i was hoping abu would be more improved than he is. that's a bit of a disappointment, for me. anya is still anya...at least he can play more minutes now. and freeman appears to be coming along lately...i assume that foot injury hindered him in the beginning of the season. whether they've improved from last season or not, we need more production from the front court.

It wasn't just a foot injury, it was a fracture in his lower leg. He had a metal rod inserted from his knee to his ankle, so I imagine that took a while to get used to.

If you've seen Anya try to hedge out on a screen this season you've witnessed a regression.

I've never seen college players so open on the same pick and roll play so consistently.

Based of FG% and FT%, the only thing that has regressed is Anya's free throws. The only thing that has improved is Anya's FG% (0.724 this year compared to 0.610 last year). Abu and Freeman are getting a few more rebounds per minute, but that may be due to the 30 second shot clock speeding up the game a little bit. Essentially, no regression but no improvement.

That HPU forward is a stud so don't use that as you barometer on our inside guys. He'd make a lot of ACC big men look bad. That said, I'm disappointed in the lack of freshman to sophomore jump by Abu. Anya is what he is. Inconsistent and frustrating to watch most of the time. Freeman still doesn't look fully healed.

We are going to get crushed by most ACC teams on the inside. Imagine how bad it will be once we start having foul trouble in games. The Martins could be guarding guys like Brice Johnson

Gott may not be great at coaching but he's a great motivator and has many big wins under his belt. In a league in which he has to compete against UNC and Duke for talent I think he does a heck of a job bringing in new blood especially considering State's poor pedigree in basketball. He's also a cool dude, I mean all things being equal would you rather be coached by charismatic Gottfried or lame old bores like Coach K or Roy W?
