have they paid back every dime they were given in the bailouts?
9/15/2013 8:47:40 PM
Not even fucking close. The government still owns a huge block of GM stock.

obama is calling for a national discussion about gun laws. cool, because that's an idea that has not been tried recently and will totally help. way to waste already non-existent political capital right before another debt ceiling clusterfuck __Also, Obama is waiving the prohibitions in sections 40 and 40A of the Arms Export Control Act so that we can supply guns to terrorists

I hope it hasnt taken 144 pages for you to be surprised.

^^ Very DINO on the latter.

9/18/2013 1:11:44 PM
I didnt say you were.I just think everyone ITT should have been jaded long ago.
9/18/2013 4:25:18 PM
I'm pretty sure most liberal dems ITT are....with maybe the exception of one or two people that I can think of immediately.
9/18/2013 4:26:49 PM
Some are already thinking about the President Clinton's credibility watch thread in the future......
9/21/2013 6:12:40 PM
Watching and interview with Pelosi on CNN this morning. She actually said, "there are no more cuts to be made" in response to what might be negotiated during the debt ceiling. Seriously?
9/22/2013 1:28:11 PM
The sad thing is, most people that are disillusioned with him are that way because they feel he isn't liberal enough. I couldn't fathom a president any more partisan and further left than this guy.
9/22/2013 2:06:42 PM
Seriously, current projections show that deficit reduction has lowered GDP growth by about 0.5%. Since our current growth is somewhere between 2% and 2.5%, if we go much lower (which significant budget cuts would almost certainly send us lower) GDP growth won't be able to keep up with population growth. Unemployment will start creeping up, more people will roll onto unemployment/disability/SNAP/etc, and our annual budget deficits will start creeping up again.deficit reduction takes time, and is best when it's done incrementally. Some certainty and a few years of growth (to build confidence) would do wonders for our economy.
9/22/2013 2:28:44 PM
A more progressive system of taxation would do even more.

^^^ lol@ a fucking moron named disco_stu who doesn't actually understand what the problem is...the website is incomplete, it is not a traffic related question. what actually exists of the site is actually speedy and dare I say pretty attractive for a government website. the problem is that the signup process cannot be completed because of a screwup in it's design. It requires you to identify security questions before you can create an account except no security questions can be selected.I know it's not Obama's fault but it's on his watch and it's kinda the one thing you can't have happen on a big launch day for your signature accomplishment. I mean did no one check to see if a user could last 5 minutes on the site...

^^ I had that issue as well, wasn't sure if it was a Chrome issue or not but yes, serious testing fail for a website. Hope my company didn't help with that...]

Now we have "Too Good to Fail."Fantastic!
10/1/2013 12:30:10 PM
Apple's web servers can handle the traffic on iPhone launch days, why can't the gubment
10/1/2013 12:30:46 PM
well GTA Online tried to launch today and that failed as well although that WAS related to traffic probably
10/1/2013 12:33:52 PM
They just need more funding, obviously.
10/1/2013 12:34:05 PM
Obama strangely absent.
10/1/2013 12:40:35 PM
He's been giving interviews all morning, turn on the news
10/1/2013 12:41:25 PM
You know, the administration could very easily blame any problems with the website or exchanges on the government shutdown. It would be bullshit, of course, but it would pretty effective PR and stress just how highly cynical and counter-productive the GOP is being.
10/1/2013 12:42:21 PM
I listened to his NPR interview this morning on the way to work
10/1/2013 12:43:27 PM
I mean shouldnt he be talking to someone, I dont know, besides NPR?
10/1/2013 12:46:25 PM

Why do you think I give a shit about Foxnews Bullet?Let me restate. Why is he talking to the media at all if this is such a crisis that needs immediate fixing? Somehow I think approaching House/Senate members directly instead of public shaming might be the more executive approach no?
10/1/2013 12:52:21 PM
Because doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is insane. They do not respect him and do not listen to him. About the only "executive" thing to do that they wouldn't just respond with snark would be to order the military to arrest them for treason.
10/1/2013 12:54:49 PM
^^sure man, he's doing it totally wrong[Edited on October 1, 2013 at 12:56 PM. Reason : ]
10/1/2013 12:55:53 PM
What's he going to talk to them about? This isn't a negotiation. It's extortion. There is literally nothing to talk about.
10/1/2013 12:56:15 PM
^ is that actually true at this point? I havent been following this too closely, but is the GOP's only demand to delay the entire law for 1 year? The most burdensome part of the law (requiring employers to cover all employees working 30+ hours) has already been delayed a year, which seems reasonable.Other than a blanket delay, is the GOP requesting anything else?
10/1/2013 6:41:35 PM
They would probably not even request the delay if Congress removed their own subsidies. The delay might have been beneficial to Obama in making this whole thing go more smoothly, but I guess we're going more for the rip off the band aid quickly treatment. Its hardly extortion, although I totally dig disco_stu's ideas on the military/treason. I just want to be entertained by Washington's shenanigans. Our government is reality TV.

Royally fucked over, just like the American people. It's foolish to think that making congress adhere to the rules John Q Public has to face, makes GOP idiotic. The government has your best interest at heart, trust us. Signed, the people who can't run anything.
