New info on the Gizmodo iPhone 4 case: http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/05/roommate-iphone/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+wired/index+(Wired:+Index+3+(Top+Stories+2))Apparently the guy that found it was more of a dick than previously let on.

Just as we suspected...what a douche.
5/14/2010 5:41:11 PM
Eh, anyone who thought about it for more than a couple of seconds knew the guy who sold it wasn't some innocent kid. That said, the unsealed records pretty much destroy any shield law claims Gizmodo might have tried to bring up since Apple and the police clearly knew before the warrant was issued who has sold the phone.

Rumor mill hard at work:AT&T has requested non of its employees take vacation the week of June 22nd for the iPhone 4g release. This isn't really anything ground breaking since we already knew that. The interesting part is that AT&T is being extra generous this time around for early upgrades for iPhone owners, rumor is because Verizon is expected to get the iPhone in September so they want to lock as many people in for a further 2 years before that happens. Not sure how solid this rumor is since the terms of AT&T's exclusive iPhone agreement with Apple have been revealed and they're locked in for 5 years which puts it out to 2012.Check your own eligibility date if you are curious by dialing *639#[Edited on May 15, 2010 at 6:33 AM. ^ tried that, said upgrade with 2 year commit and $18... Does that mean that's it????
5/15/2010 11:15:59 AM
sounds like it when did you get your last one??
5/15/2010 12:01:22 PM
About this time last year. What was that number? If AT&T why doesn't it say anything on their website?
5/15/2010 12:56:06 PM
the $18 is the upgrade fee.. you still have to pay for the "discounted" iphone[Edited on May 15, 2010 at 1:47 PM. Reason : or that is my understanding anyways]
5/15/2010 1:45:34 PM
yeah, I'm apparently ready to upgrade the 16th of next month, so I should be good.
5/15/2010 1:58:18 PM
yeah it says i'm eligible in about 2 months..which is really surprising considering i just upgraded a few months ago
5/15/2010 1:59:36 PM
i love being on a family plan. I just use other people's upgrades. Wonder how much a 32gig 3gs would go for once the new one launches? Probably enough to pay for the subsidized 4g.
5/15/2010 7:57:57 PM
^Sell it 3 days-week before the launch. They had a tutorial on this on some blog (engadget, giz, or lifehacker, maybe?) last year and they were getting 350-400 for 3Gs before the 3GS came out. I'll probably sell my 3GS that way and will only get the 4G if they wow me. If not, I'll get some Android phone while I wait for the Galaxy S to come out. I'm getting sick of the "walled garden." I use Google Voice as my primary number now and it's a pain having to use the web app. Also, it sucks that we still don't have a native turn-by-turn navigation app.
5/17/2010 12:32:07 AM
I wonder if they will every add the iPad as a subsidized option, for 2 year contract plans ... $200 for an iPad, and I think you would see a huge rush of users willing to jump. That said, very interested in all the details of the new iphone ... from a feature perspective. HD video and 5MP camera would be awesome ... just hope they can do something to fix the blurry pictures issue that currently plagues the iphone. Is a 1 or 2 second delay between the time you hit the button to the time the picture is actually captured, so you dont get the shot you really want, and many times it means that my kid is already moving into another position or running away, so its just blurry.
5/17/2010 7:54:50 AM
would it even be worth it to sell a 3G or just hold on to it for a backup/beach phone?
5/17/2010 11:08:42 AM
^^yea, without a flash it's pretty hard to do much about the blurriness. although the lag that i seem to notice especially on the first picture take is pretty ridiculous. on my 3g sometimes it wouldn't even take a picture even though it did the sound and looked like it took one on the screen. i'd go into photos and the first pic i took just wouldn't be there..
5/17/2010 11:10:59 AM
If I upgrade, I will just let my wife have the 3gs as her email/solitare device ... keep her from messing with my phone and draining my battery all the time.
5/17/2010 11:38:45 AM
Ndrive USA new gps app for only $3 in app store. Seems like it's a passable gps replacement.
5/23/2010 1:12:58 PM
cool..
5/23/2010 1:20:33 PM
If I upgrade is it possible to just have an iPhone (old one) operte juton wifi? I have a couple of employees that I gave iPod touches to for time sheets and work orders. It be nice if they could have a camera as well... so would my old iPhone work as a iPod touch?
5/23/2010 2:23:22 PM
sure.

this new design is just fucking awful looking to me. am i the only one that thinks it looks like a chinese knockoff instead of a real apple product?

http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/24/many-verizon-customers-suffering-from-extreme-interest-in-ipho/I think part of androids success is because the iPhone isn't available on all networks and its the closest thing to an iPhone.[Edited on May 24, 2010 at 5:18 PM. Reason : .]
5/24/2010 5:18:29 PM
oh absolutely. if i could have somehow just magically switched even my aging iPhone 3G to the VZW network, I would rather have done that then buy a new phone and activate new service (which is definitely more expensive than my previous plan).
5/24/2010 5:20:01 PM
I mean neither Android or iPhone are in any sort of threat of losing market share. But as for US markets, iPhone on other networks will give the iPhone a huge leg up.^^^I was hoping to read something on that link about why using an Android is awesome except all I read was bitching about AT&T and gripe with Apple. Thats not really giving me any information on why I would want to switch to Android, it was more so why I would not want to use an iPhone on AT&T's network lol.http://www.pcworld.com/article/196912/7_ways_android_22_froyo_tops_apples_iphone.html?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a38:g26:r2:c0.007013:b34290712:z0ROFL, are all articles on pcworld written by nerdy high school kids? i hope these rumors of a 4G iphone coming to sprint are true. especially with Raleigh on the 4G list.
5/24/2010 6:40:06 PM
yeah i've thought about switching too. i've had an iphone since the first one came out..it's worked well for me and all but i'm about ready to try something else.

You just said you couldn't do it without jailbreaking. Don't go changing your argument now.

5/24/2010 9:35:13 PM
really wish i had gotten a hold of that one in time..the only reason i jailbreak is for tethering and sbsettings..which is really a pretty pathetic reason to have tolast time i tried changing the carrier file it totally screwed my visual voicemail which i didnt realize for weeks after not getting any voicemails is that still the case or is there a better workaround now?
5/24/2010 9:42:55 PM
You can jailbreak without unlocking, from what i understand.

I'm really not in the mood to argue semantics. If you want to backtrack and claim that's what you mean all along, then have at it. Doesn't change the fact that your original statement wasn't correct.
