So when am I gonna get this sammich on my Nexus S?
10/19/2011 12:35:46 PM
my guess: a couple weeks after the galaxy nexus is out
10/19/2011 12:41:09 PM
10/19/2011 12:58:48 PM
i already looked at verizon last night but their plans are so damn expensive...i'd probably spend $180 per month with them just for ME
10/19/2011 2:27:19 PM
so outside an LTE radio, there has been no phone to provide anything better than the atrix in 8 months. there are a handful of 1.2ghz dual cores vs the atrix 1ghz dual core, but no one with more than 1gb ram, no one even matching the 1950mAh battery, etc. what's the deal here? we had dbags claiming there'd be quadcore phones by q4. slowing down the release to extract more from the market?
10/19/2011 2:54:48 PM
Is that quad core Nvidia chip even finished? I haven't heard anyone say quad core phones this year. I don't expect them until at least summer.[Edited on October 19, 2011 at 3:10 PM. Reason : They would only slow down the market if they weren't competing with each other]
10/19/2011 3:09:07 PM
BigEgo's guess was correct: http://thisismynext.com/2011/10/19/ice-cream-sandwich-update-roadmap-andy-rubin/anyways, Samsung said on their facebook that it will start out on Verizon and other carriers will follow (just means they don't have exclusivity but not that a WiMax version for sprint even exists yet)
10/19/2011 4:57:16 PM
^x4 Fuck! Seriously? I pay 130 right now for 2 lines and the family share 1250 or whatever.

i've had a droid eris for almost 3 yearsi was going to get the iphone 4sbut i just saw the news about the Droid RAZR and it looks like a better phone...bigger screen, nicer display... same camera mp and dual core as iphone4swhat is this about the nexus? supposed to have a big screen?
10/19/2011 8:29:56 PM
Funny because the Eris is only almost two years old.
10/19/2011 8:32:24 PM
a vzw rep told me not to get the prime. said samsung devices are pure shit and he sees more samsungs come in for repair/replacement than any other manufacturer.wait say you, tww? go with razr or wait to see the prime?
10/19/2011 8:33:36 PM
Can't say I had any issues when I had the Fascinate with Verizon nor have the other handful of people I know with an Epic 4G. Great hardware but Samsung is slow as fuck with updates which causes a lot of developers to avoid them. Nexus is a different story though since you don't have to wait for Samsung to screw up the OS.]
10/19/2011 8:45:12 PM
i've had zero problems with my nexus s[Edited on October 19, 2011 at 8:53 PM. Reason : if I was on verizon, I'd be all over the prime]
10/19/2011 8:53:16 PM
I've had my eris over 2 years....just seems like almost 3now i'm stuck between iphone 4s or razr... or some other droid. there are so many i can't keep up when does the new nexus come out? what's so great about it?and the prime? when does it come out?
10/19/2011 8:56:21 PM

well damn. i use the shit outof my DX's gps
10/19/2011 9:11:56 PM
my droid gps stopped working about a month ago...email notifications went away along time ago...11/11/11 can't come soon enough
10/19/2011 9:28:20 PM
my DX's GPS started becoming useless a while back (on stock OTA software), it would take 10-15 minutes to snap out of its "searching for GPS" daze, if it would wake up at allit's been flawless since I installed CM7 though]
10/19/2011 9:31:16 PM
i have cm7 installed as well and still cant get functionality back, although i am using one of the very first cm7 nightliesso what should i actually do with my droid when i upgrade? its got a cracked screen so its useless to trade in even though the screen didnt lose any touch functionality

you verizon folks with plans already are really luckyhere's what me and my friend added up last night:Unlimited voice = $69.99+ Unlimited messaging = $20+ 10 GB of data = $80 (based on my Sprint bill, I use 10 GB of their 3G each month at least)____________________________________$169.99 + taxes

^ Just curious, but what are you doing to pull down 300+ MB each day? Are you glued to YouTube or Pandora or something?

