if you make the smooties yourself, you know exactly what is in them... so as long as you're not putting extra stuff in there, its fine.

but just fruit by itself has a ton of sugar (some not as bad as others), when its blended into a drink its easy to have a lot more servings than you should without noticing it too much. similar to dried fruit in that respect (even when no sugar is added)

let's not argue ITT

Let's just agree that exercise and nutrition are about the two most controversial subjects on the internet. I've never seen people argue with so much conviction as when they start to argue about nutrition or exercise strategies.

^^Seriously. If eating something works out for you (not you personally, Solinari), then go ahead and do it... if it doesn't, don't get offended because somebody likes fruit smoothies. Everyone is different, so what may work for one person might not work out for another....

some of you are reading some kind of malice into my post that isn't there. i'm not offended by anything nor do i have a particularly strong opinion either way, i was just posting a heads up. some people have no idea that an innocent 16oz smoothie could have >30g of sugar even without adding any.

Ugh, utterly worthless last couple of days thanks to late shifts at work. I'm getting up before noon tomorrow and doing some significant road work.

I would love to do something like this but I know I will not have the time to do it and not half-ass it. Maybe if I can find a decent bike or something I will start riding around the neighborhood and then get out and do more hiking and disc golf.

I just hate heat

Ive been posting in this thread and the other thread so i might as well get in on this too before the deadline.

This picture was taken today

my weight as of today is 187.8 lbs

my goals are pretty much to be bigger, faster, stronger, leaner, and tanner than i am now. the picture was taken coming off a 2 month bulk period.

June (at least) will be a cutting cycle.

each week i have 5 work out days. (2 days on 1 day off then repeat.) each day that i work out i have an AM cardio session and a PM weight training session.

my diet macros will be 50p/20c/30f at approx 2000 calories per day. supplements include whey powder, multivitamins, creatine, BCAAs, and a preworkout NO supplement

ultimately i want to get close to 10% bf at 185lbs. my short term strength goals include a 275 bench press (currently somewhere between 250 and 275) and a 400 deadlift (currently at 370)

I've taken some pictures, but they kinda suck. Need to find a place with better lighting and hopefully a better mirror than my crappy $10, 1' wide mirror on the door.

However, I don't want anyone to see me with a camera out in the communal head, taking pictures in front of the mirror. The best case is that they'll think I'm a freak show...worst case is that they'll think I'm compiling a collection of pictures of dudes getting out of the showers.

Late contest entry.
Age: 27
Ht: 5'7"
Wt: 122 lbs +/-

This is my first time taking myspace-esque photos so the quality isn't that good.

Goal:
Ht: 5'7"
Wt: 135 lbs

Staying on the go with my job keeps me from eating as healthy as I would like, but I'm trying to make good menu choices wherever I go.

^Ahaha me too... it doesn't matter though. If they work, if whoever drinks them loses weight or whatever goal they want to achieve, then it doesn't matter at all ahah.

I've been slacking off this weekend, gotta kick it in gear with a good cardio workout today and a few workouts tomorrow.

full workout week... well rest day today (did 39.6 miles on my bike yesterday)

tomorrow - fitness bootcamp in the am, 12 mile bike ride to softball game (hopefully)
wednesday - fitness bootcamp in the am, evening swim i hope
thursday - run
friday - fitness bootcamp in the am and then another bike or run, not sure which.

unfortunately i need to get my eating back on schedule and controlled. just going too far between meals and so then i'm super hungry when i sit down, eat too fast then feel sick to my stomach.

you'd think i'd learn

I have started the Zone Diet and I got the cookbook. I am fairly pleased so far with the choices that I have decided to create and the diet is not that far from how I already eat. STOKED

I only got to do half of my kickboxing class (because of time constraints) today and I supplemented it with some elliptical goodness before it. I still think that class kicked my ass.

here is my dilemma:
I have been having headaches after EVERY workout lately. I drink a shit ton of water before, during, and after my workout (I also only drink water with meals) and I also eat an hour before I workout. My glucose levels have been awesome so I am at a loss as to what is causing these debilitating headaches that come 2-3 hours after I have worked out. I get kind of freaked out about them because, being a type I diabetic, we often deal with constriction of blood vessels, hemorrhages, and heart problems. I just hope it is because I am working out again and not something more drastic. I have been kind of thinking it could be my sports bra. My jugs are kind of heavy/bigger and my sports bra gives me AMAZING support. I am thinking maybe my back muscles are just weak.

Any suggestions?

[Edited on May 31, 2010 at 9:59 PM. Reason : I've had a headache today since 2pm and I worked out around 9 this morning.]

I ate wicked shitty today, too... I didn't have my multi-grain bagel or Kashi multi-grain cereal (hence my complete lack of fiber). I'll probably add another 70g of protein to that by the end of the night, since I'm about to work out.

Yeah mister God dude knows the deal. That captains chair is ideal, imo, versus the hanging arm straps to do leg raises because the pad against the back prevents you from using momentum. If I stumbled across one of those on craigslist or something I would snag it in a heartbeat then sell it to you for a ridiculously overpriced amount.

^i like to not use the back padding to brace myself and let the my stabilizing muscles do the work

hanging > roman chair, however most people aren't strong enough or have the MMC for a hanging leg raises/pike

This is the kind of protein bar I like:

in 1oz you get:

80 calories, 15g protein, .5g fat, 3g sugar

cans of tuna are cheap, and they have the added benefit of pissing off all the coworkers that have to smell your can of tuna.

When I want quick protein, I usually shoot for a Zone Perfect, 14g, Met-Rx Colossal 100, 32g, or a Clif Builder's Bar, 20g. Or... you can eat a can of tuna (add some mustard and sweet relish) and get the same amount of protein with less fat, carbs, and calories.

I eat at least one can of tuna every day. It's one of the cheapest sources of healthy protein that you can find.

Add some lemon pepper, lemon juice or a little mayo and it's a tasty, filling snack or mini-meal.

Also going to post my one-week update from last Friday ... after an all-week booze bingefest, my stomach is pretty mushy. The calorie counting prob helped it from getting too horrible. And this pic was taken after drinking about half a bottle of champagne, which prob contributes to the bloat:

So now that the bday and cruise are behind me, the real diet officially begins for me. Seriously limiting the booze now. Look out, punks.
