well my droid is stuck with the cyanogen nightly i put on it months ago. i can't reboot into recovery, can't wipe and reset, can't install from rom manager...any ideas on what else i can try?
10/25/2011 11:09:08 AM
i wasn't aware that you could (easily) set yourself up to be unable to reboot into recovery [Edited on October 25, 2011 at 11:12 AM. Reason : i'm forgetting all kinds of words this morning]
10/25/2011 11:11:46 AM
Sounds like you really pissed it off. And you can't install rom manager? May have to look into RSDLite.
10/25/2011 11:21:25 AM
^^^I had that issue a couple of days ago. Reflashing ClockworkMod in ROM Manager seemed to fix mine. But I bet you've already tried that.
10/25/2011 11:56:35 AM
i made the mistake of, before checking back on this thread, hitting the "fix permissions button"...shit has literally been running for 20 min straight
10/25/2011 12:52:41 PM
^^ thank you sir, reflashing worked

I'm getting really tired of waiting for Gingerbread from AT&T on my Infuse. I'm about to just root the damn thing, load it myself, and be done with it.
10/25/2011 1:33:40 PM
Infuse=Samsung, Samsung=shit for updates in US

10/25/2011 1:38:34 PM
yeah, froyo source code was released in June of 2010.
10/25/2011 1:47:50 PM
Oops May 2010 for Froyo, not 2009http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history

Free Amazon App of the Day- OfficeSuite Pro5http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051UP5NQ?ie=UTF8&ref=mas_faadAlso looks like Gingerbread for the Thunderbolt is finally rolling out again.http://www.droid-life.com/2011/10/25/htc-thunderbolt-gingerbread-update-is-sort-of-available-right-now/]
10/26/2011 8:13:40 AM
LOLOTA update - SERVICE UNAVAILABLEThanks Verizon/HTC
10/26/2011 10:02:36 AM
Finally worked, update coming down now.
10/26/2011 11:56:56 AM
dumb question...is there a way i can turn off gmail notification sounds but keep other notification sounds (like SMS) and the gmail status bar icon when new mail arrives?
10/26/2011 1:49:13 PM
Sound be an option in Notification Settings under the gmail app to change it.
10/26/2011 1:58:56 PM
i would have thought so, but under notification settings i only have "email notifications - notify in status bar when email arrives" and "labels to notify"i want to keep the status bar icons, just get rid of sound
10/26/2011 2:00:36 PM
Click labels to notify and then choose inbox
10/26/2011 2:01:58 PM
Just FYIhttp://lifehacker.com/5853519/how-do-i-fix-my-bricked-android-phone
10/26/2011 2:15:26 PM
^^ doesn't work...it gives me the checkbox for "notify in status bar when email arrives" (which i want if it's only referring to the icon) and then it has the ringtone, vibrate, and notify once options...i can't select "none" for ringtone
10/26/2011 2:25:23 PM
Weird. I have mine set to silent and only to vibrate with gmail.
10/26/2011 2:34:23 PM
^ and this is why it was a stupid question...i was looking for "none," not "silent" (which is an option at the top of the ringtone list) [Edited on October 26, 2011 at 3:39 PM. Reason : derp derp]
10/26/2011 3:39:26 PM
haha derp indeed. Who would've ever guessed silent = none

http://www.droiddoes.com/#/droidrazr/?email=Responsys&CMP=EMC-A-S-C-DRD-SPYD-PRE-ARi'm guessing the best device to go with in the near future will be either the razr or prime? [Edited on October 26, 2011 at 11:12 PM. Reason : .]
10/26/2011 11:07:26 PM
LOL I can't believe they've still got the Bionic at $300. Look Verizon/Motorola, you tricked people into buying it for a month or so, now you're just going to get people who have gone full retard, and it's completely unethical to prey on the mentally handicapped.
10/27/2011 1:04:24 AM
lolhttp://www.droid-life.com/2011/10/26/droid-bionic-will-drop-to-249-starting-tomorrow-same-day-as-the-razr-pre-order/
10/27/2011 8:09:10 AM
Still says $300 at ^^^ that site.[Edited on October 27, 2011 at 10:28 AM. Reason : ]
10/27/2011 10:28:20 AM
It's 249 on the actual Verizon site if you click Buy Now. They just haven't updated the number on the Droid Does site
10/27/2011 10:35:34 AM
Two more weeks... must... hold... out.... for... Galaxy... Nexus...
10/27/2011 12:47:01 PM
^ this
10/27/2011 1:10:07 PM
ha. Better cross your fingers that there's no delay
10/27/2011 1:12:03 PM
My guess is the pre-order will come out 11/10 and delivered sometime before Thanksgiving.... at least that's what I'm hoping for assuming this is correct:
10/27/2011 1:21:05 PM
Wow. $50 off.THAT'S.ASTOUNDING.
10/27/2011 1:29:23 PM
My phone wiped itself Last night I do a battery swap, and when it comes back up, I get the "Welcome to Android" setup stuff. Once I get past that, I everything is gone. Apps, settings, contacts, everything. Turns out my data is fine on the SD card, and my contacts/calendar etc are synced with Google, but it's still a pain to lose all the apps and configuration Did a touch of research and got this:
10/27/2011 3:02:38 PM
Awesome.Google can conquer the world, but can't tell a phone that it's about to shutoff because of a low battery and unmount its data.
10/27/2011 6:00:05 PM
^^Crap I do that all the time.
10/27/2011 6:26:08 PM
Wipe yourself?Well...that's good.Nothing like WOWiers wearing diapers.
10/27/2011 8:18:45 PM
U mad bro?
10/27/2011 9:21:26 PM
What the shit is kdogg doing in this thread?
10/27/2011 10:03:38 PM
killing it
10/27/2011 10:43:18 PM
I'm in need of a new phone and I'm not going back to Blackberry. iPhones are simply too fragile for my clumsy ass, so I'm going towards a Droid. Sticking with Verizon since I still have unlimited data through them. Is the RAZR worth it or should I stick with an older model? Not really a first adapter here, mostly concerned with e-mail, web browsing and functional apps, less with gaming or video.Thoughts?
10/28/2011 12:11:25 AM
if you want something now, go with the RAZR...if you're willing to wait it out, go for the nexus prime
10/28/2011 7:35:04 AM
10/28/2011 9:26:33 AM
Yeah, I was going to suggest root+nandroid.
10/28/2011 9:54:31 AM
yeah, root is pretty much required if you want to back everything up. I use MyBackup Pro and mainly for app data, sms/mms, etc but it also has an option to backup/restore system settings, home screens and other stuff.3-part review on the Galaxy Nexus. It isn't in english though.
10/28/2011 10:34:59 AM
10/28/2011 10:45:40 AM
yeah, the good thing about MBP is that you can set daily or weekly scheduled backups and the number of backups to keep. Doesn't require manually turning your device off and going in recovery to do a nandroid backup.
10/28/2011 10:51:06 AM
damn, that's all Greek to me
