that was pretty stupid to let Palmer conduct a press conference so soon, but then again it wouldn't set up the conflict at hand. Funny, how the issue of the tape didn't immediately come into play against Noah.

Yeah, this episode was pretty good. Seems like they are getting things back on track with other seasons.

well, i was being sarcastic. I agree with Smath, it was pretty boring.
Having said that, I actually did enjoy it better than most of the season with the nukes and typically-stupid terrorists.

shoulda known something shady was gonna happen right when the VP said to give Palmer the resignation directly following the speech.

i mean shit, they've been clueing everyone to the fact that Palmer was gonna crash for a looong time now.

Yeah, I would like to officially retract my excitement after last weeks episode.

This season is beyond saving. Hell, the show is almost beyond saving.

oh yeah, i forgot about logan.

wow, what a wasted opportunity. they brought him back for 2 hours, only to have him stabbed in the neck by his crazy ex-wife and her superhero bodyguard, and then we get nothing else out of that storyline?

i, personally, don't think he's dead. That would be really stupid to kill off his character, especially when the story gained nothing from it.

it's also funny to remember that supposedly a nuclear bomb detonated 18 hours ago in north LA. I'm glad the president and CTU aren't worrying about that anymore. You know..... with the 10s of thousands of people killed and several square miles of some of the most expensive real estate in the country flattened.....

i would like to reiterate that 24 is still one of the better shows on tv compared to the trash we're subjected to most nights. you all can quit whining when heroes returns i guess

I've quit watching... I was bored with this season and just watching it out of a sense of duty I guess you could say. I'll pick it up on DVD and finish out the season then.

so you're gonna spend $40-$50 on the dvd just to watch 6 more episodes of a show you don't even enjoy?

that was weak...how is it that audrey is completely coherent when she talked to jack the first time...but now she can't even recognize him. Whatever. This show is going badly.

who said she was coherent? she may not have known what was going on...or they activated a chip/implant inside her....

What irks me, is why the heck doesn't CTU trust Jack? He said he was going to blow the place up and Doyle had to go and screw everything up.
I don't know how they are going to get that chip back. The previews look like Jack stays in custody...

^ Of course only Bill knew that, so with the message that Jack left on Bill's phone the current leadership wouldn't know.

Seemed like Audrey has been brainwashed to say the same little 'help me jack, your my only hope' deal over and over, isnt that all she ever really said over the phone?

she actually doesn't say much n the previous two episodes

but it isn't the same thing over and over though either

but she is all distressed and blinking rapidly and looks like she's obeying commands about when and how to speak

Yes. The writers are back to whatever fills time mode.

Another thing that irked me was that the Chinese dude didn't even inspect the chip. How does he know if Jack isn't just pulling his leg?

maybe i'm just being overly analytical b/c i watched the first 5 seasons on dvd, but this season leaves me scratching my head after every episode due to things that make no sense.

the chinese dude didn't have time to inspect the chip b/c doyle and his cowboys started shooting up the place....

it shows the chinese guy looking at the chip while riding in the hummer...but i know what you mean

yeah, the whole trade off with the chinese was ridiculous.
1) so the main chinese guy walks into an abandoned, dark building by himself, without sending body guards or anyone else ahead
2) he's a terrible negotiator.
"you will not get Audry until I have the chip"
"no, i want to see audry, then talk to her for a while, then touch her, then send her on her way, then wait until she's out of range of your sniper, then you'll get the chip"
".... ok, sounds fair."

Well you do have to keep in mind that the whole time he just assumed that he had leverage over Jack by having the ability to kill him and then hunt down Audrey if anything went bad. He had no idea Jack was planning on going suicide bomber.

Why I am trying to defend this show, I'll never know.

^ I actually think they ensured themselves by making Audrey damaged goods before hand. Regardless of what happened Audrey would never be the same and Jack would have to pay the price. The Chinese Counsolate knew he was getting everything for the price of nothing.

Wow, this episode was absolutely horrible. I'm typically the biggest defender of 24, but this was too much. Normally I can handle the unrealism of 24 - it's unavoidable when trying to do real-time stuff. But last night's episode was just straight up illogical. First, the whole thing with Karen and Bill. Wtf? Karen fires Bill for following protocol? Does that make any sense? No. And don't get me started with the Chinese tradeoff. Holy crap, it looked like the missile that hit the helicopter was just a friggin sparkler.

And I coulda been watching Heroes. But I gotta finish out the season for closure.

the funny thing about this season is the people who i talk to that have just started watching 24 think it's great

i think it's related to the number of new watchers since this is probably the most popular season of 24 (not good, just most widely viewed). they decided they had to keep the objectives changing to keep the mass moron population interested. and i blame it on the left's complaints about 24 and saying it sensationalizes the war in iraq. and i blame it on the show's writers for not refusing to do another few seasons without thinking up proper story lines for them first. and i blame it on kiefer sutherland for not quitting when he read the script for this season. and i blame it on fox.

that is all.

The reason Karen fired Bill is because SOMEONE had to take the fall for all the crap....

Bill is more expendable than Karen b/c she is closer to the President. This gives her a little more pull than Bill.

2nd, I hate how Jack just ditched the truck in plain sight behind the abandoned motel. Doyle drove right by it and saw it instantly.
I have a feeling this season will end with another cliff hanger, possibly Jack being dead, or Jack will end up shooting Doyle.

I still think there is a spy, either Doyle or Nadia...a HUGE twist coming....maybe it has to do with Jack's dad? That almost seems like another season, the one with his dad, the woman and her son.

^Haha, exactly. Karen and Bill both said that they followed protocol and did everything right, and the Attorney General was all like, it don' matta, we're gonna scapegoat just because. I don't know why they aren't trying to fight it since they did nothing wrong.

And I think doyle will be dead by the end of the season.
