It's been sometime since i've used the uVerse web interface for the DVR. Damn that shit is soooo much better now then it was before. on another note...the new iPhone app update broke the app and i can't access the DVR recordings from my iPhone anymore.
11/3/2009 12:10:19 PM

11/3/2009 12:21:58 PM

I wasn't aware there was anything above U400?
11/3/2009 6:12:32 PM
WTF UVERSE!?!? I setup my DVR at work today via the web to record V and Real Madrid at AC Milan. Plus I deleted a bunch of old shit.Well I just got home and turn on my DVR and all the new stuff isn't there and all the shit i deleted is?? What the hell
11/3/2009 11:53:02 PM
my install is next week
11/7/2009 9:40:55 PM
ok, my fucking next door neighbor is eligible for U-Verse, but it says I am not. our houses are literally 15 feet apart.
11/8/2009 11:22:41 AM
could this be a mistake, or am I really SOL?
11/8/2009 9:25:57 PM
How does one go about convincing the phone company to install to one's neighborhood?
11/8/2009 9:28:54 PM
^^call and tell them that and ask for a tech to come out and see if service can extending to your house^either wait for them to do so or give them lots of money to hurry up the process[Edited on November 8, 2009 at 9:31 PM. Reason : .]

i don't see what the problem is... i'm guessing it's just a fluke with my address... our house is the first one on this side of the street. when we signed up for TWC, they had it in their computers that the house was not rigged up for cable. (which turned out to be either false or correctable.

Never could get in the TW box on the side of the complex (TW said that the complex should have a key, the complex said that TW was the only people with a key) so I picked up some cat5e and ran it under the molding/carpet to two rooms (also gives me a wired connection to the ps3 ) I am extremely happy with the service. It is nice to be able to sit at work and schedule recordings. Also helps when I am out and remember I forgot to schedule something and can schedule recordings with my iphone. most of all I am loving the 12mb/1.5mb

I checked the site and im finally eligable (yay! of course I didn't get an email tho)...got a few questions for whoever1) Whats the deal with the two HD streams? How many HD streams can I record/watch at once?2) Whats the best promotion to sign up under? I know they used to have some Gift Card thing but I can't find it on their website. Is their any variance with their monthly rates? I know a few years back with TWC if you signed up with one of those door to door guys the deal was much better...3) What happens after 6 months, pricing wise? I go back to paying more than I was with AT&T? Or is it the same old game of threating to leave and seeing what they do?4) Is the DVR of sufficent size to serve as the single DVR for an entire house? Is it at least bigger than TWC's 8300 boxes?5) I've read through most of this thread, but can someone break down anything thats currently worse with U-Verse vs TWC? Anything you miss about TWC, service or equipment wise? Thanks for any info peoples.

how far down Kaplan has this moved? I am down at Lorimer Rd and it still shows as unavailable on the AT&T website.
11/9/2009 3:22:04 PM
they are putting in a box now on garland

1) Whats the deal with the two HD streams? How many HD streams can I record/watch at once?thumper got this2) Whats the best promotion to sign up under? I know they used to have some Gift Card thing but I can't find it on their website. Is their any variance with their monthly rates? I know a few years back with TWC if you signed up with one of those door to door guys the deal was much better...they change all of the time... I haven't look recently, so I'll abstain3) What happens after 6 months, pricing wise? I go back to paying more than I was with AT&T? Or is it the same old game of threating to leave and seeing what they do?nothing happens, unless you take a 6 month promotion at sign-up, in which case, you can most likely argue your way back down. the one promotion we're on is 1 year of free HD, which I'm confident I can argue to keep it free after one year. other than that, their standard pricing (as shown on the website) stays - no random increases4) Is the DVR of sufficent size to serve as the single DVR for an entire house? Is it at least bigger than TWC's 8300 boxes?we've got hundreds of shows recorded, mostly HD... not sure on capacity, but far much more storage than TWC5) I've read through most of this thread, but can someone break down anything thats currently worse with U-Verse vs TWC? Anything you miss about TWC, service or equipment wise?clock on the STB... that's all I got. [Edited on November 9, 2009 at 3:46 PM. Reason : .]
11/9/2009 3:45:28 PM
^aha that's the only complaint i've got too! there's no clock at the front of the room anymore we had to put a clock up in the living room.
11/9/2009 3:58:26 PM
^^ I have 103 shows recorded, 98 of them are 1 hour, 1 is 2 hours, the others are 30 minutes. All are hd. I'm pretty sure that my box is at max capacity from that point. It's far more than TWc.I miss the clock as ^ said, and I also wish I could split the line to get service to more tv's like you can with cable. Having to get (pay for) a box for each tv sucks.
11/9/2009 5:57:39 PM
how close does a box have to be to your house in order to qualify you?
11/9/2009 6:07:18 PM
if i remember right, it's around 3k ft to the vrad^^it's finicky as shit, a splitter anywhere in the line is subject to fuck up the whole house
11/9/2009 7:06:23 PM
do they have to run special cable right up to your door or does it just operate on the normal phone line until it gets to the box?
11/9/2009 7:27:44 PM
i believe it has to be twisted pair from the vrad to the demarcation point. inside the house, they can reuse your old wiring (coax or twisted pair) depending on what shape it's in[Edited on November 9, 2009 at 7:46 PM. Reason : on second thought]

I just want them to get this shit up near the corner of Kaplan/Lorimer. I'm tired of getting the stupid "not available in your area" message on att.com. It's depressing me.
11/9/2009 11:52:23 PM
^^Yea, I just went back and looked through the shows that I have on there right now and I think about 40-50 of them are SD (I'm just taping them off of the hd channel, and haven't watched any of them in a month or two which is why I got confused)
11/10/2009 8:08:05 PM
They are coming today.I will try to get some pics of all of the hardware.....I have been trying to look online to find out exactly how it is wired, best I can tell they only use CAT5 if you do not have coax that is in good condition and would suffice. I also got the $200 cash back offer.....I think this is basically a "buyout" of my DirecTV contract. I thought I had signed up for 18 months, DTV is saying its 24 months. I cant find the paperwork of course since it has been 18 months but I will fight them on it if necessary. They are saying since I got HD service its a 24 instead of 18 month commitment which is a load of crap. They changed the price two months ago and its almost $100 now it used to be under $70. I called to get it put back and they guy gave me a $60 one time credit and said that's all he can do.

So while I am not in the area I found out that the determining factor in seeing if you can have service is the distance of your address from their station. right now it is set at 3,000 or less which in most metro areas is plenty. They are looking at upgrading some of the technology associated with u-verse and that it could reach around 5-6,000 feet in about 6 months.
11/15/2009 8:15:06 PM
wow i can't believe i haven't ordered this yet, i wonder what i'm waiting for. fyi i found out you can also get an extra $50-$100 back if you chat with somebody while ordering...and ask for it. sometimes they'll offer if they think you're on the fence.

^ i dont think most people in this thread have the same wants and desires as you. we want the best money can offer and to stick it to time warner at the same time, not suffer with 6 tv channels and illegally tethering our cell phones for data.

^ Let me put you down as a referral and I'll split whatever referral bonus I get with you (upon receipt). It should be $100+ to split if I'm reading this correctly; depending on how many services you choose.
