So first those pictures were the new iPhone. Then they weren't. Now they are again. I just wish they would hurry up and announce the damn thing so people would stop speculating. http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/18/iphone-4g-proof/
4/18/2010 4:27:14 PM
wow....the plot thickens....I'm convinced Apple is just fucking with us
4/18/2010 4:42:09 PM
not sure what the arrows are pointing at there...
4/18/2010 4:47:52 PM
It's supposedly on the table with the ipad prototype.

Gizmodo does something worthwhile for oncehttp://gizmodo.com/5520164/this-is-apples-next-iphone?skyline=true&s=i
4/19/2010 10:46:57 AM
More from Gizmodo, they seem to think this is def the new iPhone. It was found in a bar or something. How awesome would it be to be drunk at a bar a stumble across the new iPhone, hahahttp://gizmodo.com/5520164/this-is-apples-next-iphone
4/19/2010 10:47:49 AM
OLD
4/19/2010 10:49:52 AM
Pretty ballsy of someone to find a phone, that doesnt belong to them, then take the damned thing a part. I bet Apple sues.
4/19/2010 11:49:18 AM
If Apple issues a take-down request, we'll know.
4/19/2010 11:49:55 AM
Or it could be a carefully planned marketing scheme.
4/19/2010 11:52:32 AM
I doubt Apple is going to do much of anything at this point. The cat's out of the bag and taking any sort of action against Gizmodo would just be a confirmation. They probably just ignore this and maybe push up the official announcement event a few weeks. On the phone itself, it looks like Apple has finally addressed the majority of the hardware omissions that have existed since the 3G. Front facing camera, flash, and a higher resolution screen are all things that the iPhone sorely needed to achieve hardware parity with it's competitors.[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 12:11 PM. 4/19/2010 12:09:27 PM
smaller screen though?
4/19/2010 12:20:25 PM
hahaha I can't believe this thing got completely exposed....biggest apple leak everi wonder if steve will make them change the case design to save face
4/19/2010 12:31:22 PM
I honestly love the design of the new iphone, assuming that's what it looks like when it comes out.And you're right, it doesn't look much like an apple product, but I'm not a huge fan of apple's product design anyway. The new one looks like an iphone with a bit of zune styling mixed in, looks great IMO.

4/19/2010 12:50:11 PM
To what ends?
4/19/2010 12:54:37 PM
The way this got out was a little too sloppy to be a planned leak. From the initial story, to the confirmation of fake, to now looking like this is the real deal. Nah, I think you can take what happened here at pretty close to face value. Some drunk Apple employee lost the phone at a bar, someone found out, realized it wasn't a 3GS and then sent pictures of it to a bunch of tech sites (namely Engadget and Gizmodo). A bidding war ensued to determine who would get their hands on the phone and it looks like Gizmodo won.[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 12:58 PM. Reason : :]

that case is fucking hideous. i really hope they were planning on making it not look like a chinese knockoff before it's actually released.
4/19/2010 1:07:18 PM
i'd buy one at subsidized price
4/19/2010 1:12:51 PM

This is America, though. Not China.and on a side note:Doesn't anyone else find that sort of secrecy to the point of suicide disgusting? What sort of fucking society do we live in where it's ok that some guy killed himself over a fucking cell phone going missing? What kind of society (both American and Chinese) endorses the workplace stress that Apple does to keep a secret? It's unreasonable and unrequired. It's a fucking cell phone, not a god damned nuclear weapon.[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 1:28 PM. Reason : .]

^ You seriously think that one piece of consumer equipment is more valuable than someone's life?[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 1:53 PM. Reason : I don't give a shit how good the product is. No one should be ok with someone dying over it.]
4/19/2010 1:52:58 PM
clearly that's what he meant
4/19/2010 1:58:20 PM
^^That.Very much ^^that.And once again, ^^THAT.
4/19/2010 1:59:28 PM
yeah think he was talking about the later half of the comment in regard to why a company should keep their products secret until release day.
4/19/2010 2:00:33 PM
4/19/2010 2:15:29 PM
Well in order to save an argument on semantics, I'll just say that that is now how I read it, but I'm glad to see that you don't value a product over human life.

apple isn't going to lose any money at all over a device prototype for a new version of a device thats been out for years. especially one that they'll be putting out in a few months.
4/19/2010 3:28:47 PM
4/19/2010 3:29:57 PM
if this was the first iphone and it was 2 years before release then yea that would be a problem. But saying this is gonna cause problems for apple is like if someone had leaked the last update to the macbook line. Everyone expects them to come out with new iphones/macbooks every so often so its no suprise to anyone when it happens. To put it more simply, theres no way for apple to lose money by someone knowing for sure that apple is going to do something expected. If anything it confirms for people looking for new phones that they may want to hangout for a bit till it comes out, which is potentially more money for apple.
4/19/2010 3:34:57 PM
4/19/2010 3:35:49 PM
what dont i get? this doesn't hurt apple in any way.
4/19/2010 3:58:12 PM
i, too, do not see how this hurts apple.
4/19/2010 4:10:13 PM
Well first, it doesn't matter if its a 1st gen or 10th gen product. Breaching a contract, compromising company secrets, technology, etc should all be treated equally. Its pretty silly to think that Apple (or any company) would be like "its ok, buddy, its just a 4th gen iPhone. no worries *daps*"Second, it can potentially cost Apple (or any company in a similar situation) if competitors get wind of concrete features that are going into this next gen phone BEFORE its officially launched/announced, it gives them time to one up Apple or match them in features in their next release vs. having to wait until the following generation. We all know how most of their competitors love to cram as many half ass features as possible in each generation.*potentially - having or showing the capacity to become or develop into something in the future^ and ^^ I'm going to assume neither one of you have ever worked on a project where keeping features secret until launch was important.[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 4:14 PM. Reason : .]
4/19/2010 4:12:00 PM
concrete features like the ones already available on multiple phones already
4/19/2010 4:13:47 PM
Again, you are looking at this and thinking, whatever nothing to look at here, we expected a 4g iPhone. But thats not really the point, now is it?
4/19/2010 4:15:59 PM
yes. that is entirely the point
