I have a question for the Android developers here.I'm writing an app for my phone that utilizes the camera. The camera functions all work fine (I have a working preview, a working callback, and I can save pictures to the camera). The only problem is that the preview feed is sideways. There is a method called setDisplayOrientation(int degrees), where I can physically rotate the preview to accommodate for the orientation of the phone. The only problem is that Eclipse keeps telling me that this method does not exist. The method is present in the Android package reference manual and I just updated all of my API's to the most recent version. I still can't get this method to work.Does anybody have any advice for me to fix this?

Nevermind. I just figured out that that method isn't compatible with Android 2.1. Once I updated the driver to 2.2, the method was available.

what's the general consensus on whether wifi tether is safe to use (if you find a version that isn't blocked, that is)can Verizon "track" the usage, or do they only flag accounts that download a ton of data
10/16/2011 10:33:43 PM
^ i used wifi tether with 4G when i was at the beach for a week (4 users)...it worked well for about 2GB, and then it was quite obviously throttled (but still worked)it was always my understanding that they throttle back the top 5% or something...at least for the rest of your billing cycle, after which it resets[Edited on October 17, 2011 at 7:19 AM. a.k.a. Droid HD if you see that term anywherefwiw, technology aside, I'm a little underwhelmed they are recycling the "Razr" name]
10/17/2011 3:23:12 PM
Is there a Droid HD (Razr) vs. Google Nexus Prime (Galaxy Nexus) comparison?

^^ doubt it since we don't really have any confirmed specs.
10/17/2011 3:59:36 PM
man, I don't know about the supposed $300 price tag on the prime
10/17/2011 4:35:13 PM
I'm hoping that's new contract price, not upgrade price.
10/17/2011 4:37:24 PM
10/17/2011 4:41:28 PM
NE2 is what I was talking about, so it would be $199 I guess.

Looking to buy an extended battery for my Charge. Anyone want to chime in with advice? I'm looking at a few on Amazon...http://tinyurl.com/4yl4a6y and http://tinyurl.com/44v75fdAre they all going to be about the same, or is there anything in particular I should look out for?
10/17/2011 9:48:44 PM
anyone know if the razr will be a global phone?
10/18/2011 8:13:45 AM

10/18/2011 10:33:48 AM
I'm still trying to figure out what that's a countdown to. The Motorola-Verizon announcement is scheduled for 12PM EST. And damn having to wait til 10 tonight for the Google/Samsung event.
10/18/2011 10:38:26 AM
yeah, is there a link somewhere to watch the noon event?
10/18/2011 10:43:50 AM
Not sure if they'll have a video feed or just live blog it. The one tonight will be at http://youtube.com/Android

accessories are nice, but who really spends $1,000 for a cell phone + accessories?it seems that most people get a new device every 2 years... are you going to spend all that money on a phone, webtop, exercise buddy, etc. every 2 years?[Edited on October 18, 2011 at 12:44 PM. Reason : .]

10/18/2011 1:14:23 PM
Seems to be pretty snappy. Still not fond of the camera lump they're trending to.And looks like no removable battery. Hope they got the battery life straight.]
10/18/2011 1:26:48 PM
I hope that after 9pm tonight, "Gingerbread" will be a joke
10/18/2011 1:28:31 PM
I didn't notice that it was 32GB, but internal storage over 8GB means nothing to me on my smartphone. I'm damn sure not going to justify an additional 100 bucks for it.I've pretty much decided that my next handset will need NFC. And I have no qualms over paying $299, but it should be a flagship device.

sigh...have to give it to HTC for understanding the reason most of us in tech use Android is because of ideological differences with Apple

Meh, the photon and bionic have been unlocked in short order....From what I hear... the nexus is only like 2mm thicker, slightly narrower and 6mm taller. Don't ask for a source, I read it somewhere. I like motorola phones... though.Anyone find out what chipset is in it? All they say is 1.2GHz dual core... but omap 4430 is not quite as nice as omap 4460...Guess I'll have decisions to make tonight. Nfc isnt a deal breaker, nor is HD vs qhd. 4430 vs 4460... maybe... but additively... and blur...
