nah, i never triedok, well for the hand..2/5 nl at borgata. 1 limper, i limp with Ad5djustin, in the CO raises to $35. button cold calls.the button was this lady who was really, really bad, but had been making large bets and not having to show down. i felt it was a matter of time till someone broke her.I started the hand wtih over $800, and was the shortest stack in the hand anyways, back to it...button cold calls, SB cold calls. bb folds.1 limper folds, i decide theres enough justification to call on a suited ace, and do so.that, and well, im a nl donk.flop comes Kd Td Qhsb checks, i check (planning on C/Ring)justin leads for $80, button cold calls, SB raises to $180.now im stumped.what is he cold calling with pre, then raising such a small amount with?what the hell is the button have?ive got one move here, thats to push all in, assuming that if the sb does in fact have the straight, ive got ~10 outsim scared that justin may have a set, and that the button may have a similar draw to me.i tank out for a but, then justin doesnt see that im still in the handi have my cards protected with a $20 chip, and was standing up in the 1 seat while i was thinking, so i guess it may have seemed like i wasnt in the hand.he calls out of turn, and that makes me even go into the tank harder....after a bit, i fold, but show the dealer (whom i sort of know and joke around with lots). he's pretty surprised after knowhing how i play....justin calls the $100, button just calls the $100now, there is ~$700 in the pot.turn is a random black middling cardsb leads turn for $200. into 700justin just calls. button smooth calls (???)river is the Qd.for a second, im pissed, then i realize it paired the board.i lean over tot he guy next to me, and point to my yellow $20 chip, and whisper in his year (i bet this the guy in the panthers jersey has kings full... "nah man, i know he does too" ahaha)sb checks, justin pushes for $450ishbutton immediately calls off for $430.sb foldsmonster fucking potsb had AAbutton had j9ojustin had KK for kings fulla nice $2200 pot in 2/5... not bad.the possible worst possible plays of AA and a flopped straight on the face of the planetfunny thing was, after talking to justin, i think he may have actually folded to my push on the flop huge, huge fucking handand of course, it was strange since the table was so deep, and no one had any greens at all, it was essentially $2200 all in reds ahahahaim pretty sure he didtn really know how huge the pot was till i was talking to him while he was trying to stack up "dude that was over 2k right""holy shit, there are so many stacks.."
1/21/2007 10:38:44 PM
Max extract:Tell me what i did wrong here:2/5 no limiteffective stacks:me ~ $1300talker ~ $1700bling ~ $900limp in eMP with 5d 5h (blah blah blah, shhh.. debate this if you want, i could argue for or against it)CO limpsSB completes (talkative)BB riases to $30. (bling)talkative is pretty solid.however, ive got a great read on him, and have him totally baffled by my plays. we've been involved in 4 hands thus far, none of which went to show down. however, 2 of the 4 ive opened my hand. one was on 3rd nut no pair when i popped the river for $200 into ~ a $190 pot where i knew he was on a pair of aces with a weak kicker. the other was when i was pretty sure my KJ on a K high board was good anyways, but played it like a flush draw and donk bet out $250 into a $300 pot when the flush card hit on the river. He seems to have been the table captain thus far, and since im new to the table after mine broke, he doesnt like the fact that im the new talkative guy pushing people around with bets, jokes, verbalizations, etc.however, he knows, and the table for certian knows that since ive sat down, ive moved almost each one of them at the table off many hands already, usually with brute force and positioning while very thin to pure air. Bling is probably tilting, he's on his third buy in the last 2 hours. Overly solid player, hasnt shown the propensity to get in and gamble however. seems to get married to hands and doesnt like to lose big pairs. you know the type.im kinda buzzed, and it's nearly 5 am.I call, other limper folds (this guy is mega weak, and it pisses me off too. he seems to think im just maniacal and tries to follow me around table to table... its funny though b/c he's so serious about me being his target. constantly short buys and tries to fanagle shorty plays at me. its pretty irritating.)talkative calls.flop comes 6c 5s 4hyippeee. start the train up, chips are gonna flyin particularly hish, who has seen me play with large stacks of small denomination chips knows how i like to stack my chips.its funny, and i think it's almsot intimidating in some silly way...40 stacks of reds ($5), in a triangle (3 stacks, 2 stacks, 1 stack), with all large denom. chips on top in their own stacks. If i get there, before i expand the triangle dimensions, itll go to 60 stacks int he 3-2-1 triangle. mmmm yummy.anyways, thats an aside, but comes into play sorta.talkative checks, bling bets $60.this, seems a bit odd. c-bet from AK? large pair (god i hope so)? middling pair?i raise to $160.talkative tanks out, and then folds, instructing the dealer to keep his cards aside, so that he can show "what an awesome laydown" he made. meh.. prly middling pair.bling immediatly calls.turn is a 3d.bllx.bling checksi slide out a $5 spire for a $200 bet.bling looks confused, i say "$200""can you count it?"i chop it down. whatever.it's just fun to wheel out a 40 stack of chips ahahaafter a little debate, bling calls.river is the 4s.bling checksi run 2 spires out this time.he folds after about 40 seconds. QQ for bling.now, tell me why i failed to extract the most value here, and why both my flop raise, turn, and river bets were wrong.FWIW, talkative had 77would have sucked out on the turn, then if i wouldh ave actually seen the river, i would have resucked.[Edited on January 22, 2007 at 11:36 AM. If he has AK the raise on the flop will pretty much mean a fold from him. I'd call hoping he would continue to bluff or preferably hit top pair on the turn or river. Even if he had a high pocket pair the raise on the flop would probably slow me down. Unless he's just a total donk and you hope he'll 3 bet you.

Sitting here @ working killing time, so for my quarterly post I'll respond to Ben's quiz - Raise on fllp - was too small with two cards to come in a 3-way pot... you have to defend your hand @ this point. The raise put ~$300 in the pot giving small small blind 2:1 on a call and BB 3:1. If you're not going to raise @ least $200 here, you might as well just flat call and see how the hand develops.bet on turn - you were fortunate to get a call here. Betting this card is very likely to only get action from a hand that has you beat. Also, assuming you have the best hand here, your opponent is probably drawing pretty thin. Showing weakness here is likely to get him to lead into you on the river which is what you really want.bet on river - he didn't raise on the turn so you're confident he doesn't have a straight meaning it will be awful hard for him to call a big bet. You could certainly debate the correct amount, but I probably would have bet another $200. If he called $200 on the turn it is likely he will put another $200 in on the river.

To get straight draws out.I think a check is okay on the turn, he isn't very likely to have a straight and you can call an induced bet on the river if you don't improve. And yes Jon, I was wearing my gambool jersey and JD hat.
1/22/2007 6:47:44 PM
guess you got home ok.good trip?
