i don't even have big boobs at all and i can't find a bra that i love. i wanna go get measured but i don't want them to laugh at the small boobied girl getting measured. i think i might wear a band size that you can't find at like target and VS all the time. i feel like i could be a 33. but i don't know. that is what i got from attempting to measure myself haha.oh being a girllll.edit: man top of page now everyone will know about my small boobs hahaha [Edited on May 3, 2010 at 4:56 PM. i have a smaller chest than you (maybe?) and i went to get measured getting measured is all about getting the right fit, no matter what size you are!! i was luckily right on with the size bra that i wear, but i had to get the measurements for the corset. ]

From what I've heard, Nordstrom is the best place to get fitted. They carry a wide range of styles, and they train their ladies to be able to eyeball sizes extremely well and know how each brand fits. I'm lucky to have a specialty bra shop near me so I go there, and they did a great job with my sizing.figleaves.com and barenecessities.com carry plenty of DD+ bras and will have coupons and sales all the time. So you can get fitted and know your general size range, you can order from them and with free returns/exchanges, get the perfect size.VS is pretty poor quality, and they will try to shove you into a DD because that's the biggest cup size they have, so they'll just keep upping your band size. I went from a 38 DD there to a 34 F / G depending on brand. Most people are smaller in the band and bigger in the cup than they think they are.[Edited on May 3, 2010 at 4:59 PM. Reason : asdf]

I think the other highly recommended place was the Bra Patch. http://www.thebrapatch.com/

^ yup, that's it

I don't know if non-registered users can still read the SA forums, but if you can, here's a thread all about finding the right bra: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3226135

^ thanks for the forum advice. looking at it right now. wow!!! I have always been told the opposite. Go up a band size and down a cup size. THAT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL!
5/3/2010 5:08:14 PM
^^That's great information! Thanks!

ok...so that forum is talking about compressing your boobs damages the breast tissue. Is this true? I also wear a sports bra to bed for two reason: 1) I hurt myself when I roll on my boobs or ken squishes them and 2) I also have to use it to protect my insulin pump while I sleep. Am I damaging my stuff here? Alternative advice?
5/3/2010 5:23:25 PM
bra shopping is one of my least favorite activities. i often wear a sports bra because i just can't find one i really like. i'll be checking out the bra patch eventually though
5/3/2010 5:25:32 PM
^^ I don't think anyone's ever proven that it damages the breast tissue or anything, it would be weird if it did.If you're worried you could try something less constricting like a shelf bra tank top or something?

The Bra Patch. I have 2 more bras on hold there and im waiting for ambrosia to go with me
5/3/2010 5:55:40 PM
I got the dress from mod cloth and it doesn't fit I think I'm too short waisted so the top is too long and pooches out
5/3/2010 6:07:27 PM
also, i didn't read about the compression thing but I know the women at the bra patch said minimizers can be bad for ya.
5/3/2010 6:08:44 PM
i went down a band size and up a cup size and was so thrilled with the fit that i dropped $400 on new titty carriers and they're PRETTYpraise the fucking lord i have more than one pretty bra i wait as long as possible to put my shirt on before leaving the house and if you're wondering what in the hell $400 buys i got 13 bras and a new strapless.. under $30 each.. and that inclues tax and i didnt even take out the discount i got on top of it.. i think it all shook out to $350 total.. so actually $25 each, out the doornot bad!

Ladies, any advice on what to do about brittle nails? I haven't painted, used falsies, or any chemicals on my nails in over a year, so they're not weak from that. But recently it seems my nails just won't stop breaking!! What can I do???
5/3/2010 7:28:37 PM
sounds like a nutritional deficiency maybe do some googling and figure out if you're missing something from your diet?hair skin & nails (and weirdly, the tongue) always give us signals when we're missing nutrients or something is up internally.
5/3/2010 7:45:23 PM
HmmmmMy hair has been falling out like crazy and it went from being curly to being straight.Perhaps I need to take vitamins?
5/3/2010 7:51:41 PM
my hair also used to be much curlier, for example this pic in high school to the next one just a few years later
5/3/2010 7:59:07 PM
do you have any ridges in your nails or white spots?
5/3/2010 7:59:47 PM
no white spots, my nails have always been ridgey so nothing out of the ordinary there

