The one way you can explain the same tag on different cars and it not being a red-flag is dealer tags.which is a scandal in itself.
6/16/2011 4:40:41 PM
and remind me - didn't one or two players work for a dealer?
6/16/2011 4:42:21 PM
That, I dont remember happening...I hope NOT but even if he did its still a violation.
6/16/2011 4:43:25 PM
I think in the beginning it came up that a few detailed cars or something for a dealer.
6/16/2011 4:44:31 PM
does "detailing cars" mean "driving them around town and illegally parking them"?
6/16/2011 5:01:54 PM
But all of these cars were registered to a player's family or other student. So I dont see how a dealer could work into this. Unless UNC was just blatantly lying.
6/16/2011 5:02:58 PM
Unc doesn't lie
6/16/2011 5:06:54 PM
Perhaps I was not clear on pages 147 and 148.Perhaps I should not have used the word "player" to quantify the entity to which the cars were registered.Regardless, what you are seeing here is quite apparent. I am going to go all Brakk on you guys and let you figure this one out, because we have seen this sort of behavior before.[Edited on June 16, 2011 at 5:10 PM. It's funny reading IC posters sarcastically say "yeah if this doesn't scream LOIC then I don't know what does"...they're missing the entire point of why they media wanted to see the parking ticket. Not to see how many tickets Little has amassed, but to see which vehicles he was driving, who they were registered to, etc.
6/16/2011 5:49:30 PM
@acurliss Andy Curliss, N&O At least 42 parking citations tied to former #UNC star Marvin Austin's vehicles. http://bit.ly/j8mNzT I heard Marvin got sick of getting the tickets and got a scooter.

So when is someone going to throw the money in to get the vehicle history from the DMV?
6/16/2011 6:12:23 PM
dear admin, please delete aaronburro's post, it's destroying my ability to peruse UNC's demise. Thanks

the UNC supporters on charlotteobserver.com have switched gears from downplaying the parking tickets, to bashing JR Sweezyhilarity everywhere
6/16/2011 9:03:02 PM
I am waiting for someone to run carfax on the handful of cars with supplied vin numbers (the ones with temporary tags). Might be some interesting tidbits there. WRAL is now reporting that Ryan Houston owns two land rovers. I guess he has some rich ass parents because UNC said he was cleared.[Edited on June 16, 2011 at 9:41 PM. The Big 10 and ACC are making the SEC look clean by comparison.
6/17/2011 2:25:34 AM
Bama Z said on the radio a few weeks ago that Alabama has half as many sports teams/programs as UNC, but their NCAA compliance department is twice the sizeSEC schools basically lawyer the fuck up to have a grip on their illegal activities...UNC didn't prepare well enough to be an SEC-type football program

^I'd be interested to see how many texts/calls Blake made to other players during the same span that Austin and Thomas were at the training facility. I feel like it would be a lot less which would be a pretty good indication that the calls/texts to Austin and Thomas were more than just a "hey, how's your day going?" kind of thing. Of course we're already all assuming that's the case anyway, but it would nice to see some evidence supporting that.Do phone companies keep records of what was actually in the text of text messages?...Doubt they would go through the trouble of doing this legally or logistically, but I feel like there would be pretty damning evidence to be had if so. One can dream anyway.[Edited on June 17, 2011 at 9:09 AM. Reason : asdf]

Is there any way to punish an organization for contempt other than fines? Isn't there a way they could throw Baddour or Thorp in jail for this ?

6/17/2011 11:03:25 AM
so much for the whole "University of the people" garbage. they only care to be open and honest with the public when it fits their agenda. If they really had nothing to hide as they are trying to make everyone believe, it would probably help their cause to stop obstructing the process. If I was a judge, attorney or NCAA investigator this would be a pretty obvious red flag that they have something to hide
6/17/2011 11:05:28 AM
the only possible way to get legitimate information from them is to have a lawsuit filed. There has to be evidence for one party, such as the NCAA, to sue for contempt. If a lawsuit is filed, it's a totally different situation. UNC can lie all they want to the NCAA, hold back whatever information they need to until they can figure out what to do, but when the federal court says to you under oath "did you know this", you're in a totally different realm. this is the only way documents were released in the first place, because media outlets brought it to court. everything that comes forth from the documents i guarantee UNC will throw up a middle finger at until another court case mandates they answer.

^^Fair enough, admittedly I haven't been up to date on a lot of the ohio state stuff. I will say that there's probably more too it since stuff about the cars just keeps coming up http://www.10tv.com/live/content/teninvestigates/stories/2011/06/16/story-ohio-state-university-compliance-cars.html?sid=102
