Hmmm I like how min specs say 2.6 ghz P4 or equivalent AMD and I have a 3800+ amd and it says I dont meet the minimum.. we will see how this goes I may be building a new PC soon haha
7/27/2010 5:15:20 PM
I have to take this game in small doses or else I can easily see myself spending 10+ hours just sitting here! Haha. Love it!
7/27/2010 5:48:50 PM
im about to find out real quick if Im gonna need to start shopping for a new setup haha
7/27/2010 5:49:25 PM
Have we had the news report yet, where some Korean dies because they played the game nonstop for 48 hours?
7/27/2010 5:56:07 PM
Haha. Good luck! I know that RTS aren't known for their eye-popping graphics, but why gimp yourself? (Yes, I know the thing about lower quality machines and the choppiness making it easier to micro) All I have to say is...HE DOES NOT LIKE YOU!!!
7/27/2010 5:58:00 PM
I'm 5 or 6 missions in and am really enjoying it so far. I'm going to get destroyed when I play multiplayer.
7/28/2010 12:34:05 AM
^^^^ Those minimum specs can be bent a little. I'm running on "Low" graphics settings across the board with a intel dual core 1.66 GHz, 2 gb ddr2 ram, and a ATI X1300 graphics card (128MB) on my laptop. In beta, multiplayer was fine. You might can get away w/ integrated graphics if it's a new machine. My buddy plays on a 2-yr old dell laptop w/ integrated graphics and it works fine (on low).Don't set custom graphics settings. Doing so will put a much bigger strain on your card.I did notice today while playing one of the "holdout" levels (not going to spoiler it for everyone else), my machine could barely keep up. But, other than that, I love it![Edited on July 28, 2010 at 1:18 AM. Reason : "on low"]
7/28/2010 1:17:12 AM
I started the campaign tonight. Got through ~5 missions on "Hard" , earning 155 achievement points! More to follow tomorrow!
7/28/2010 1:20:02 AM
Well Ive been playing on ultra settings without a hitch so far... will wait till i get further in and have some huge wars to really see how it goes though
7/28/2010 1:31:40 AM
I don't get how the league placement works... I went 3-2 in the beta and got into gold league. Went 3-2 in this and got bronze. If 3-2 is bronze... 4-1 is silver? 5-0 is gold? What about platinum and diamond?
7/28/2010 2:31:04 AM
I think some of it may depend on your opponent, if one is really terrible for example then winning against them may not count for much.
7/28/2010 2:55:22 AM
I'm at the point where my knowledge strategy is ahead of my ability. I got 10 times better with my hands today, yet I'm still terrible IMO.However in Nexus Wars I'm so pro.
7/28/2010 5:07:18 AM
The intro video was epic.Actually disappointed with the graphics of Raynors drinking glass I got my wife a copy as well. A his and hers if you will. Gonna try to team up in 2v2.....but she has no idea what she is doing.
7/28/2010 7:21:59 AM
game is awesome.Just did the train mission last night. All these missions are fun and with these achievements, I see the replay value there. Especially as you upgrade, etc. you'll want to go back and do some of these.
7/28/2010 8:08:29 AM
Yeah looks as if I'll be redoing some of these missions to pickup those extra achievements for fun
7/28/2010 8:33:29 AM
I played through the first few missions last night on Hard. I really liked the Armory, and the thought of being able to upgrade your buildings/units to fit your game play style. We'll see how it plays out as I progress through the campaign, as I might get annoyed with it.
7/28/2010 8:34:07 AM
Anyone done the challenge missions?I have completed the first 6. 4 bronze, a silver, and a gold. Havent tried the final 3 yet. They aren't hard per-se, but they can be challenging.
7/28/2010 8:34:50 AM
^ the first one is where you have to protect your Supply Depots using the correct unit to counter a certain zerg unit(s), correct?I couldn't remember what they were called, but I thought that was a pretty neat idea. And should help me in the campaign/multiplayer.
7/28/2010 8:39:07 AM
yeah each set of 3 have a challenge for terran, toss, and zerg. First three you have to protect 3 buildings against 3 incoming forcesSecond three you have to survive or do as much damage as possible with limited forces depending on the race.quite fun. Getting gold in a few is quite challenging. Also, this is where the fucking bullshit comes in.Battle.net is down. I can't play single player. That is horseshit.[Edited on July 28, 2010 at 8:44 AM. Reason : *]
7/28/2010 8:43:01 AM
^I'm at work right now, so I can't try it for myself, but if B.net is down, you can't play single player? That's a little disappointing, to say the least.
7/28/2010 8:55:40 AM
Its back up but yes, its kind of lame. DRM ftl
7/28/2010 9:18:31 AM
Have you always been able to press SHIFT + [number] to assign single units to groups that correspond with that number? I don't remember that being an option in the previous starcraft. It's definitely a time saver as I dedicate certain groups to tasks.
