Umm, don't forget Mr sheets who has yet to give up a run. And we still have Teheran in the minors as a backup. I think we all know we weren't going to do shit with the rotation as it was. Sucks we lost delgado, but grienke would have cost a lot more and we have beachy and viscaino coming back next year. I like the trade, can't hurt having the league era leader on your team

mike minor leagues at it again.

and i hate watching games on TV from Miami's new park. The dim lighting always makes it look like half the stadium lights are burned out.

That was an freaking horrible call on the Heyward dp. Instant replay cannot get here fast enough. Atleast Minor looked decent tonight after a shaky first couple innings.

LOL Dempster is a drama queen. Wish the Braves could have got Greinke since they gave up Delgado, but whatever. Frank Wren is pretty much the worst GM in history at making trades so I am sure Delgado will turn in to Pedro now. Dempster needs to accept this trade so he can make his next scheduled start for the Braves.

So Dempster wants to go to the Dodgers and now is planning on starting tonight for the Cubs? Fuck this guy. Dude is a head case and not what the Braves need. Go after Greinke who is a head case in his own right, but has at least said he'd like to pitch in Atlanta.

Just get Grienke already and sign him for five years. No one comes to games in Atlanta, Zack. You've got nothing to worry about.

Francisco 5 Constanza 7 Janish 6 Hanson 1

This might be the worst four consecutive batters ever assembled in a major league lineup

^ I see your Francisco, Costanza, Janish, and Hanson and raise you the entire Astros lineup minus Jose Altuve.

Greinke just makes a lot more sense for the Braves this season and long term. If they can get him, they'll probably have to choose between re-signing Greinke or Bourne, but Grienke would be a great fit to anchor the rotation with Hanson in the the next 4-5 years.

He's 28 now and does not really have that many innings on his arm. No reason he cannot be an solid #2 type guy for the next 4 years. He's making $13.5 MM this season and I'm sure he'll want money near the $18 MM range so that may be what is keeping the Braves from pursuing him as hard seeing that they'd have to give up more than Delgado to get him.

is there any way to listen to afternoon games via online streaming?

are day games broadcast locally on the radio in Atlanta over their regular afternoon sports talk programming?

It's very very worth it. For just the app and radio feeds (not TV, but you do get almost instant video highlights) its like a one time fee for the app, something like $8-12, but you get radio feeds to every game of every team, stat tracker, video highlights, etc. definitely worth it.

Yeah Chipper probably should quit Twitter if that is representative of what he's going to be tweeting.

Hanson was awful yesterday, but worked out of jams and the bullpen did their job. Phillies are up next.

Miguel Batista released by the Mets... signed by the Braves.

he's 53 years old. Satchel Paige gets up and lets him have a seat on the subway.

taking Medlen's relief role and move Medlin up to starting?

Great weekend for the Braves. Sheets has been a God send. From the AJC this morning highlighting Uggla's slump. Holy crap some of these stats make Belliard look like a good hitter:

Quote :
"
The Braves second baseman had a two-homer, five-RBI game on June 5 at Miami, and since then it’s been he’s been the worst hitter in baseball.

Uggla has hit .110 (15-for-136) with two doubles, two homers, nine RBIs and 55 strikeouts in 42 games since then, and he’s gone hitless in 10 of his past 11 games, with at least three at-bats in each of those 10 0-for’s. He’s 0-for-21 with nine strikeouts in his past seven games.

The home fans are getting restless – actually they’ve been that way for a while about Uggla – and it’s probably because they have seen Uggla at his worst. Uggla’s .209 overall average this season includes .181 (and a .297 slugging percentage) in 48 games at Turner Field, where he’s hit four homers and struck out 60 times in 155 at-bats. It gets worse.

In his past 20 home games, Uggla has hit .063 (4-for-64) with one double, two RBIs, 12 walks, 30 strikeouts – yes, 30 strikeouts in 64 at-bats – and a .319 OPS (.078 slugging percentage).
"

A .078 slugging percentage. How is that even possible for a MLB regular? Pitchers hit better than that.