10/20/2011 7:06:10 AM
looks like the Razr is also confirmed to have the 4460http://www.droid-life.com/2011/10/19/droid-razr-pops-up-on-motodev-site-with-full-specs-omap4460-processor-confirmed/Asus Transformer Prime to be announced on Nov 9th with Tegra 3 (quad-core)http://www.droid-life.com/2011/10/20/transformer-prime-makes-appearance-at-asiad-will-be-announced-november-9/
10/20/2011 10:11:23 AM
im definitely getting the razr over the prime. i have a 16gb microsd from the droid so ill have a 32gb razr over a 16gb prime.

In general, it's my job to be a Twitter addict - skimming/reading hundreds and hundreds of articles each day, and their respective media on my phone usually while I'm traveling, dumping, etc.And I sleep streaming Pandora over 3G if my WiFi is flaky so that's like 6-7 hours of data right there. And I'm rooted so I tether if I am on the road and can't get WiFi somewhere.

^ http://www.samsung.com/us/register/galaxynexus/Hopefully Sprint gets it. 7 carriers under the dropdown. Plus that facebook post by Samsung rep "US carrier has not been determined yet".Though I wouldn't be surprised if it was after Sprint's LTE network was deployed. Something tells me I should sell the Evo while I can.[Edited on October 20, 2011 at 12:49 PM. Reason : ]

10/20/2011 1:46:49 PM
It runs at a higher frequency than the Galaxy/Nexus S so while it's still less than the 543 in the 4s, it'll still outperform the current devices running the same GPU (well on paper anyways. Likely won't notice a difference in everyday use). [Edited on October 20, 2011 at 1:50 PM. Reason : ]

looks like motorola doesn't know what the hell is in the Razr. They just changed the page to say 4430. http://developer.motorola.com/products/droid-razr-xt912/And damn that ICS browser is fast]
10/20/2011 2:38:04 PM
oh wow...i tried the same site on dolphin and gingerbread stock on my overclocked evo and damn...that is snappy...
10/20/2011 3:11:05 PM
you must mean fast scrolling because it didnt seem to load hdblog very fast at all to me

http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/21/sprint-to-nix-unlimited-from-mobile-broadband-and-hotspot-plan/And so it begins. Surprised they aren't grandfathering existing customers in though. Wonder how long they'll keep unlimited plans on smartphones
10/21/2011 9:35:49 AM
downloading a system update right now could the D2G finally be getting something better than Froyo???
10/21/2011 10:37:41 AM
Verizon confirms galaxy nexus... "sometime this year"
10/22/2011 9:22:56 AM
they're gonna be late and be like "we meant this FISCAL year"
10/22/2011 9:28:00 AM
Verizon system shows 11/10 for the nexus, but the razr at 10/27.... which is the pre order date... so who knows if 11/10 is pre order or launch.
10/22/2011 11:25:20 AM
looks like the update that I wasn't able to install is indeed Gingerbread for the Droid2 Global but it removes root access which sucks http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/177972-verizon-4-5-608-ota-update-breaks-ability-root-droid-2-global.htmlanyone know if there is a workaround yet?or an easy way if someone wanted to roll back to 2.2?
10/23/2011 7:15:24 PM
I think you're a whole version behind, broDidn't gingerbread come out almost 2 years ago?
10/23/2011 7:29:49 PM
my D2G was the first Droid to have Froyo...but we just got Gingerbread this monthI think I found a way to root and unlock the radio for Wireless Tether but I'd also be interested if there is an easy way to rollback to a previous update cause that might be an easier solution for someone I'm helping out]
10/23/2011 7:33:47 PM
Skip gingerbread and just wait for an ICS build
10/23/2011 8:34:11 PM
D2G doesn't get a lot of support, either from Verizon/Motorola or the modding community...afaik the first Gingerbread ROM for D2G came out in September. I think there were only two stable ROMs before that.I'd like to upgrade to GB as I understand it helps battery life, but I'm having install issues. Even though I'm unrooted I think the update doesn't want to install because of some lingering Superuser files.
10/23/2011 9:01:01 PM
^^^^ considering the Droid came out with eclair 11/6/09, I'm gonna say no
