every article ive read says that Goodell and some of the other owners cringed at half of what JR was doing
2/14/2011 10:10:22 PM
This shit is big business.Big Cat just gotta keep these fucking workers in line, lest they think they are somebody.

does Richardson's stance harm the ability of Carolina to sign decent talent? I mean, he's got every right to be a hardass, but does it make Carolina look unattractive? Not that it matters if he's hellbent on decimating his roster like last year.

It sounds more like he was joking sarcastically to me.
2/15/2011 3:18:57 PM
who knows if he even said it
2/15/2011 3:21:28 PM
i have no problem with what richardson said.
2/15/2011 8:39:17 PM
god forbid that some of these fucking babies that get paid big money get upset over labor talksplayers and owners aren't the only ones whose employment is directly tied to the NFL. Sure, this is pertaining directly to revenue sharing between the two sides, but more money for the owners will directly impact numerous other people (and yes, I realize the players and the union aren't the only ones impacted by the amount of revenue the players get) He probably could have been nicer but Big Cat does have a lot of responsibility. Plus, I bet Drew Brees is really a colossal dick.
2/15/2011 8:43:48 PM
He has a good point though, what does Peyton Manning know about player safety? Any time someone gets near him he just sits down on the ground instead of taking a hit. The players are just complaining because they don't make as much as baseball players or soccer players in Europe and they are jealous.
2/16/2011 6:20:11 AM
It's not what he said, it's how he said it. You can disagree without being a dick about it.

^^i disagree with a good bit of that3 NFC title games and a SB appearance in 16 years sounds pretty successful to meoffering to make Julius Peppers the highest paid defensive player in NFL history sounds like he's willing to pay for big talentand despite some soundclip a former kicker who wasn't even in the room at the time supposedly heard about, the owners all still have his back...this has been blown way out of proportion imo]
2/16/2011 1:36:50 PM
^^^ You want to run the owner out of town? Right, because that worked so well last time, when the city ran Shit and Woolbitch out of town and ended up with a team run by the most niggardly owner in professional sports.
2/16/2011 1:45:27 PM
^ come on nowThat racist insult is uncalled for. Edit that while you still have time.
2/16/2011 1:49:21 PM
while I don't like the word (at all), it isn't a racist termif used correctly, of course
2/16/2011 1:52:13 PM
I heard from someone today that jay feely leaked these insults to the media even though he wasn't in this meeting and that what was actually said is either being misrepresented or blown out of proportion. of course if this is true I would expect it to be old news by now, and if it isn't true well I guess that's what I get for believing what someone tells me.
2/16/2011 2:06:27 PM
Niggardly is a great word. I like to use it in business emails for the shock factor.

^^ I was alluding to the notoriously cheap Bob Johnson, who at one point tried to eliminate the Bobcats radio broadcasts in an effort to cut costs. He was a miserly fuck.
2/16/2011 5:11:44 PM
Panthers franchise Ryan Kalil.
2/22/2011 4:17:13 PM
Interesting. I'm worried we are going to lose DeAngelo and Charles Johnson now though.
2/22/2011 4:20:18 PM
Bullshit that the payscale for franchised O lineman factors OT's pay into the compensation for centersI would have rather tagged Johnson
2/22/2011 4:20:46 PM
I'd hate to see us lose Deangelo, hopefully we use the transition tag or sign him to a 2-3 year deal. I don't want us to lose such a talented player with nothing in return like Peppers. And despite Deangelo's age, I think he has plenty left in the tank. It's not like he was a feature back every year, he was either backing up Foster, or sharing carries with Stewart. He's not asked to handle a Michael Turner type workload.
2/22/2011 4:22:26 PM
I respect your admiration for Williams, but I'd rather have Stewart + Goodson + 12 million to work with than all three and a lot less money to plug our laundry list of holes on both sides of the ball.
2/22/2011 4:24:32 PM
well said SF
2/22/2011 4:25:40 PM
If we lose Williams, I would just like to get a player and/or draft picks in return, since we didn't get that for Peppers]
2/22/2011 4:26:15 PM
the time for that was last offseason
2/22/2011 4:27:10 PM
^^ he's already an UFA, so the panthers have zero leverage to do anything with him except re-sign him
2/22/2011 4:38:53 PM
Lets trade someone we don't have under contractBrilliant thinking
2/22/2011 4:45:00 PM
If there's a lockout will they still have the 2011 draft?
2/22/2011 4:51:50 PM
^yes
2/22/2011 4:57:19 PM
Hearing rumors that steve smith could be going to the pats for a 2nd round pick
2/22/2011 7:53:15 PM
So we get the pick back we traded to them to move up and grab Armanti in exchange for Steve Smith. If I was Hurney I would be ashamed to show my face in public.
2/22/2011 8:02:54 PM
Steve Smith for Super Bowl 47 MVP(i think its 47 next year)
2/22/2011 8:04:19 PM
the 33rd pick would be good value for smitty (it sucks that it was our pick in the first place stupid hearney .. would hate to see him go, but it would def free us up to truly rebuild.. as well as trade or draft AJ Green to replace himSmitty is aging and is going to be wasted until we find a qb.[Edited on February 22, 2011 at 8:12 PM. i was thinking 38 (Panthers/Patriots) was in 2003 but I must have been a year off
2/22/2011 8:18:03 PM
the season for 38 was 2003, but the game was actually in 04
2/22/2011 10:34:13 PM
those years blur together, because it was the modern pinnacle of sports greatness for me as a NCSU football/NCSU bball/Panthers fan]
2/22/2011 10:35:51 PM
We'll re-sign Charles Johnson(def didn't deserve top 5 DE money) and DeA will walk.Would have been nice to get something out of DeA trade-wise, but I'm fine with our platoon of RBs. But someone mentioned us saving 12 million, which is great on paper, but until we get an owner willing to spend money, that's a non-issue. We were the worst team in the NFL last year with the youngest team and MOST cap space, and with Richardson's current attitude, I just don't see his spending changing much.
2/23/2011 8:09:41 AM
i REALLY doubt that richardson will continue his miserly ways once the new CBA is signed. i'm sure he's smart enough to figure out that panthers fans are good fans, but a continually shitty product will lead to an empty stadium. charlotte doesn't have the population density of die hards who will go to games regardless of how bad the team is. look for him to make some big signings once things get hammered out in mediation
