It did nothing but rain for like 3 weeks straight, and then for the past 3 weeks it seems like we've gotten no rain.

Haven't had a very good storm in a while either. Just this high pressure sitting over top of us.

I have a gut feeling that there won't be a hurricane that affects us this year.

pretty sure the house across the street from me got hit by lightning today. I was walking up to my storm door to look out at the storm and boom! the brightest light and loudest thunder I've ever heard. If his house didn't get it, then it was close to it.

I've had it hit close enough to my house this week to blow up my cable modem and network card in my PC twice! The second time I had turned my computer off, so I am fairly certain it went through the coax line buried in my yard.

So Duke Energy has this surge protection that covers your electronics if you get hit. It maxes out at $2000, but that is what a lot of peoples insurance deductibles are.

I got hit and it burnt up 2/3 of everything I have that was connected by ethernet. I lost a desktop, the ports out of a gigabit switch, AirPort Extreme, AppleTV, and a Roku 3. It also totaled my TV but the idiots at the TV repair shop chose to fix it since they would make more instead of just diagnosing that it was totaled. The speakers are still blown out but they were able to fix it. Altogether its about $1600 I am claming. I could have gotten the full 2K if they would have totaled the 2013 TV but whatever. I am still glad I had it because I would have been screwed otherwise.

Is that extra insurance or is that included for everyone?

Unfortunately I am on Piedmont Electric. However I am 99% sure this came through my coax connection as that run all around my yard underground and the only things damaged were my network adapters. Additionally on the second strike I had powered down the PC/NAS etc and the cable modem was fried as well as circuits on my PCIe network adapter. Next time I guess I'll just fucking unplug everything when it storms.

I don't know if this qualifies as a storm, but weather.com's forecast for Sunday predicts a high of 60, a low of 17, 90% chance of rain and 13 mph wind.

Yea think I like Kat and her young hottie appeal more than Elizabeth and her MILF appeal. Coworker mentioned he totally has a thing for Elizabeth because she is "such a MILF". I told him he better watch out as her kids are fucking gremlins.

Under a level 4 risk for storms today. First time we have been at that level since 2016.

would the weather dome engage underneath the shelf cloud or would it have trapped it, causing massive flooding?

Currently sitting in St John power is still on for now but the wind is starting to whip around pretty good. Thankfully it’s only going to be a tropical storm when it hits here but the property manager came by and covered some doors and windows this morning. Under curfew until tomorrow morning

^^^^You may have to worry about rough surf, but given the time table it shouldn't impact the coast otherwise. Beach weather still looks tip top!

Bullet and downtownral, that's cute, but no. That also mean when I get annoyed at winter storm hype that's also reinforcing my AGW views?

Don't try to deny the increased hype and coverage that the media churns up for named storms every year. That has little to do with the AGW topic. And compared to an average season thus far it is slow, statistically speaking, for the elapsed time. I said nothing, nor made any comparison, to a season's overall activity. Yet that appears to be what justin might have thought I meant - which I didn't.
