this is healthy. i felt like the February correction didn't go deep enough.
4/19/2007 1:28:51 PM
yet the indices are back up already
4/19/2007 1:38:23 PM
yeah, i guess maybe the real "correction" will be incarnated as volatility.in addition to the indices and most actives, i also check up on the etf action as a proxy for which sectors are doing what:http://finance.yahoo.com/etf/browser/mkt

ok, i'm trading GOOG afterhours on margin...this is me being a gambler
4/19/2007 6:08:49 PM
^ your balls must hang down to your knees
4/19/2007 7:53:56 PM
this is the largest margin trade i've ever made.i got in at 484.60 after hours (and as soon as the trade went through i got a $40 margin call) , and premarket is 492 right now.i never do stuff like this...
4/20/2007 8:40:21 AM
I still can't justifiably get into the GOOG hype.Analysts expected $2.91 and they delivered $3.18. That’s beating expectations by 9%, about what they've been doing every quarter.Revenues met expectations. In terms of growth, a much more important factor, GOOG is slowing down. The law of big numbers has caught up with them.Taking Yahoo’s search $ isn’t going to keep them above 50% growth. They are great at releasing new services, but they need to try something radical like new services that generate revenue
4/20/2007 8:45:12 AM
i've been in and out of GOOG since the double digits. i held it for a while and did ok. i'm just squeezing a few more points out of it via a few trades. i'm certainly not going to sit on this.i also remember i made a thread about just before its IPO, and people ate my lunch about how $80 was too high a price.there's some "hype" stocks i have an aversion too as well. many people don't think so, but AAPL is one of them. i've had many a temptation to own it, but have stayed out of it. i might get in for the i-phone launch and bail before numbers hit the street.i think its partly because i don't even like ipods. i look at it and think, "hey that's cute, and it would be nice if i was a 13 year old girl but i'd rather have something with more than 3 buttons...someone please point me to the sony or panasonic mp3 player" and i'm probably never going to own and i-phone -- i'm too hooked on my crackberry and i don't want to carry 2 phones....back to GOOG: i go to yahoo and i see all this on the left column
4/20/2007 9:29:05 AM
its been a fun ride. its may be prudent to spend some time between now and Monday to take some gains (i'm not saying bail and run) and prepare for some down sessions. it may be a good idea to accumulate cash and do research so that we're well positioned for the second half of the year....just sold half of my LEAP[Edited on April 20, 2007 at 3:26 PM. ^ 7 days? maybe. after earnings season is over/early may? likely.in any case, better to tak some profits too early than to chase momentum and end up with a loss.[Edited on April 22, 2007 at 12:35 PM. Reason : `]
4/22/2007 12:35:01 PM
^ early may is a possibility, but i wrote that last monday, so i think tomorrow will be the beginning of a pullback, hopefully nothing too drastic but i think we're gonna see the S&P 500 down .78% Monday
4/22/2007 2:05:24 PM
my stocks are going down. i really don't want to hold on to the for the summer
4/22/2007 2:16:34 PM
I have some REED.OB its a soda company that makes Virgils Rootbeer and Reeds ginger products. It has double the purchase price and is projected to close 600% up. I will be hoping they know what they are doing with those projections.
4/22/2007 3:00:11 PM
^ After a brief overview of this company, a few things catch my eye:1) ROE = -92.77% (would be OK if a startup but they've been around since 1987)2) Mom & Pop run the company, pops pays himself 150K and the wife gets 12K, well that's just awesome3) Who the hell buys all those drinks (raspberry ginger brew? ginger ice cream?)? Are these big in China (if so, then maybe I'd have to look into the company more)On a side note, let's hope Texas Instruments (TXN) has a positive earnings announcement today...

4/23/2007 1:22:20 PM
^^^ They have been around but only recently began trading. My brother is the operational Manager for the company so that was my initial interest in the investment. The products are very big in the Asian culture, and the rootbeer/cream soda sell well on the west coast. They are a little slow in growing but one can hope for the best.
4/23/2007 2:50:35 PM
Geez I'm a friggin dork.I saw that AZN had gone down and I wondered if there was less demand for AZNs after the Va Tech shooting.
4/23/2007 3:06:45 PM
^^^^ this guy thought I was gonna be spot on with that call, if I could call shit like that, i would not be posting on TWW...let it be noted that the market was down today (.23%)...so i give myself a B- for calling the downtick...and Texas Instruments beat expectations, so we'll be alright
4/23/2007 6:44:03 PM
so why even throw out some specific ass number?
4/23/2007 11:42:29 PM
Dear Mr. Joshua,Please keep track of your options so that you don't end up with naked calls on USU at $17.50 when the stock is at ~$20.50.Thanks,The Management

What's up with IBM's big jump this morning?
4/24/2007 11:33:21 AM
^ couldn't tell you.among the things i've learned over the years are that i suck at trading around earnings, and i tend to spin my wheels when i attempt to trade after hours.

Decent premiums on AAPL options. I might sell some puts a month out.
4/25/2007 2:34:11 PM
So the market rallies and I lose money. How in the @#$% do I manage that?Oh, I own 430 shares of SUNW, which dropped 12% today.
4/25/2007 6:25:07 PM
mmm, GRMN up Up 1.47 (2.68%)
4/25/2007 6:40:01 PM
yeah, GRMN, AFL, and CTSH all made nice gains today...with a few small gains in other stocks.
4/25/2007 6:49:57 PM
i keep missing GRMN. i probably need to stop trying to time it and just get in. i'll probably wait until late May.i'm probably just going to stop messing with GOOG. its done me well, i should just end the relationship. same with BIDU.

Any of you guys know if there's a way in Scottrade to tell it that I'd like my dividends reinvested?Just got $14 from GE...I know that isn't much but I'd at least like it thrown back in.
4/26/2007 10:55:36 AM
I'm thinking of getting my 07 roth through scottrade and just buying 4K of Vanguard Target Retirement 2050 VFIFX. Thoughts?
4/26/2007 11:12:33 AM
^^ did you buy it back then? i didn't. i was too busy buying CTSH, CELG, and RNAI.i was talking more about a couple of weeks ago. i might still get in.
4/26/2007 11:13:55 AM
Nope, didn't buy it then. Just lamenting lost opportunities.
4/26/2007 11:30:10 AM
Since the fund I listed is one of Scottrade's "1,000 no-transaction Fee mutual funds." I won't pay Scottrade anything for that purchase, correct?
