Edited on February 12, 2020 at 7:01 PM. well one of the people interviewed was a dude, so it sounds like you just didn't hear about all of the instancesalso, some guild members claimed they were fired or relocated as retribution for organizing but this (at least as far as i know) hasn't been widely corroborated or picked up. i can't find the original story i read last week.
