(it was a jab at boobs, who just a few weeks ago would be the first to criticize a 3*. But we're friends now, and I hope we get this guy from Wisconsin (although he's from Wisoncsin and committed to Wisconsin, so I'm wondering if he'd want to move to Raleigh))

Is it just me, or does QB prospect BJ Beecher look like the second coming of Glennon?http://media.247sports.com/Uploads/Assets/670/473/473670.jpg[Edited on December 11, 2012 at 11:31 AM. Reason : jeebus]

I dunno, is he one of the top-ranked QB recruits in the country or on the Parade, EA, and Under Armour All-American teams?
12/11/2012 11:40:03 AM
4 star WR Shelton Gibson is visiting this weekend:http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncstate/football/recruiting/player-Shelton-Gibson-128225Gibson is a former teammate of Bryan Underwood, and it sounds like Doeren has a good relationship with his HS coach.

Don't write apparently like you don't follow him.
12/12/2012 10:19:01 AM
I don't even have a twitter account I just surf through PP sometimes to see if there's anything interesting buried in all that monkey-business.
12/12/2012 10:32:26 AM
^5 No. He is none of that, but he is a tall lanky white guy with a giraffe neck and good arm. Also, ESPN shows him as the best rated 2013 QB prospect after Woulard that is considering State, so it's not unreasonable to think he might be here next year.
12/12/2012 12:32:16 PM
So I wonder if it will be awkward on this visit with Doeren in the same room as the assistant coach who doesn't know if he will be on payroll in the next month?
12/12/2012 1:49:52 PM
A lot of PP speculation on various assistants that are still out recruiting(I believe 3 are currently) more likely to be retained next year. Not sure how much I buy it, but I could see a few hanging around for a couple of years to help transitions go smoother.
12/12/2012 3:41:53 PM
they were saying Troy walters is likely to be retained
12/12/2012 3:42:47 PM
THE GUY WHO TAUGHT OUR RECEIVERS HOW TO BE SUCH WONDERFUL CATCHERS OF THE FOOTBALL???SUPER!!!
12/12/2012 3:51:24 PM
Apparently Coach Bridge is still out working on the recruiting trail.
12/12/2012 3:52:43 PM
He is known to be a good coach. I'd definitely put him on notice but look at what he had to work with. Outside of palmer you have a bunch of converted RB's and low level prospectsNot to mention our success in recruiting WRs this past year has been all him. Hard to see them letting him walk[Edited on December 12, 2012 at 3:55 PM. Reason : B]

I don't think it's fair to blame Walters for the dropped passes when he's only been here 1 year.
12/12/2012 4:30:22 PM
Maybe its just me, but a Division 1 wide receivers coach shouldn't be counted on to teach people how to CATCH THE DAMN FOOTBALL.Why are you a D1 wide receiver if you can't catch? He should be teaching them how to get separation, run the most effective routes, blocking techniques, etc.But thats just me... I hope Walters stays.[Edited on December 12, 2012 at 5:16 PM. Reason : how not who]

12/12/2012 5:18:03 PM
Well yeah, but I still don't know if you blame Walters for the drops. That's like blaming Orlando Early for Calvin, TJW, and Richard not being able to shoot free throws.
12/12/2012 5:21:05 PM
my point was he didnt have much to work with
12/12/2012 5:23:16 PM
Fair enough. Bottom line is I hope he is retained. He arguably got us our most highly rated recruit this year.Last thing I'll say just in general, I honestly believe the drops were mental as much as anything. I know our guys know how to catch so for me it has to be either lack of concentration or confidence. Not the fault of a position coach, especially one who has only been there one year IMO.
12/12/2012 5:27:24 PM
I was being somewhat sarcastic with my comment. With that being said...Outside of Owen Spencer (who improved dramatically his last year and a half), this is the worst case of dropsies I've ever seen at NC State...that's going back to the late 80s (well...there was Eric Leak). But as an overall team...it was fucking ridiculous. And this was the same group of guys we had last year...and I didn't see drops being a big issue last year.Walters was the only addition to this group.I agree that Division I athletes should be able to catch the ball...but its still a coaches responsible to run ball-catching drills and put in a little extra pratcie with the butterfinger guys.
12/12/2012 5:51:59 PM
Oh man. I had forgotten about Leaky hands.
12/12/2012 6:05:57 PM
you guys are really being hyperbolic with all the drops owen hadit really was only limited to one season.l
12/12/2012 6:25:07 PM
12/12/2012 10:48:23 PM
TJ used to drop balls all the damn time... cleaned it up a bit during his last season
12/13/2012 12:22:35 AM
Graham really wasn't a good WR until his senior season. He definitely improved a lot though.
12/13/2012 12:35:10 AM
saw on espn U that a highly touted WR didn't choose us. From out of Fort Lauderdale which happens to be where I am right now. Who was the guy?
12/13/2012 12:55:17 AM
12/13/2012 8:13:34 AM
^^ only prospect out of Fort Lauderdale that I'm seeing who committed recently is LB Lance Virgile, who chose Wake Forest on Tuesday. We had offered him as well.
12/13/2012 9:25:44 AM
12/13/2012 10:54:09 AM
I bet you that the Wide Receivers practiced catching the ball during every practice.
12/13/2012 11:10:07 AM
You'd think they would be better at it if that was the case. Add to that the TOB quote about not working fundamentals because they should know those by now and I'm not so sure...
12/13/2012 12:45:04 PM
not sure if serious.....
12/13/2012 1:09:15 PM
NCSU commit Quinton Patterson (linebacker from Shelby) was named NC MVP of the Shrine Bowl (SC won)
12/16/2012 12:12:33 PM
I think the drops had a lot to due with how hard of a ball Glennon threw. I just don't think those guys collectively were talented enough to handle that thing.
12/16/2012 12:28:35 PM
Bye bye priester
12/16/2012 2:48:46 PM
has he officially decommited? just because he said he'd be gone if Walters was let go doesn't mean anything at this point. it seems like he was getting to know Doeren pretty well and likes what he's seen so far, so i could see him staying commited
12/16/2012 3:23:54 PM
In an interview with The Wolfpacker last week Priester said he was going to stay committed at least until he has a chance to meet with Doeren in person. Also Da'Wan Hunte decommitted on facebook.
12/16/2012 5:13:38 PM
12/16/2012 5:27:43 PM
Yeah I mean when I played baseball at app we worked out at the same time as part of the football team, they would stay after with the juggs machine catching balls all night.. Obviously that's a lower level, but I'd assume if that might be a problem you'd work on it too..
12/16/2012 6:28:17 PM
Yeah personally I think that catching the football is similar to free throws. You have to put the extra work in and practice to really be good at it. I feel like those are two fundamental things that are more up to the individual player(s) than it is the coaches.
