Our roads are not fine. Have you seen the pictures of 421? I don't know how much of it they've repaired, but I've seen pictures where it was in pieces.I'm hearing up to 6 inches of rain for central NC.
10/10/2018 8:38:18 AM
421 is still hosed. That's my normal route to work. I rode my bicycle down there Sunday to check it out. They were working on it Saturday, but not Sunday. Still gonna be a few weeks before they have a temporary setup to get 2 lanes open. On the bright side, there's no traffic, so it makes a great spot for biking. NC 210 is even worse. A few hundred yards of road and bridge are completely gone.[Edited on October 10, 2018 at 8:47 AM. Reason : Db]

Latest I saw was that the line was going right over Raleigh.210? Crap, that is our main route to Topsail. Probably everyone's main route.
10/10/2018 11:32:52 AM
Is it because Carolina Hurricane Hocky is almost the unique professional sports team in Raleigh? So hurricanes are coming to visit Raleigh each time?

We haven't had a full week of school since like the 1st week of school. So one thing that this experience has taught me is I will never again tell someone that it's a "blessing in disguise" at least until they are finally on the other end of their troubles. Yes, logically I know that eventually, we will be back to normal, we will have a place to live and we will have our routine backs. But while we are in it, it's like a punch in the throat every time someone says "this is a blessing in disguise!" No, this fucking sucks. I see no blessing right now. I see shitty mcshitterson sucking a big one. A year from now I might look at it differently, but right now I am so emotionally fragile that even small inconveniences have turned into huge mountains of problems. So I will never again tell someone that it's a blessing in disguise. Because this shit is not a blessing.
10/11/2018 2:15:20 PM
this wind is nuts
10/11/2018 5:55:22 PM
^^ I think you're legally allowed to punch anyone in the throat who says that.Who fucking says that? "Sorry your life got all fucked up. It's a actually a good thing! You're feelings of misery are wrong!" Assholes.
10/11/2018 6:10:21 PM
Definitely far more wind for n Raleigh than Florence.

I fail to see how any of this is a blessing in disguise.A blessing in disguise is when you get laid off, only to find a better job. Or when you get dumped only to find the person of your dreams. Or when you get sick and diagnoses reveals something bigger going on.Getting flooded the f out of your hometown does not seem like a blessing in disguise.

Lost power for a little over an hour. Back now. Yay.
10/11/2018 7:34:33 PM
Shit was just rainy in Chapel Hill all afternoon Left work around 4:15 and go to Carrboro and realized I left something I needed so I turned around and went back. In the 5 minutes that I went back and then got in my truck the bottom dumped out and the winds started howling. As I was driving home again trees were coming down and power lines were sparking and shit. That was crazy. Got home and shortly after the power went out. 9 pm and still no lights. Living just outside of town it is dark as shit here now. First power outage in the new place but at least we have screens and new windows so we can open them and get some semblance of air in here.[Edited on October 11, 2018 at 9:02 PM. Reason : ]

Your roads are fine.
10/12/2018 1:57:22 AM
The winds on the back end were intense and there was definitely some interesting meteorology that was involved in causing that as Michael interacted with a frontal boundary.

Still no power this morning in southern Orange county just west of Carrboro. Last big outage in the Piedmont Electric service area. I can drive in any direction and within a mile or so the power is back on. Thankfully my buddy let us borrow his generator so we've had all the lights and the fridge running since Friday morning.
10/14/2018 6:44:40 AM
Hope the food in the fridge is still fine.

One thing that I think will help a lot of people feel like things are somewhat back to normal will be when all of the debris is collected from the sides of the roads. It's awful driving past people's entire contents of their house sitting on the side of the road. My husband and I are using this opportunity to try to buy a house, which is turning into another headache all on its own. I am ready to have our own space again. Our poor pup is so wired because she just doesn't have the opportunity to get out all the energy she needs to get out. Also, since (as of today) we have only been married for 3 months, it's really not awesome spending your first few months as newlyweds living with your parents. The bed is very noisy, and it makes things very awkward, so we aren't "practicing for a baby" quite as frequently as we would like.