Maybe a nutritionist? Or just a general physician?I'm wondering if it has something to do with getting my hair highlighted. I go to an Aveda salon, which supposedly uses safer hair products. These changes started happening around the end of last year. Most of you guys who know me IRL remember me having very curly/frizzy/thick hair. No longer. And my scalp produces a lot more oil now. Before I could only wash my hair every three days because it was so dry. Now I have to wash it daily or even more frequently. One of the guys I dated recently was freaked out by how much hair I would lose.
5/3/2010 8:49:42 PM
lucy, that was happening to me, BAD (both the hair falling out and hair getting straighter). I don't know if yall remember seeing me post about it.Anyway, when I went to see my endocrinologist (I thought it might be my thyroid) she did some tests and it turns out it was a Vitamin D deficiency. I would go get some blood work done if I were you... She put me on 1,000 units of vit D and I can tell a HUGE difference between now and January. Not to mention, take some Biotin. Also, do you feel tired as well? All my symptoms have been soooooo much better after the Vit D.
5/3/2010 8:57:42 PM
^ Thanks! I'll try that. I'm exhausted all the time (even with 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night). I fall asleep during meetings. I assumed it was just my iron deficiency. Also, my motor skills are off. I have bruises constantly and I always drop things. This is not a normal thing for me. Perhaps a side effect related to a vitamin deficiency?
5/3/2010 9:12:02 PM
Yeah you should definitely get some bloodwork done. That is exactly how I felt... I would get 8-9 hours of sleep and be completely exhausted. Also, I don't know if this relates to you, but my sex drive plummeted (doctor said that was due to fatigue). It messed me up big time. :\
5/3/2010 9:14:01 PM
Haven't noticed the sex drive bit, but I haven't had a boyfriend in 3 months, so maybe it has been affected and I just don't know it. Perhaps that explains why I have little desire to date.I think the dropping stuff/clumsiness is from fatigue.

i have this dress on hold at banana republic. it's on sale right now. i'm going to try it on after i get off work. i'm thinking it would be really nice for the summer for weddings/going out/dinners/etc.
5/4/2010 2:37:56 PM

5/4/2010 2:38:52 PM

5/4/2010 2:43:46 PM
oh my, lucy! That sounds like me right before I found out I had Type I diabetes but I am willing to bet it is not that. I hope you find out what it is. Keep us informed, lady.
5/4/2010 2:44:31 PM
Erica, yeah i feel like its a dress i've seen other retailers/designers do before but i'm in need of something for a couple of weddings i have coming up so i figure i would try it on at the store and see if it fits. i wish it came in other colors than just black.
5/4/2010 2:46:27 PM
Oh I just meant Banana specifically. It's really cute tho

PEOPLE WHO SEW (i know there are a few of you!)i am looking to make some slipcovers for my furniture, some pillow covers and maybe some drapes (all really simple stuff). i haven't sewn in awhile but i feel confident i can make these basic thingsHOWEVERi don't have a sewing machine. so i'm looking on ebay/craigslist to find something that might work. not looking to spend that much at all (< $70 if possible). would something like this work for those projects?? http://greensboro.craigslist.org/search/?areaID=61&subAreaID=&query=sewing&catAbb=sssoh and here are some refurbished ones from overstock. any of these maybe?http://tinyurl.com/2adl4l9[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 3:03 PM. p.s. i want this dress really bad but its $80 so SOOOOO not happening:HOWEVER i'm looking on etsy now and i really like these dresses - am i weird (ok i think we already know the answer to that but are they that fugly? cause i like them)? and they are totally affordable.
5/4/2010 3:39:21 PM
The models make the dresses look worse. They could be fun pool cover-ups or lazy saturday dresses
5/4/2010 3:40:20 PM
I like them.
5/4/2010 3:42:10 PM
I would wear them with leggings.
5/4/2010 3:52:56 PM
I love the last two... I def agree with the pool cover-up scenario
