yeah there's usually one device that predates a major code release... everyone has to wait, where as Google made it work on the galaxy nexus from the get go. Its the dev phone.

http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/9/2548200/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-pricing-release-date-quad-core-tegra-3

Quote :
"Asus promised an official launch of its Eee Pad Transformer Prime on November 9th, and not a moment too late, the company is ready to give up the remaining details on its forthcoming tablet. However, those hoping that "launch" meant the world's first quad-core Tegra 3 tablet would start hitting stores today should be prepared to be disappointed — the $499 tablet (with 32GB of storage) and its $149 keyboard dock won't be arriving until early December. (The 64GB version will ring up at $599.) That said, after you read on below about all the improvements, you'll likely think it's worth the wait.

There's no doubt it sounds like the best Android tablet to date, and while it won't launch with Ice Cream Sandwich, Asus is promising an over-the-air update very soon after the early December release."

Probably no ICS because manufacturing is already too far along to change. Wouldn't be shocked by literally day 1 upgrade to ICS.

i went to what i thought was a verizon store but was actually an authorized verizon dealer. the guy knew nothing, just spouted out specs and then said this one is the best of all time. lol.

they only had dummy units but they are adjusted for actual size and weight, the razr is damn near weightless. i put it in my pocket and could not tell which is dangerous cause it means i could be leaving the house without it alot. but i didnt buy it because for $250+ i need to see more than a dummy unit. the rezound felt like a brick compared to it.

checked out the RAZR tonight as well, it's way too wide.

the guy had an HTC Rezound and I kinda preferred it, the weight was a bit heavier, but it just felt better in my hand because it was narrower.

still waiting for Galaxy Nexus til I make my decision.

holy hell big image

Also, in playing with the Razr, I didn't think it was too wide or tall, as some reviewers have claimed. You all may have small hands? Not that I think mine are extraordinarily large, but it didn't seem to be super wide to me.

Increasing bluetooth volume with rooted Gingerbread....

I have a Droid X with rooted Gingerbread. I just got a bluetooth speaker that doesn't have volume controls, rather it relies on the device. This thing can be sooooooo much louder than it is. Does anyone know of any easy app to install on increase the bluetooth output volume? (reading a bunch of forum stuff now, but nothing is coming up that is a quick fix)

There are some great deals on 10.1" Tegra 2 tablets this week...

Toshiba Thrive is in the $300-$320 range
Acer Aconia is around $300
Motorola Xoom is in the $350-$400 range
Asus Transformer down to $250 on Black Friday...

It's gonna be hard to justify the $500 on the Tegra 3...

I'm still going with Dec 1st. Wonder how many people are going to rent a Razr or Rezound with the extended holiday return policy.

Sidenote- installed the real ICS on my Thunderbolt today. So pretty. Now they just need to unwonk the touchscreen and fix data.

Consider this, RAZR cleared FCC 18 days before it's release, iPhone 4S cleared FCC 10 days before it's release... so it's feasible to at least be in the next 2 weeks.

Oh it's most likely December 1st, but I just can't help myself, I just like getting psyched up about the latest date, even though I have no problem waiting.

I've NOT had a smartphone since I lost mine in August. What's a few more weeks. I'm not getting sidetracked by the RAZR or Rezound.... Samsung is just shooting itself in the foot with the Galaxy Nexus, they could have doubled their sales had it been released in October like originally planned.

Hey guys. I want a tablet. Not really wanting the iPad 2. Played with an older Galaxy tab. Anyone have the new 10.1? Might go play with it at Bestbuy. I'm new to Android. Recommendations? That the best one these days?

-or what about the 8.9. Identical but smaller screen?

I have the Asus transformer and love it. I'd recommend the Asus product one for sure, back when i was researching tablets this was about the only android tablet that had universally high reviews and satisfied customers - as opposed to, say, the Xoom

Yeah I'm incredibly excited about the Transformer Prime. You can't get much better.

10.1" 1280 by 800 glass super IPS screen (claims to be brighter for outside reading than the iPad)
Tegra 3 Quad core (lower power draw - 12 hour battery life - 18 with dock)
Aluminium back
Android 4.0 is coming soon
8MP F2.4 camera (possibly same one as on the iPhone 4s?)
Claims to have much lower input lag

The dock looks sweet too.

lolwut? the Xoom has universally high reviews as well, it's like #2/#3 right behind the GalaxyTab, and a lot of the issues were "pre-Honeycomb" and have since been fixed like 5 months ago.... the only other complaint was about the screen not being terribly bright and MOST of all the price (but now it's dropped to $400), other than that the Xoom actually is an awesome device.

i was going to wait for the prime, but at $500 for Tegra3's, and all the Tegra2 devices coming down to $300-$350 range, I couldn't justify the extra $150-$200 for it.

While Tegra 3 isn't the main reason I'm waiting for the Prime it's a big factor. Lower power draw, and a 5th core for other processes means a zippy interface.

Plus you really can't beat the glass super bright IPS screen and aluminium backing. I was almost ready to jump on a Galaxy tab 8.9 but would rather have glass and aluminium than the plastic on the Galaxy.

I think it's worth the extra $150 or so.

hmm, don't like the power button location on the gnex... that's where you hand goes when holding it... seems like you could inadvertently press (and possibly hold it).

Xoom has the same exact hardware (Tegra2) as the Tab & Transformer, plus it's a Google Experience device and has one of the best battery lives of all the Android tablets... the negative reviews were more about Honeycomb feeling unpolished (as it was last March) and less about the device itself. The Xoom constantly is getting updates and will get ICS just like the Tab & Transformer (and every other Tegra2 tablet I presume) and now it's priced to match the Transformer & Tab so it's still a very good option.

Dude WTF, I'm not talking about Tegra3, I'm talking in comparison to Tegra2 devices.

Tegra3 is a different discussion and a completely different price point. I know, I posted about the Transformer Prime weeks ago and was seriously considering it. The 32GB Transformer Prime will be $599 $499, the 32GB Xoom is currently $399 ($350 on sale) and both are capable of running ICS.

And Tegra2 is as fast as the iPad2 and no Tegra3 devices on the market yet, and still capable of running the latest version of Android, so I wouldn't call it dated.

32GB is only $499 and I'm comparing it to the new 16GB Galaxy 10.1/8.9 for $499.

As in if you're going to spend ~$500 on a tablet then there's no reason to get a Tegra 2 tablet for $499 when the Prime is coming out for the same price with more storage (at least than the Galaxy.)

-and $100 is arguably worth it IMHO.
