do you know who dave glenn is?
4/4/2006 10:11:35 AM
yes i understand the use of a period just didnt want to use one, they have something to do with a womans menstrual cycle, well thats about all i know
4/4/2006 10:12:49 AM
to me, wright seems like a really bizzare choice. i doubt he leaves, 'Nova is a great job to have and they'll continue to be competitive after this year.i think we could get Phil Jackson. Lets send Lee Fowler and Chuck out to talk to him.
4/4/2006 11:52:22 AM
Money talks...if we're really throwing around 1.5+ Mil, that's a huge upgrade to Wright...nearly double
4/4/2006 11:55:35 AM
dont stop there, jackson! jackson!
4/4/2006 11:56:05 AM
for anybody who is discrediting david glenn, you are a moron. he is one of the most respected acc writers out there. he knows his shit more than anyone else out there and i would trust what he says about the whole situation more than anyone else
4/4/2006 12:09:26 PM
^agree
4/4/2006 12:10:53 PM
I am not sure why everyone is talking about Jay Wright as the next coach. Have ya'll heard rumors we have contacted him, Jay isn't an ACC boy, so why all this talk about him?

http://www.timesleader.com/mld/philly/sports/colleges/14255985.htm?source=rss&channel=philly_collegesDon't know if it's coachspeak or not. I believe this more than I'll believe Barnes, though
4/4/2006 1:43:15 PM
Doesn't surprise me; I know he's a long shot.I'd still say make the offer...$1.8 million can get a lot done.
4/4/2006 1:44:23 PM
^Money talks....
4/4/2006 1:46:19 PM
^^ I still don't think this means he wouldn't listen. If you haven't noticed by now... or if the rest of you don't follow these coaching situations, this is standard jargon for coaches. It doesn't compromise recruiting, it doesn't lose the fanbase and make the coach look bad if things dont work out, etc. I think our chances of Wright are slim to none, at best... but this article does nothing to change my feelings about our chances. We call him, he'll listen. Like you said, money talks. It's quite interesting that Calipari hasn't said a word though... while Barnes and Wright have. Calipari interviewed for this job when we hired Herb.
4/4/2006 1:50:28 PM
if Barnes came hereand brought Tucker with him (Tucker's from Raleigh)that would be uncanny
4/4/2006 1:56:28 PM
You guys should listen to this. Pretty interesting...http://www.trianglesportstalk.com/audio/apr_2006/andrewjones4-4.mp3Cliff's notes.... Jones is close to the program. He said 2 days ago he thougth Barnes was a pipe dream, but now he'd probably put it above 50/50 in State's favor....more like 60/40[Edited on April 4, 2006 at 2:05 PM. Reason : ]

That's quite interesting that that idiot reads message boards like this one....
4/4/2006 2:05:25 PM
4/4/2006 2:06:16 PM
As far as the Jones clip...I would be pretty pissed if we go through all this and end up hiring Haith.
4/4/2006 2:10:47 PM
agreed
4/4/2006 2:11:44 PM
I agree. I will be upset if we wind up with Haith....
4/4/2006 2:11:54 PM
if Fowler hires Frank Haith, his job should be taken from him by force.
4/4/2006 2:12:33 PM
and so should Haith's

new article, or article link on packpride for wright...any links?
4/4/2006 2:18:15 PM
^It pretty much says there is about a .00001% chance we get him. I'm hearing that he won't even let us interview him. We're fucking pathetic.
4/4/2006 2:20:32 PM
That post is what's pathetic.
4/4/2006 2:24:15 PM
So how long does this drag out before it really becomes a joke? If we don't have a coach in the next week are we fucked? 2 weeks? How long do we give Barnes before we stop chasing him and move onto someone else??
4/4/2006 2:25:19 PM
i know we're all nervous and anxious about who our next coach is going to be, but it has only been a couple days. You don't take a coach away from one of the better basketball programs in the country overnight. There is a courting process involved, so give it some time
4/4/2006 2:28:19 PM
Though it's safe to say that by next week, this whole Barnes fiasco will be solved hopefully, regardless if he stays in Texas or comes here.
4/4/2006 2:29:55 PM
Its like fishing you don't jerk at the big fish's first nibble you let him take the bait and then reel him in. Give it time I'm gona have to go fishin this weekend the more i think about it.
4/4/2006 2:30:15 PM
yeah I didn't mean to imply we were already approaching panic stage, just wanted to get an idea of when we can expect to start jumping off a bridge if we don't get a coach ... Oh and now you got me wanting to go fishing!!
4/4/2006 2:34:39 PM

^^i agree wholeheartedly. i'm really pissed about losing sendek. if we don't get a big name coach, i don't know what i'll do. losing two incredible recruits at least, a good coach, etc... all because our fans are fucking stupid as hell.i'm still hoping for a big name to bite and come here, but i keep having this sinking feeling that our basketball program is going down the drain now.i just don't see any scenario where hiring an "up and comer" or unproven coach would be an improvement over herb. those '07 recruits could have been our ticket to championships, and now we'll never find out.[Edited on April 4, 2006 at 2:43 PM. 4/4/2006 2:41:31 PM
^^^That's pretty much why I was against firing Herb... UNLESS you made a major improvement... If we don't get the big name guy we are taking a huge risk that may/may not pan out and it may take a few years for it to pan out anyways.... At least with Herb... nevermind.. not going to start this all up again....[Edited on April 4, 2006 at 2:42 PM. Reason : ^]
4/4/2006 2:42:19 PM
Wright said he still may come depending on who the coach is. It will be much harder to get him, but I'm sure he's gonna be the first junior the new coach calls when he gets here. If its a big name, then we might be in good shape.
4/4/2006 2:47:12 PM
^^We DIDN'T FIRE HERB! Herb left because there was a team offering him a job where there are no expectations, and no retarded fans calling for his lynching after a bad loss...yet. Some of You People will have yourselves to blame if we don't get the big name coach because he is afraid of your stupid ignorant asses.[Edited on April 4, 2006 at 2:48 PM. Reason : ^]

^nobody on this site ran herb off, big money donors are to blame...herb is gone move on

I DIDNT SAY WE FIRED HIM "ass hate".. I'm just saying that I was against firing him before he left.. And I was pissed at the assholes that ran him off!

are people at Texas worried about this? I know they dont really give a shit about basketball, but I'd be curious to know what they're thinking.

the only texas basketball home game that was sold out all year was the one where they honored the football team at halftime. here is the texas board:http://mb15.scout.com/ftexaslonghornsfrm1
