Well my baby girl officially turned one yesterday. I swear I don't know what my life would be like without her, and I can't even remember what I even cared about back before she was born. She is so perfect, and I am by far the luckiest guy in the world.

I am going flying to MIA with my 14 month old in my lap by myself. He is a Tasmanian devil. He is going on a cruise with my fam. My hubby is in Fl already.

He's not a baby, anymore. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

How we spent most of Saturday:

He took the smallest fall and somehow managed to get a tiny fracture on his tibia. They're estimating 4 weeks, hopefully less..... and very hopefully no later than xmas.

^^Poor kiddo.

This is how I spent my morning:

Silas took off running through the living room in socks while getting ready for school and the second he hit the kitchen floor... I'm not sure if he hit the table or the bench, but boy did he scream. My husband insisted that I take him to the pediatrician and then they sent us for Xrays. Just a black eye. A really awesome black eye that he'll be proud to show off at school tomorrow.

Ours is 5 months and I can count on one hand the number of nights I've had more than 6 hours of straight interrupted sleep. Two of those nights he was staying with my parents.

Sleep is our biggest challenge--last night he was up four times. I know some parents can boast their kid sleeping "through the night" (which is 6 hrs) as early as one month old or even 10-12 hours without waking for a feeding by 4 months. Part of me always thinks those parents are lying
We, so far, haven't been that lucky. But I know it's not anything we're doing wrong...it's just how he is. I've grown accustomed to surviving on 2 sets of 4 hr stretches by this point.

A 5 1/2 months, we're just getting to where we can get a good stretch of sleep on some nights. If we can convince Amelia to take a full 6 ounces around midnight, we can away with 5 solid hours of sleep. It happens a couple of times a week, but usually she's eating 4 ounces every 3 hours like clock work.

My babies snuggled on the couch a week or so ago.

elkaybie- I had to go away for work for a week when my son was 5 months old. When I got home, he came home from my moms sleeping through the night. It was magic.....

Before then, it was 2x a night. I did do the routine thing even though I knew he was going to wake up.
Bath, book, bottle, and bed. My mom gave him a double bottle/cereal about 1.5 hours before the routine. I put him to bed at exactly the same time every night. Since then it was about 8 hours every night. When he turned 9 months and was running all the time he dropped his afternoon nap and sleeps 12 hours every night. He only wakes up if he is sick or if we are in a strange place (we just came back from vacation and it took 2 nights to put him back on schedule.)

There was a baby at work born a week later and this guy would come in every day saying how his kid slept through the night. I am on like 4 hours of sleep and all I wanted to do was punch him. So I know how it feels. Good luck.

almost 16 months later, we're getting to the point where our guy doesn't wake up 2-3 times a night

yeah, Amelia is not a slingshot, Silas.

Maya does something similar to that to Orion when she is in the Rock and Play. And Orion laughs so much.

I keep Silas away from her unless I'm able to supervise because he plays with her like a toy. So far we haven't had any problems, but he's really toeing the line with the bouncy seat.

Kids are so strange about what they like and don't like. I expected Amelia to cry and scream the first time he did that, but she laughed and kicked for more instead.

I predict that they're going to be quite the troublesome pair when she gets on her feet.

Let's hope she is able to get on her feet and her poor little 6 month old brain isnt damaged from jossling around inside her skull.

I'm more concerned that he's going to scare her or dump her out of the chair than him rattling her brain.

The PT has seen them like this together and isn't alarmed by it. As long as he isn't jerking her and she isn't protesting, it's not causing her any harm. It looks bad, but the mechanics of "shaken baby" just don't work that way.
