theres a spot in one of the goldrush levels where if you are on D and put a sentry on this ledge above the tunnel leading from the offense's base, itll decimate everyone unless its killed by an uber'ed person. (pretty much impossible to kill it unless you are ubered)

I haven't played this in months... don't think I even bothered unlocking all the Heavy stuff when it came out.Might try out the scout-pack though. Anyone know if shooting a person breaks the stun, or if stunning them hard enough basically amounts to an easy (easier) kill? ...Though even a <1-second stun from close range would set you up well for a simple two- or three-shot scattergun kill. they've been rather sparse on details, which has led some people to believe that these are fake updates and it's really going to be the spy pack instead valve has specifically said that they didn't want any stun/knockout weapons in their games before, but they may have just changed their mind I'm sort of on the fence, but I have my doubts about the 'spy update' theory at this point

To be fair, the weapons really aren't that great. The only ones with especially good medium/long-range accuracy are slow as fuck (rockets, medic gun, other slow-traveling projectiles). Sniper excluded, though even it could be argued to be "slow" in terms of charging it up during scope time, and ect... But there's balance. There is no "best" weapon (except for unlockables and some melee weapons, there's barely even any "better" weapons), unless you've got a playstyle that tends towards a certain one.However, that's part of the point. If any class in the game had a CoD4-style M16, the game would immediately become completely imbalanced. The kind-of-suckiness (compared to weapons in other shooters) is there to make you play as a team for objectives and not just whore the (non-existent) assault rifle class for the sake of easier kills. TF2 does not play like a standard shooter (beyond the basic "here is weapon: shoot weapon at enemy" aspect), nor is it supposed to.Summary: The weapons are all pretty mediocre compared to their counterparts in other games, which makes them all worth using at some point, depending on the situation. Regardless, if you're trying to play TF2 like a normal shooter, you're also pretty damn stupid. There is a reason it has no mid-long range assault rifle, just as there is a reason "Team Deathmatch" is not a game option.

rather than getting the new weapons when you have X number of class achievements the weapons are randomly "dropped"you could be playing as a soldier, kill a scout, and when you die you'll get the new sniper bow or, more likely (as evident from my time playing after the patch) you'll get a duplicate copy of a weapon you already have I'm find with the new system, but I don't want to have to keep deleting identical copies of weapons to keep my "backpack" from filling up

The new weapons aren't tied to achievements or not. They are randomly dropped to players in game. ALL of the weapons or dropped. For example, I just played for an hour and a half and it dropped me a backburner, which I earned through achievements a long time ago. In a full 24 man server, while I was there, only two new weapons got dropped.Lame as fuck.

I figured they were going to do something new and different once the backpack system appeared, but that's just retarded as implemented now. Especially if identical weapons won't stack.You can still spawn with weapons you have already unlocked, correct? Right. Nothing really changes on the old weapons. You can still use them, but now you might have duplicates in your "backpack".

Well... Hmm sounds interesting. I was so excited for TF2, having been waiting for the damn thing for like 10 years, and I really loved it. Once the achievements things started coming out though my interest rapidly dropped to the point where I haven't played the game in 6 months to a year. If I can get the weapons without having to toil through all the achievements that would definitely make me want to play more.