7/28/2010 9:41:44 AM
Oh yes indeed. I lived off of that function in SC1
7/28/2010 9:55:19 AM
7/28/2010 10:01:43 AM
So I played the first few campaign missions last night on Normal, and it seemed pretty easy. Those of you that are little further in, does it get considerably harder or should I go ahead and switch to Hard for the rest of the campaign?
7/28/2010 10:06:24 AM
^^ good call, still lame they cant just store the achievements and validate once you connect. You can chose the difficulty of each mission as you do them. there are achievements based on difficulty so don't be too concerned with the difficulty you choose to start with.
7/28/2010 10:09:58 AM
Im playing through on normal, just to enjoy the experience. Ill come back and play on the other difficulties once I've gone through and enjoyed the story line and played around a bit.
7/28/2010 10:19:19 AM
^ doing the same. Enjoying the story and the armory/research trees.
7/28/2010 10:25:51 AM
7/28/2010 10:30:57 AM
7/28/2010 11:08:47 AM
Figured out that first protoss one. Lost 3 units total (1 per round) and got gold on it.
7/28/2010 11:14:01 AM
only gold i have is the terran 'kill as much shit with these nukes as possible' one.
7/28/2010 12:08:04 PM
so glad i dont have to play 15 bucks a month.also that i dont have to keep playing just to keep up with everyone else.love the notion that i get better or worse depending entirely on me, not my gear or how much time i've spent playing.azeroth, im looking at you
7/28/2010 12:22:37 PM
7/28/2010 12:26:46 PM
So glad I don't have to pay money for a professional trainer from another country. And that I also don't have to stretch and keep making up new routines just to keep up with everyone else.love the notion that i get better or worse depending entirely on me, not my previous awards or previous competitions.Gymnastics floor routine, I'm looking at you.-------I, too, can be completely idiotic and compare apples to oranges.
7/28/2010 12:30:13 PM
you sound like a really cool person
7/28/2010 12:36:26 PM
I love WoW, play it almost every day, but I'm with Jader on this one.I see what you are saying about it being a different type of game, but it is nice and refreshing to have a game that is completely awesome without some of the gotchas of WoW.
7/28/2010 12:50:29 PM
7/28/2010 12:59:41 PM
Oh ha, night-elf dance hologram in the cantina. One thing that surprised me was how closely the music resembles the old SC1 Terran BGM.
7/28/2010 2:50:49 PM
Gah I love this game. I wish husky would put up a video already. I can totally imagine him just nerdgasm the entire day yesterday.
7/28/2010 3:36:12 PM
i'm going to be pissed if this game sucks after i dropped $60 on it
7/28/2010 5:36:25 PM
installing now. You can play on multiple computers right because you have to put in your account info? Want to install it on my laptop too.
7/28/2010 7:54:22 PM
Yes, but your single player saved games don't transfer even though you have to log in. I am not sure if the achievements do though since you have to be online for those to register.
7/28/2010 9:22:17 PM
7/28/2010 9:28:08 PM
I keep losing skirmishes to the computer on medium. I really suck at this game.
7/28/2010 9:28:09 PM
Gold on all challenges cept for the last 3 which I haven't tried; saw they take longer. My sleep schedule is so fucked now =(
7/28/2010 10:07:24 PM
people posted some great tips for beginners some pages back.one thing i learned is to def keep building workers.
7/28/2010 11:06:10 PM
Up and rolling, I just play multiplayer, never mess with any of the campaign stuff and never did in all the years I played SC1 either but might since a lot of people said it is pretty fun. I went 3-2 in placement and ended up in gold division Gorn Yankee. Not sure what that means, guess I'll just keep playing games. I hate 1v1 though, rather play 2v2. So far my micro etc has been fine, just indecisive with strategies and that cost me the 2 games.
7/28/2010 11:10:00 PM
Well, I've gotten through 13 missions on "Hard" thus far. Am I the only one who ended up heading more and more towards the zerg research opportunities? I got stuck on the terrazine harvesting mission, and after that I went more for the zerg research pieces. Now, I've maxed out the zerg research side, but only 10 protoss research pieces : /Finally beat the terrazine harvesting mission. Now, I've gotta get unstuck on the "Dead Man's Port" level. So, when I got stuck on those two levels, I started playing the protoss mini campaign...the last mission.....holy....crap. I'm definitely gonna have to get my skills up to beat that. Also, I checked my FPS for the first time: I'm getting about 1-12 fps in missions, usually 5-20fps on the mission briefing vids, and only like 1-5 fps on the cinematics with the audio usually lagging behind the video Time to upgrade I believe. I can only wonder what this game would look like on "Ultra" graphics @ >30fps.... [Edited on July 28, 2010 at 11:28 PM. Reason : ]

So let me get this straight, 1/3 (yes a THIRD) of Starcraft II cost $60? Blizzard must have a sucker making factory somewhere LOL.
