True...but Julius, Jordan, etc. I didn't all of them...I just said some former players. But yeah you're right.....they know more than we do. The fans definitely keep the hatred for the Holes forever.

Anyone thats played pickup basketball knows how heated it can get. Hell, i almost got into numerous altercations in my 4 years at State playing pickup in Carmichael.

The bigger question to me is what in the hell PJ was doing playing with a bunch of high school kids at a Durham YMCA, with such intensity to get in a fight, when hes 4 days away from playing NBA Summer League ball. I understand getting into an altercation in pickup ball just fine. The fact that he put himself in that situation, with his history, just screams stupidity.

Is he really worth 6M/year though?

That's the one spot we actually have a little depth. Best of luck to him Miami though. He was fun to watch.

Does Jordan even watch basketball that isn't UNC or Duke? We already know he doesn't watch the Hornets. I get the feeling we're signing Hayward because Butler played Duke in the Championship. Tyler Zeller must've talked him into watching Indiana, too.

^^^ you're making it sound like this is a bad thing. hayward makes this team instantly better, and williams will play a nice complementary role to big al while vonleh develops. who knows if PJ will ever get his shit straight, so a wing scorer is essential.

of course, now he'll probably wind up staying in utah

I guess the Hairston stuff should go in here now instead of the UNC thread?

A story from yesterday that has some details that I hadn't read yet:

^Yep.

We have to offer him max or no way Utah doesn't match. Utah is definitely going to match regardless, but at least we offered max to give ourselves a chance at landing him.

Why not importing Jeremy Lin? As he's likely to get fired by Houston.

This is Hayward's first non-rookie contract. His max offer amount isn't the same as what somebody like Lebron or Melo or another player who is already on their 2nd contract could get. Fyi.

Um it means they have the cap room to match what the hornets offered.

He is a restricted free agent. Which means Utah has the right to match any offer he receives.

Alright back on topic

The Jazz are almost guaranteed to match according to Woj, so do we look to Lance next? He has to know that we can offer more than pretty much everyone else so I hope he waits until Monday to see what happens there.

He'd be a good fit if they could just reel in some of that immaturity.

Can't really make any official moves with that offer sheet money locked up, though I guess you can always talk to FAs. That's the risk you take with RFAs.

Houston is also chasing Luol Deng

The Houston Rockets are stuck in neutral like almost everyone else waiting for clarity from free agents LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony.

But after offering free agent forward Chris Bosh a maximum-level contract, Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is exploring a number of scenarios in case Bosh declines and perhaps re-signs with the Miami Heat. Morey reached out Wednesday to the representatives for free agent small forward Luol Deng about joining the Rockets, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the talks.

HEAT: Need Bosh, LeBron to be quick

BOSH: Biggest domino in free agency?

Deng has attracted interest from the Atlanta Hawks, the Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers and others but is waiting for Anthony to decide his fate first. He could be a possible replacement for Rockets small forward Chandler Parsons if Houston decides not to match an offer on the restricted free agent.

The Dallas Mavericks are very interested in Parsons, and rival executives expect them to eventually put forth a major offer sheet for Parsons. Utah Jazz restricted free agent Gordon Hayward just landed a four-year, $63 million maximum contract offer from the Charlotte Hornets, which helps set this inflated market for Parsons, a similar player. So it's not surprising that the Rockets are at least considering other options.

USATODAY
Teams making final pitches to LeBron James
A second person said the offer to Bosh was not given with a defined deadline. The person with knowledge of the negotiations spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because the talks were supposed to remain confidential.

Houston would be ecstatic to have him join Dwight Howard, James Harden and the rest of the Rockets' lot that went 54-28 and lost to the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the playoffs. Houston plans on trading point guard Jeremy Lin in order to make room for a player like Bosh on its payroll but won't execute a trade until it receives a commitment from Bosh.

Although only Bosh knows which way he's leaning, the Wednesday meeting between James, Heat President Pat Riley and James' agent, Rich Paul, will surely play a part in what happens next. The group is expected to meet at 3 p.m. PT in the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas, a person with knowledge of James' situation confirmed."
