I'm talking about the situation where we took a 3 ptr, it rattled around and the Syracuse player tipped it towards the basket and it looked like it was about to roll in when Leslie tapped it and got called for goaltending.I seriously don't know what the ruling would be there. Its not often the opposing team knocks the ball into the wrong basket.
12/4/2010 8:35:32 PM
if the ball comes out of the cylinder and gets tipped back in, it's 2 points.regardless of where the ball was shot from. do you think it'd be worth 1 if it were on a free throw?[Edited on December 4, 2010 at 8:36 PM. Reason : k]
12/4/2010 8:36:01 PM
Unless you tipped it in from the 3pt line
12/4/2010 8:37:22 PM
now if the defender ran from downcourt and took off from behind the 3 point line, and then tipped in our 2-pointer, that would be 3 pointsi think
12/4/2010 8:37:47 PM
Depends on what the rules are. I could see logically where it would just be 1 pt on a free throw. I ask because it rarely comes up and I don't know the rules in that situation. No need to be a douchebag.[Edited on December 4, 2010 at 8:38 PM. Reason : troll bait]
12/4/2010 8:37:58 PM
^^ that should be. damn.^ wasn't trying to be a douche, but i guess that came across as kind of douchey.
12/4/2010 8:41:33 PM
Yeah I honestly thought he was trolling. Sorry if you weren't I guess I can see how that rule could be confusing but you have to think of a tip as being a rebound and a shot because that is basically what it is.
12/4/2010 8:44:54 PM
i want to kill myself.i laid down at 4 for a quick nap and i just woke up somebody please give me a recap in a few sentences so I don't have to read through the whole thread
12/4/2010 8:47:14 PM
I think it gets ruled as a tip-in just like if an offensive player tips it in. Then I think the points going to the closest offensive player. However, if the tip-in was goaltending, then I think it would be three points to the shooter.
12/4/2010 8:50:13 PM
It's all good. I guess the misguided logic I was using was that the defensive player became a neutral object on that end of the floor (like the backboard).

Oh, and we out rebounded them. Most impressive to me was Leslie's attitude adjustment and energy in rebounding. I didn't see any of that "bad body language" he seemed to have in previous games.
12/4/2010 8:58:59 PM
thanks.just looked at the box score and game tracker. 19 turnovers and Javi only had one of them? that's nuts. and WTF is up with us only scoring 3 points in the last ~10 minutes of the game?
12/4/2010 8:59:45 PM
It was pretty weird neither team was scoring well at the end. Wood tried to put up a couple threes but he seemed pretty gassed also had a bad turnover towards the end.
12/4/2010 9:01:10 PM
The end of the game was uglu and that's a game I felt like we shouldve won, but we fought hard against a top 10 team and rebounded from the Wisconsin game very well. I can't wait to see what this team looks like when Tracy Smith is back in the post. CJ Leslie finally looked like he was getting his legs under him too.
12/4/2010 9:27:05 PM
its only pretty weird they werent shooting well. us shooting like shit is to be expected. Seems like Dana Bible was calling the shots Wood-3? no. Wood-3? no. Wood-3? no. Game over

A much better performance by the players and coaches. I admit, I was a little worried after the Wisconsin game, but I feel much better now. As our team continues to gel, the reshmen gain confidence, and of course, tracy comes back, i think the team will continue to improve going into ACC play. But after reading this and the Sid thread, all i can say is.... i think Packboozie might actually be a little retarded. I mean, wow. But its not his fault.
12/5/2010 10:00:33 AM
^ Dammit now you made me feel bad for calling him out.So I looked at the box score for yesterday and saw that Wood played 39 minutes. I am really hoping that once Smith is back it will shift things around so that Leslie can steal a couple minutes at the 3 and Wood will get some rest. I don't want him fading down the stretch because he is worn down.

you cannot even base the basketball team's support on the Fairleigh Dickson game... NC State was in a far more important game going on at the same exact time...and the Tennessee Tech game's attendance was pretty decent considering the opponent.

just watched the syracuse game.yes, it was annoying not being able to score at the end of the game to close it out, but we looked pretty good against a team that plays one of the best team defenses in the country.our turnovers were self-induced mostly but that's a lot due to youth and spastic-ness on the part of some. Carrier Dome is also a tough place to play. The freshmen are coming along nicely, and Painter and Vandy looked like different players, my favorite play was when Leslie blocked the dunk and got a foul. We haven't had that kind of defensive intensity for a long time. I hope that rubs off onto our big guys especially Vandy and Howell; Vandy can't have touch fouls and 3pt plays, he's gotta own the paint.

we're on our 3rd or 4th consecutive year of buying season tickets. looking fwd to the USC UPSTATE game this coming Saturday.

Please provide me with proof that season ticket sales are down this year from last year. Then I won't think you're silly for trying to defend boozie.

http://www.statefansnation.com/index.php/archives/2010/05/13/basketball-attendance-falls-but-pack-remain-in-top-25/24th in the country last year in attendance. Numbers are hard to find. We were 17, 16, 18, 24 in Sid's first 4 years but that is just in comparison to the NCAA. Pointless argument really it matters how many actually go and use them. Too many companies own the seats in the lower level on the sides and they stay empty. This is a huge problem that I don't see at Dean Dome, Rupp, etc.[Edited on December 6, 2010 at 10:07 PM. Attendance does not equal support/approval.LOTS of people wanted Herb gone, yet still came to games. LOTS of people wanted Chuck gone, yet still came. Our fans are too loyal. We would go doesn't matter if Les Robinson was coaching or Jimmy V.

Lowers were not an option last year I think I know. The article says more tickets had been sold up till then not total. And belittle and bash me all you want. I help pay Lowe's salary with WPC membership and tickets you don't.So I guess you could say I support him more than you do even though I still am not approving yet.[Edited on December 7, 2010 at 1:00 AM. Reason : how do you like those facts earl? ]
12/7/2010 12:58:34 AM
^actually, i'd just like to point out that the article says that as of Nov 12th of this season, there were more season tickets sold (9,423) than the # of total seasons tickets sold last year (9,216). That's what I make of that quote. And then you provide #s about how we've been in the top25 of the NCAA of ticket sales since Lowe has been here. I've lost sight of what you're trying to argue.

Season tickets went up by 200 in an almost 20,000 seat arena wow. Since this was supposed to be our big year, do you not think a ton of new people bought tickets?I don't know how else to explain this to you. Support is dropping whether you TWW nerds like it or not.
12/7/2010 11:52:57 AM
that sounds like a problem w/ the fanbase, not w/ sidney lowe.
12/7/2010 12:02:49 PM
I agree, that's part of my point. State fans are going to buy tickets and go to games no matter how bad we are.[Edited on December 7, 2010 at 12:05 PM. Reason : We don't show approval/dissaproval with our money as much]
