i really like syrio
5/22/2011 9:19:30 PM
I think the show's done a much better job of explaining Theon Grayjoy than the books ever did.
5/23/2011 12:32:19 AM

so what episode was last night and what episode is available on GO? I watched episode 6 last night online, was that the new episode or is there another episode available on GO? I'm surprised the internets do not have a newer episode if its available on GO.
5/23/2011 8:53:11 AM
Ep6 was last night and Ep7 is online via HBO GO.
5/23/2011 8:57:16 AM
HBO go did not work for me last night. Just sat there spinning indefinitely. We'll try it tonight.
5/23/2011 9:22:49 AM
Everyone was trying to use it last night....web app didn't work for me but the iPad app didBut I was too drunk so I only got 5 minutes in
5/23/2011 9:55:48 AM

Great episode last night.
5/23/2011 10:47:19 AM
I'm gonna hold off on watching the HBO go one. I don't want to wait two weeks for a new episode.
5/23/2011 11:54:55 AM
epic show.i planned on waiting until next week for the next show but failed at lunch today.
5/23/2011 2:59:56 PM
what did he realize when he was reading the books (the hand of the king)?
5/23/2011 4:08:11 PM
That the Prince what not the kings sons. looks to be the love child of the twinlovers
5/23/2011 4:10:50 PM
^Aye. Every Baratheon in the king's lineage had dark hair, including the illegitimate blacksmith's apprentice and the baby but obviously Joffrey's hair is blond.
5/23/2011 4:25:47 PM
Honestly, my favorite story line in this whole thing is the Caleesie. (sp?)That was so badass."He was no dragon. Fire cannot kill a dragon."Goosebumps.
5/23/2011 4:31:47 PM
^ yes.and the gold "crown" was bad ass.
5/23/2011 5:07:23 PM
I mean. Who didn't see that little prick was a result of the siblings fucking??
5/23/2011 5:51:46 PM
5/23/2011 5:58:43 PM
ep 7 was pretty badassi forget, are the faces in the trees a natural thing or carved there?
5/23/2011 7:43:42 PM
carved
5/23/2011 8:28:05 PM
this show really makes me want to wield a sword
5/23/2011 8:39:57 PM
swords like those are heavy as shit. they would be so hard to swing accurately. anyone who could wield one in combat these days would have my respect.spoiler? i guess don't read it if you haven't seen the last episode...why did the former queen say the one guy fought without honor or whatever? was it because he killed the guy and kicked him through the hole in the floor or did i miss something? seems to me it is not honorable to have a shield/helmet while the other guy has just his sword.aaaaaaand /spoiler
5/23/2011 9:05:08 PM
Because Bronn was dodging and tiring him out instead of just meeting him in straight up combat.
5/23/2011 9:07:40 PM
He didn't fight like a knight. They discussed it a little in the book, by not putting on armor and running around, he wore out the other guy (wearing heavy armor).
5/23/2011 9:08:17 PM
ah...makes sense. in my world, that's some smart dueling. but i get it from the standpoint of knighthood and all that.
5/23/2011 9:10:35 PM
To be honest, real swords are not that heavy. It's always something that books/movies haven't portrayed very accurately in talking about how heavy swords are. If you actually read up on weaponry and such you'd be surprised at how light even large swords are/were. In doing a little bit of research on medieval swords in the past, I think I read that most swords averaged less than 3 lbs with even the largest 2 handers only weighing about 4lbs.[Edited on May 23, 2011 at 9:22 PM. 5/23/2011 9:15:39 PM
i'm led to believe that even a light sword starts feeling really heavy if you have to keep it extended and in your opponent's face for very long.
5/23/2011 9:23:45 PM
An 8 pound M16 doesn't sound too heavy till you've had to hold it at arms length for 20 minutes without resting.
5/23/2011 9:26:58 PM
oh sure you're going to tire, no doubt about that. Just stating that swords have been represented as weighing like 15lbs and stuff in writing before or people talking about how some swords was so heavy it could only be wielded by some big dude.[Edited on May 23, 2011 at 9:29 PM. Reason : ]
5/23/2011 9:28:31 PM
Yeah, but he was running around in armor and a shield along with that sword.
5/23/2011 10:18:53 PM
Oh definitely. I have no problem with the fight. Loved it in the books and in the show. Simply commenting on the often made erroneous assumption that their swords were heavy
5/23/2011 10:35:53 PM
5/23/2011 10:49:02 PM
^good to knowi just started watching this on Saturday and went through all the episodes on demand. i never read the books but i am enjoying the show so far. however, i generally prefer books to a series/movie of the same name.
5/23/2011 11:24:13 PM
I think you're going to enjoy episode 7 slightly more having never read the books.Even though I know what's coming, it's still....can't say much without spoiling.
5/23/2011 11:52:21 PM
in episode 6 im pissed they didnt have the direwolves fuck up that group that attacked bran, hbo needs to figure out something via green screen or something else to be able to use them more in the serious bc they are a pretty big part of the book i think
5/24/2011 12:50:10 AM
^ Seriously. The fact that they've practically ignored the direwolves is starting to irritate me. That and Rikon has gotten like 2 minutes of screen time. Those are minor issues though, and I totally love this show. The Viserys getting crowned scene was one of my favorites in the first book, and HBO did an awesome job bringing that to life
5/24/2011 7:48:33 AM
^ rickon only gets like 2 minutes of book time too, so that doesn't really bother me
5/24/2011 8:34:31 AM
yeah he doesn't really need to be in this season much. I guess in passing he could be shown in some scenes in Winterfell.
5/24/2011 8:36:07 AM
Yeah that's all I really want, just a little more acknowledgement. I feel like non-readers may not even realize he exists.
5/24/2011 8:42:09 AM
needs more hodor and wolves.
5/24/2011 9:28:41 AM
The wolves aren't a big deal. Seems like only the biggest make-it-like-the-book people care about them.
5/24/2011 9:43:30 AM
Because obviously the people that have read the books have no idea how important they're supposed to be to the story
