the colonnade on cheshire bridge has pretty good southern cooking. but be warned, unless i'm there, you will be the only person under the age of 65. i mean that quite literally.
10/14/2008 6:22:39 PM
thx all - i'm debating a trip down there and was kind of underwhelmed by the food last time... looking for some good places to check out
10/15/2008 12:23:10 AM
Steamhouse lounge is a lot of fun too... their new location isnt as cool as their old one in Buckhead but the food and drinks are still really good.btw... Shiny Toy Guns show tonight at the LOFT
10/15/2008 3:08:32 PM
^^^ nice, i should check it out!! i love old-school joints like that. there's a similar place in buckhead, Mckinnon's Louisianne, that is about the same demographic and serves some tastey cajun food...
10/16/2008 9:16:10 AM
Did anyone check out the Decatur (east Atlanta IIRC) beer fest Saturday?
10/20/2008 12:10:16 AM
^^ McKinnon's is really good, great crabcakes^ no... my fall Saturdays are pretty much taken up exclusively by football.although I did see a dead body in a wreck on North Ave. last night on my way to Masquerade... totally freaked me out, had to drive by the wreck really slow, looked over and saw something white in the driver's seat, thought it was a deflated airbag draped over the seat but then I noticed an arm and shoulder coming out from underneath it

went to the brick store last night with the gfjust went upstairs and sat at the belgium bar waiting for a table and ended up next to this guy that lived for beer who was discussing beer with another guy ended up staying there for three hours drinking i have never tried so many different beers in one sittingthe bourbon was probably a bad idea the bartenders there really know their stuff
10/20/2008 7:10:52 PM
yeah, really like that place, just wish it was closer haha
10/20/2008 9:52:19 PM
^^i'm 85% sure i know one of those two guys. did one of them live and/or work in sandy springs?
10/20/2008 10:11:49 PM
^^ since im in north druid hills, its not that bad of a drive, just straight down clairmont ^ one was a therapist from gainsville fl who comes up once or twice a year to hang out and just gets a hotel room in decatur im not sure where the other guy lived, his name was jon and he works in decatur i think...i have business cards somewhere
10/20/2008 10:33:38 PM
i like the brick store as well, but i feel like i'm in a hobbit's den when i go upstairs.
10/21/2008 9:17:08 AM
Went to Wisteria last night with my supper club... it was alright, bit too fru fru for me (big plates, small portions)
10/21/2008 5:27:44 PM
brickstore has the best chicken salad EVERbut yeah - totally agree, pain in the ass to get there
10/21/2008 5:49:54 PM
neither of those sounds like the guy i was thinking it may be. my friend's room mate practically lived there and is a beer snob. i figured it may have been him. next time you're at the brick store, be sure to order the pretzels and mustard. they make their own mustard there, and let me tell you, it is spectacular.^^what exactly is a supper club? basically a group of people who get together every other week or so to go out to eat but the restaurants should be places that all (or at least most) of the people have never been to before and the person who gets to pick that week's restaurant rotates around the group... me and a friend of mine were discussing the fact that there are approximately 13,000 restaurants in the Atlanta area but we pretty much stick to the same 6-7... so we came up with it as a way to "force" us to branch out. Its been fun.First Week we did Rathbun's which I had been to before but no one else had, and it was awesome as usuallast night was week 2 and we did Wisteria. It was alright, but nothing special. Best part was walking around that area of Atlanta a bit on a cool night

11/22/2008 11:43:09 AM

11/22/2008 11:44:59 AM

11/22/2008 4:58:55 PM
can anyone recommend a good haircut place? i mean a place where you can ask them to recommend a new style and they won't bitch you out for asking for something besides a #4 high and tight. i generally only get a couple haircuts a year, and they always end up looking like i'm heading off to boot camp when i walk out.
11/26/2008 10:10:02 PM
Barron's is where I go usually, won best hair salon in Atlanta, and they can definitely recommend a new cut haha. Lots of hotties there too which doesnt hurt.http://www.barronslondonsalon.com/Used to go to Junko's, its pretty good too, cheaper, and they can almost always squeeze you in...http://www.junkohair.com/.Barron's is pretty pricey, I would go there for the first "new look" effort, and then somewhere else (Junko) for touch ups after that[Edited on November 26, 2008 at 11:48 PM. if you live over by the highlands, i recommend adore http://www.adorehairstudio.com/go to robbi if you do venture down there - i've been using her for 2 years now and am happy. it is a little pricey, but it's full service and she doesn't use clippers at all. they also have wine and other beverages to enjoy
11/27/2008 3:11:57 AM
just so i can avoid the sticker shock in first person, define pricey
11/28/2008 12:31:54 PM
Junko = $18-25the other two, $45-60
11/28/2008 1:22:09 PM
ah, that's not so bad. i thought you were going to say like $200 or something. thanks, i'll check them out.
11/28/2008 1:42:38 PM
yeah, i think mine usually comes to $60 or so, but i tip her $15 because i usually only get a cut every 3 months or so
11/28/2008 4:50:37 PM
Don't forget to vote tomorrow!!!!

There's some awesome shit in the city right nowIt makes me seem like an amazing date planner. I loved it!
12/4/2008 8:42:01 PM
...how can you say that and then not give the details of the awesome shit
12/4/2008 8:44:20 PM
because knowing you jackasses, you'll either:1) brag about how you did it last week -or-2) trash talk about how it isn't that great anyways
12/4/2008 8:46:06 PM
3) ask because we have no idea
12/4/2008 8:49:27 PM
hahaha, I'm just kidding. Here's a list:1) Dialog in the Dark at Atlantic Station2) King Tut Exhibit3) Titanic Exhibit at the Aquarium4) Terracotta Warriors at the High Museum5) Bodies Exhibit back at Atlantic Station
12/4/2008 8:49:46 PM
^ oh, i soooo saw the king tut exhibit at discovery place in charlotte when i was 8. this is soooo old
12/5/2008 3:26:34 PM
yeah, I want to go to all of those but I am waiting for someone else to go to Dialog in the Dark to make sure its not just some dude turning the light off
12/7/2008 8:54:10 PM
^what else would it be? i'd assumed that's all it would be. ohhhh, so THIS is what its like to be in the dark. not that i'm taking anything away from the hardships of blind people, but really, is it really worth paying to "not see" what's like.
12/8/2008 6:22:00 PM
I think there is a bit more to it... not sure what exactly
12/8/2008 7:58:33 PM
Somebody should finish the job that Sherman started and burn Atlanta to the ground.
12/9/2008 10:44:50 AM
^ "ATL: we only get burned once"don't be hatin' on the capital of the South!
12/9/2008 2:21:42 PM
Charlotte >>>>>>>>>> Atlanta
12/9/2008 2:48:38 PM
^ too stepford for me. good place to raise 2.5 kids, but not terribly interesting. at least we got some soul in the A.
12/9/2008 4:30:23 PM
^^lol get the fuck out
12/9/2008 5:17:33 PM
anyone familiar with the American Junior Golf Association http://www.ajga.org/ - my step-bro just got a job/internship there - based out of braselton so it's a bit outside of atlanta but close enough - sounds like a lot of work for little pay but that's how internships are sometimes
12/10/2008 7:10:20 PM
don't know anything about that program. is that up at chateau elon? there's a really nice first tee course that i play at in the ghetto.
